I love these commentaries. We find out all kinds of interesting things. Like, the reason that Marco written in as a character was because they had extra time to fill in in episode 104! It would all be so different without him and his pinky ring. These people are geniuses!

So the one question I would ask a writer or producer of this show is this. Who, in the creative staff, came up with the name Saul Goodman. It sounds like originally it might have been the punchline to some lame joke but it birthed this entire character and its universe. So who is the writer that came up with up?

peter gould created the character while writing episode 2x08, titled better call saul, and essentially takes credit for the original “on paper” idea of him, including his name.
