As a fellow Blu-ray collector, what i usually do to line up the labels (it's not just a you problem, promise) is to open the box up, stand it up like a book, which should cause the thin outer-plastic layer to flex outwards enough to grasp the cover sheet between your thumb and forefinger (grab it by the spine) and line that up, then slowly close it while checking if either side is misaligned, making tiny adjustments as you go. It does get easier as you get the hang of it, and I'm thankful for that, cause almost every new movie or show i get on BR has a slightly misaligned cover lmao drives me crazy

The 2018 DVD release of the complete series of Fraggle Rock has all 12 discs stacked on a single cheap, flimsy spindle. I took matters into my own hands and ordered two 6-disc Blu-ray cases (DVD cases would have been just a little too tall to fit in the cardboard sleeve) so each disc has its own spindle, and even printed off covers to label the cases. It’s so much more practical than the original packaging.

Fun fact!!! In 2018, there was a box set for Breaking Bad released in the UK (and some other places I believe) and it's one of the best box sets ever! There are 3 seperate individual cases, housing seasons 1 + 2, 3 + 4 and 5a and 5b respectfully, with a bonus disc on top! Instead of being housed in those terrible spindles or clunky disc holders, the 2018 set has easy to use disc holders for each individual disc! I've been rewatching Breaking Bad through this set for my third watchthrough of the show, and I've had no issues whatsoever!

there's another version of the breaking bad complete series set, but instead of a box, it's a barrel. it has cool features, including magnets and a los pollos hermanos cooking apron. my only gripe with it is how they formatted the discs. each disc holder can be detached on accident, and its really easy to misplace where each disc belongs. it's a cool concept, but the execution is mid

The true villain of this video is the maker of these spindle cases. They’re called “Epik Pak” cases and they’ve been infecting physical media releases in the last few years. What’s most frustrating personally is that they’re DVD shaped, meaning they stand up over normal Blu-ray cases, and depending on your shelf configuration, may not even fit. On the other hand, Gravity Falls’s complete series was published by Shout Factory, a company that puts love and care into the artwork and packaging of its releases.

Honestly if I were in your shoes I'd just purchase some generic empty Blu Ray cases (which you can get for quite cheap) and print out the individual season boxart (which you can find online pretty easily) and make my own cases for each season. Might be a bit of a pain in the ass to do and probably wont look or feel as good as the official thing but its better than risking damaging the discs everytime you wanna watch the show.

In my experience, stacked discs aren't actually touching each other unless you press down on them. Much better than cardboard pocket sleeves. Also, I've never seen anybody use both hands to remove discs from spindles. Thumb pressed into spindle and pull up the edge of disc with first two fingers of the same hand. I have hundreds of DVDs and Blu-rays with all kinds of different cases and have yet to have that not work each one easily. I even have small hands and have never had a problem doing it that way.

I have the Breaking Bad set and the cardboard sleeves have a glossy coat, plus Blu-Rays are extremely resistant to scratching already, so I'm pretty sure you don't need to worry about damaging them. Though being paranoid about that kind of stuff I put them in plastic sleeves, which also makes them really easy to take out and put back

I've seen so much of this lately. I almost bought a box set of Justified the other day . . . then realized all 19 discs were stacked on a SINGLE SPINDLE down the middle of the box. I'm increasingly convinced companies are doing this on purpose not just to save money on packaging, but to insure your discs eventually get scratched so you'll have to spend more money again later.

horrifying. i work at a library and hate these with every cell in my body. even the smaller ones (usually 2-6 discs) are extremely cumbersome and break all the time. sometimes they even crumble apart but that may be due to constant handling and heat treatments. but enough of that... luckily, we have better call saul separated into six regular cases.

wow that was a very fun video, since you liked BCS, I would HIGHLY recommend you watch Mr Robot, its a bit darker, but just as engrossing and well written, coming from someone who has BCS as one of his fav shows. Theoretically we have the technology to invent discs with the storage space for holding the entire show in just one, but unfortunately there is no incentive to do so, and they likely wouldn't work with available disc players (meaning they would need to upgrade those too), and unfortunately there is no incentive to since digital media is cheaper and easier to make and store.

3:30 that's the whole point tho, Better Call Saul's vibe with the intros and the first scene of the show is basically watching Saul going throught his memories on a VHS tape, since he misses those times, and as the show goes on, the more fucked up and corrupted the VHS intros become losing its color, until in season 6 where its just black and white and it breaks mid-intro, symbolising Jimmy (or Saul's) descend into madness and depression
