Wow, 87 YEARS. He chose 87 YEARS as Jimmy, instead of 7 years as Saul. That hits differently. Took responsibility, and freed himself, just not literally.

86 years, not 87

Nah. Getting out in 7 years means nothing if the only human on Earth he cares about still won't accept him. He would gladly spend the rest of his life in prison if it meant the most important person in his life accepted him (edit: by "accept" I mean acknowledge as the man she once loved, Jimmy, as opposed to Saul, who was a completely different person that Kim didn't even know any more.) He didn't choose 87 years. The years were completely irrelevant. The mere fact he got it down to 7 from "LIFE plus 190 years" in the first place meant he already won against the system and proved to himself he can still manipulate everyone within the legal system. He was just toying with the prosecutor with the ice cream, seeing how far he could go. But ultimately if he got out of prison in 7 years and Kim still wants absolutely nothing to do with him or to ever hear from him again, what's even the point of getting out? He has nothing and no one. like he told Frank. If he died tonight, no one would know or even miss him. He chose 87 years because Kim is the only person who has EVER believed in him and he wants her approval and respect more than anything. He values it even more than his own freedom, considering the life he was living as Gene.

@@whirlwind872 No? it’s not like Kim would accept Saul even if he does 86 years. Kim found a new boyfriend, Kim found a new life, she doesn’t need and will dee Saul as a lover anymore. Saul is nothing more than a past acquaintance to Kim.
@whirlwind8722 жыл бұрын
@@ka-boom2083 No. Jimmy knows Kim moved on. He never expected to get back together. He literally just wanted to be redeemed in HER eyes. He wanted HER to see him as someone who CAN own up to his mistakes and grow up. He can change. And he really still is the person she loved, Jimmy. He needed to prove to her that he's NOT Saul. He's Jimmy. And that he's worthy of her respect. Keep in mind she is quite literally the only person who has EVER believed in him or seen the good in him. Her opinion of him means absolutely EVERYTHING to Jimmy. Kim acknowledging and respecting him is far more important than his freedom. Sharing that final cigarette with her behind bars is more fulfilling and meaningful to Jimmy than spending the entire rest of his life as a free man but alone. He may as well have been dead already as Gene. Even if he's behind bars, the only person who has ever believed in him FINALLY accepted him again. And that's everything to him.

Do you think Saul could have provided a good enough defense to halt the Uchiha genocide?

Hey dude, the thumbnail is a MAJOR SPOILER. Please change it. Anyone who sees the thumbnail while scrolling on their recommended is going to see Saul is behind bars and your video title is about how fitting the ending is. I'm not trying to be a dick - I already saw it so it didn't spoil anything for me. But just pointing it out since you might not have thought about it, and honestly experiencing the ending for the first time is a once in a lifetime thing. So I implore you to change the thumbnail to something that gives NO hints! Even if other people on KZbin spoil in the thumbnails and titles. I try to ask people not to

Tru, if the final closing statement is about the finger guns maybe it could be Kim on display in the thumbnail instead. Few things are as unfortunate as spoilers from KZbin thumbnails ❤️

I disagree. I feel that this ending felt weak and failed to both redeem Saul and Kim correctly and finish the build up of the Kim & Jimmy relationship. When they broke up, Kim established a literary *lie*, which was not unlike Chuck's "you're corrupt and can never change"; she said that "together, they are poison", and implied it could not be fixed. She was at her lowest. Yet the ending failed to turn that around, despite the entire series being, above all, about their romance and development as a duo. And so, in the ending, she just learns that she can go back to her status quo of the past, more or less, and ignore Jimmy after that visit in the prison. She was more or less just as guilty as Jimmy, yet he's stuck there forever and she gets to walk. Lalo's death being underwhelming, as well as that out of character scene at the prison bus, makes me think the showrunners wrote themselves into a corner and slipped at the finish line. The ending was definitely not as great as Breaking Bad's.
