I can make a video cleaning the tank, great idea! I do a water change once a week on my tanks. I haven’t named most of the girls actually haha. Right now, this tank is a community tank, so I have 8 female bettas living with other fish. Thank you for the support! ❤️

Can you place other fish with a sorority? For example the small catfish? My husband had a beta he LOVED for three years and then he passed. I did a ton of research and discovered I was cleaning his tank too often. Anyways, he wants a beta for his birthday this year. I’ve done extensive research since then on beta keeping and have slowly been collecting supplies. Debating now on another male beta or buying a big tank like this to do a sorority and turning our old 10 gallon into a shrimp tank.

Otocinclus catfish are great fish to keep with bettas! You can keep bettas with other fish, just make sure the other fish are friendly 👍

I have 12 females in this tank! Controlling algae is trial and error. You have to balance your lighting & nutrients. How long are your lights on for? Are you dosing fertilizer? Thank you for the kind words! ❤️🥰

So gorgeous!! How long did your girls fight it out? I had 2 that were nonstop for an hour & I got too worried & took them out. Would you recommend I give them more time? I have 5 + the 2 aggressive ones in a 30 gal planted. It’s still within the first month so the plants aren’t as lush as yours yet. Thanks in advance for any feedback!

My girls settled down after 2 weeks. I would recommend removing the aggressive one for 24 hours, then reintroducing her. If she’s still too aggressive, you might have to re-home or make a new tank for her.

I use a gravel vacuum to clean the substrate. Controlling algae is about balancing your lighting & nutrients.

For the most part, yes! I think the large space and plants really help spread out aggression 👍

Females can live together under certain circumstances. I’d recommend a 30+ gallon tank, 5 females minimum, heavily planted tank with lots of hiding spots, heated, filtered, cycled. It takes a lot of time, research, and planning. Sororities should not be attempted by beginners. Even if you do everything right, it can still fail. Be prepared to separate or re-home fish if necessary. A betta hierarchy is a pecking order or ranking system between female bettas. You need at least 5 females to establish a good hierarchy to minimize aggression.

Try to pick more friendly females. Overly aggressive females will not work in a sorority.
