It’s so cool, on the XPT it was a great view, we were going around in circles!

Beautiful layout with really good scenic detail. The trees are amazing. Big variety of rolling stock and I quite like the 40 class ALCO with the pagoda roof coaches, very nice designs. Most enjoyable video as always. 😊

It would be good to see how exhibition or larger layouts run their fiddle yards, and a bit of commentary on how long it took to build, to set up and any other operstional considerations. Good work,

The north end of the prototypical Bethungra Spiral is quite a bit higher than the south end. How do they work around this in the context of this layout?
@WillJamesRailways2 жыл бұрын
Hello, there are wide shots of the ends of the layout in the video, I guess that would answer that question best!

A few Clubs have DC on one track and DCC on the other.This is problematic for operation.It means that the whole layout cannot be used.What happens is that the drivers go round and round,in a game of chasings.May as well have a circle of track,with no points,no sidings,no stations. Better to alternate between DC and DCC,so some operation can be held.Otherwise all the time and money spent on points and sidings is wasted.
@johnd88922 жыл бұрын
Good point for club operation. That is what AMRA Vic do with a switch for DC or DCC running separate operating sessions. For an exhibition layout it is far less of an issue as the public mainly want to see impressive trains running. Even the shunting or similar operations are best not to interfere with mainline operation or the public mainly walk away.
@WillJamesRailways2 жыл бұрын
I agree John! I think the US layout Springfield that does the exhibition circuit here is a great example of continuous running with switching incorporated!
@dennisbailey60672 жыл бұрын
@@johnd8892 Yes,Exhibitions are a different thing.It is at Club layouts,where many hours and thousands of dollars are spent to include Industrial sidings(coal /ore mines,steel mills,grain silos,etc)and many forget the locos have a reverse.Points are a big expense,and a source of unreliable running.Unless members have a chance to operate in these Industrial tracks,and have even basic operation type running,all this is wasted.
