Really nice species profile!! Love how you guys talk about fish that most fish keepers don’t even know about. Keep up the great work.

Lovely little Bettas. I used to keep these a few years ago. Right now I have a male and female Mahachaiensis that behave similarly.

Wild type fish and fresh genetics are a real consideration as we move forward in the hobby! F100+ might not cut it in the long term

Where I can find a true pair in or near Raleigh, NC? Went to a local aquarium and ordered an alien one almost a year ago and still waiting, so if I ask for this I’m sure they would never be able to get them.

I have no idea where you could get one locally. Best i can tell is to buy them online at The Wet Spot and use my code steenfott10 to save 10%. www.wetspottropicalfish.com/affiliate/Steenfottaquatics/

The only supplier I knew of in Raleigh just left the hobby this past spring. I bought Aliens and Imbellis from him. I've seen the occasional Alien at Chapel Hill/Durham Petcos. I recently picked up a baby boy Betta for $2.99 that I was pretty sure is an Imbellis and a month later it definitely looks it. If I were looking to order, I'd go through Blackwater Aquatics.

their common name is emerald betta not pink pearl betta, also these are not a wild version of the splendens, these are a closely related species, splendens are different and you can also get wild splendens

It's pretty common in the hobby that fish have multiple common names. Also, at no point in this video did we state they are wild versions of betta splendens.

Wild bettas are hard to take care of. They come in with parasites and are very sensitive to water parameters. This goes for any wild caught fish species though. I wish i couldve known this when i purchased a wild betta. I had him for just one week.
