Dwarf Gourami vs Betta Fish: Similarities And Differences. Can They Coexist?

I put this on a comunity post and was suggested to put it in the video for others to see depending on the individual fish. But bettas tend to do better in 5-20g tanks while goruamies do better in 20g plus tanks. It’s better to not tbh I keep mostly gourmaies. The only spieces of gorumaie I would say are fine with bettas are croaking honeys and plasid dwarfs (not red honeys/thicklips) Anything bigger than a dwarf needs about 30g and while you can keep betas in 30g they tend not to be very happy from what I have noticed due to the overal depth of the tank and they find it to busy and big. You best bet is a 20g tank with a chill betta and a pair of honeys or a group of croaking gourmaies. Dwarfs while pretty can be more aggressive and dependent on your country have Iridovirus so won’t survive past 6 months But at the end of the day I’m always going to recamend a 30g plus for gourmaies and to keep them in groups of 6 1-5 females per male depended on spieces and bettas solo in a 5-10g with shrimp or snails

3:02 this is the way to sex specifically dwarf gourmaies Golden/sunset honeys- in store females often don’t present before being sold so you could end up with a late blooming Male. You will know you have a male if it has orange on the bottom of its tail and back of its bottom fin also have a pointed fin but harder to idenify Crokeing: no idea haveing figured it out Pearls-Trichopodus trichopterus-thicklips-moonlights: all of these are usually solid as juveniles and to young to sex Trichopodus trichopterus are the only one I see hang around in the store long enough to develop. Males have a pointed elongated top fin and females have a rounded one. Details for older fish Perals: males have a brillant orange throat and long filaments on their dorsle fin Moonlights: females are pure silver while the males have orange on them. Males lower lips are also quite a bit thicker. Thicklips: males have long pointed top fins and a deeper color. Wild honey: if they are happy and healthy the only diffrance is the males pointed top fins as both sexes will fire up a deep amber color with black throats Golden honeys: males will fire up to have rich orange on their tails and black throats same pointed dorsal fin. Females can occasionally when healthy also fire up with some black on there throats Trichopodus trichopterus- you are mostly looking for the longer pointy dorsal also the more agressive fish are likely to be males Dwarfs: females in all colours that I know of other than colbolt/powder blue are silver making them the easiest ones to identify.

Hello, I have a question and need some help. My daughter got a Betta fish for her birthday and it was a hatchling. That was five months ago. She just started blowing bubbles a couple hours ago. I don't know if she wants to start breeding or what. I would like some help and advice. I hope I can get some soon.

If you/she don’t want to breed and have multiple frys to deal with.. you can leave it. Building bubblenest is normal behavior for betta. But it’s not necessary to setup for breeding. Hope it helps
