@Masonxx129 ай бұрын
Yup. I mean when Gale tells you about his original plan to return the Karsite Weave to Mystra, you can compare it to dropping "a cup of water into the ocean." Despite what Raphael says, I think the Crown really is just a trinket for Mystra compared to her full power. She just prefers to keep it out of anybody else's hands.
@jeanlou39 ай бұрын
Mystra’s weave is larger than the Kirstie weave indeed, but is only a small fraction from the magic of Faerun, organized, walled off and controlled by Mystra. Mystra is also not the one that created the weave, but the 3rd incarnation of the goddess of magic. The first, Mystryl, died to stop Krsus to consume all of magic. The second, Mystra, was killed during the times of trouble. The third, that we see in game, is quite a young deity (Elminster, for example, is waaaaay older) that inherited only half of the powers from the second iteration, and way less than Mystryl, that created the weave. So the crown itself is quite useless to Mystra, but it is way older than her, and thus THE PROCESS under which is was created is very important. It is from a time of higher magic, and its creation caused the death of a more powerful deity. The current Mystra cannot expand the weave, only maintain it. Be it by folly or ambition, she might try to expand it again to its former glory now that she has the tool to do so. Only Ao knows how that would end.

@Penamesolen9 ай бұрын
So fun fact, my Tav, Sharin, did not do the House of Hope, and accidentally angered the Emperor so he left. We were alone and Raphael came and offered the deal one last time. Sharin accepted, knowing that her soul would be his if she did not give him the Crown of Karsus, and then volunteered to become illithid. After the battle, she had Gale get the Crown to Mystra, then killed herself as she sensed that she was losing herself. Her idea, of course, was that illithids do not have souls, they lose their souls, so by doing this, when she went against the contract, there would be no soul for Raphael to pick up. Then comes the post-death scene where Withers is like "seems I was wrong, you kept your soul after all", which was panic-inducing for me... And then this scene came. And while it is clearly meant to be for a PC that is alive, since Sharin was dead her soul was delivered to Raphael, with no live body to return to. So... that sucked XD It will definetely give her some extra character if a DLC post-MSQ ever happens, though.
@leyrua9 ай бұрын
Yeah, Withers claiming that illithids have no souls struck me as a dangerous assumption. It's so true to Rafael's character that he'd see you make this choice and return fire by planting a seed of doubt in your head. When you face him in the house of hope after denying a contract with him, you're met as a cruel fool who could have saved the realms, but chose to be selfish instead. He wants you to feel that you've betrayed your cause, because he can only see your cause from his own perspective; you're a puppet whose purpose is to perform in his orchestrated and wondrous plan. He writes so passionately about how much he obsesses over you intricate & intriguing adventurers. Here, he plants yet another seed when put on the back foot, because it is not destruction of oneself that heroes fear, it's the destruction of your purpose, and those you sought to save. This is what he wants. He wants you to doubt, unravel and feel desperate and pathetic, much like he must have felt by weaving such a masterful plan resulting in you saving the world, and him reigning the hells with the Crown, only to have you fearlessly betray your dealings with him for the greater good. You showed him he to be powerless in his own meticulously orchestrated plans, so in the end he wants nothing more than to see you lose your faith. But he can't do that until you believe you were the problem all along, and it's you who doomed Faerun to oblivion. That's just my take on it, but I really do adore the writing in BG3 😅

This Man doesnt understand two things, no matter if he has or not the crown he will never defeat Asmodeus because for first instance Asmodeus have the Ruby Rod, an artifact that has a small fragment of the shard of pure evil, the shard of pure evil is probably the most powerful of evil artifacts it was created so long ago by the demons, specially Ancient demons called Obyriths, the rest of the shard Is literally still creating the Abyss, and most of the shard's power was absorbed by the most dangerous and powerful villan in all D&D, Tharizdun the mad God, the second thing is that there is no way the nine hells win the blood war, the Abyss is literally infinite and corrupts everything, also there are only like 4 Demon Lords financing the blood war, the rest do not care for the war, but well in the end Raphael is a nepobabie that has no idea how the hell or the Abyss works.
@The2BlackWings9 ай бұрын
It is all correct, but remember that neither all hells are sending troops for the blood war. Just the layer of avernus is fighting constantly. Also, the war is stagnating just because archduke Zavriel is a gigantic moron and doesn't know how to guide properly her troops in battle. When Bel, the best general on hells, was the archduke of avernus replacing Zariel, in 3.5 manuals, the devils were "winning" the war, since they were slowly and gradually advancing through the lower planes. Asmodeus probably doesn't want to win the war, and when he had the opportunity he replaced Bel to Zariel again. I think he just want the war to stalemate, and maintain the balance between law and chaos.
@omargerardolunamorales2179 ай бұрын
@@The2BlackWings That may be correct, but most likely doesnt really want the balance between law and chaos, but some people do not know that Asmodeus made a deal with a Demon, this will definitely destroy his reputation in the nine hells, this Demon in particular is Pazuzu that in secret is an Obyrith Demon but he knows how to adapt to look like a Ta'nari, this Demon Lord is the same one who convinced Tharizdun to use the shard of pure evil, although Tharizdun ended up betraying him, but to the main topic, Pazuzu and Asmodeus have a secret agreement that nobody really knows what happen but both of them are wining things in the blood war.

@@The2BlackWings ironically, the Blood War is keeping things stable and possible for the Hells to be as they are now lol. It's Raphael's plan of overthrowing Asmodeus, ending the Blood War and beginning a conquest across the planes that would ironically doom him, if he doesn't already get annihilated as soon as he's done with Avernus which he definitely will.

I'd say the biggest threat to any plans Raphael has is that asmodeus isn't doing anything about it. If he isn't actively sabotaging Rachael's goals it's either because even with the crown he's no threat, or asmodeus is playing 4d chess around him to make it work to his benefit.

As long as Mystra doesn't change cameras so much I'm fine with it, and I hate Mystra, please, Raphael, I know you love yourself, but pick an angle already!

I never got this cutscene because I didn’t make a legit deal with him and went straight to get the crown. But on my new playthrough I definitely want to see this. BG3 created what I believe is a true villain. Charming but deceitful. Tactical and clever. I love it. 😍

I can never get this cutscene because all my playthroughs I face him. Can't bypass that boss fight. Epic.

I got this ending as bug. I'm pretty sure it's been fixed now but before even if you killed Raphael this cut scene would appear. I was so confused tbh when it happened because everyone had mentioned when you kill a Devil in the Hell's you kill them for good.

I think Mystra will make sure the crown is safe and won't do anything bad. She is good goddess and she is not stupid, she knows the consequences. Despite this, I really like these final monologues from Raphael. In a polite and refined way, he tries to shows how angry he is that the situation didn't resolve as he wanted. He even tries to scare the player and convince him that he made the wrong decision. Rapahel is a narcissist, but an intelligent narcissist, but when he is helpless and defeated, he says such words. He shouldn't be trusted, but I really like his character, he's well written and acted, I wish there were more scenes with him in the game.

Mystra is neutral in the purest meaning of the word. She wants magic to prosper and she doesnt care if that magic is used for good or for evil. Her having the crown might just mean that she will give it to her next best chosen/champion, who she feels can further her cause of spreading magic. One of the biggest threats to Faerun, Daurgatoth "The creeping Doom" - is a Chosen of Mystra. Even though he is incredibly evil. Mystra doesnt care, because he furthers magical research.

@@faselfasel2864 She's LN, she will therefore likely be a stable person to hand it to. Compared to Raphael, who sets out to do world domination, she will likely not allow it out for fear of creating a rival.

The sad thing is that Raphael might be correct. Unless you went to Sorcerous Sundries and found the book Gale was after. You will not learn of the Crowns true origin and the fact that Karsus’s three treasures all operate on a completely different Weave from Mystra and Shar. It is a bottomless jug that feeds and consumes Magic Ad Infinitum. Mystra CANNOT be allowed to use the crown at all because she is the Weave herself, it would either obliterate her or consume her and the weave. Creating a cataclysm Far Greater and more Horrifying than the Spell Plague that Transported the entire Dragonborn City to Faerun, and created the new generation of Wild Magic Sourcerers, and killed millions across the multiverse. Mystra can only hope that leaving it in her domain, TheWeave, will simply keep the treasures fed for all eternity.

I hate that he's not wrong... First time bad stuff happened to a goddess of magic we needed a whole new goddess of magic and when that one stopped being alive for a few minutes because of her crazy ex (not you Gale, you're not that special lmao) the universe almost collapsed again. Like seriously I think Ao should probably remove "magic" from the list of available portfolios 😅

I just dont see what use Mystra, an already extremely poweful goddess mkre poweful then Karsus in his 5 seconds of godhood, which iirc was more to do with a level 12 spell then the crown. Giving it to her is the best option if you want to prevent the Crown being used at all, even if mystra is a bit of a dick

So this is not really a rare cutscene as those that betrayed and killed him also get the cutscene. Not sure if its a bug or just Raphaels ego being larger than life (and death).
