The fact that everybody ain’t on their feet during Rakim’s performance is a disgrace to the culture, this man is a legend. There would be no Jay, Nas or Biggie without him.

I hate to be an old fogey but I gotta be an old fogey. The level Rakim and LL Cool J brought it was DIFFERENT. NO RAPPING OVER VOCALS. Breath control, presence, energy. Even with Ra being laid back it still felt like a moment. Live band, DJs. Plural. Just ... man. This is how it should be done. They styles are identical to NONE.

The fact that he can still rock the crowd like this almost 40 years later is incredible. I'd urge any young person to study the history of hip hop. It's a rich art form. @pareeshaslaughter6798: "To Pimp A Butterfly" & "Mr. Moral And The Steppers" are only 2 albums. 1988 produced well over 20 classic albums in that 1 single year alone & 1989/1990 it was almost the same. It's hard to get 20 classic albums out of this century alone. I just turned 52 & i cosign what @chasenickles260 is saying. Rap/Hip-Hop went from being a beautiful amazing artform that we called the Black CNN to a bunch of degenerate, ratchet bullshish! Most of these new aged rappers can't sell records or sell out shows. Rap/Hip-Hop is in serious trouble & nobody wants to admit it. Instead i get called a hater & an old head by young rap fans.
