Not really, if you're at the level that can use the heads. You're trading a higher initial cost, which isn't really that much higher as a percentage of a build, for heads what will last and be reliable AND give better breathing. Look at it this way, even if you're spending double, and "only" get double the life, you're saving on a full engine rebuild and the time and money that'll cost. If the modified OEM heads fail during qualifying or practice (depending on the type of event), that'll normally mean wasted travel time and all those costs, too, unless you've a spare engine and the time to swap them.

Cool, with precision 3D printed cores being available for some time, I'd expect some other very smart folks will be working on their own unique requirements. What I'm REALLY looking forward to is some really smart folks casting the head and block as a unit, with it bolting seperately to a 2 piece crankcase assembly, like engines were cast way back in the early days. With no heade gasket, there can't be a problem with them leaking or heads lifting. With no requirement to pass the big end of the 'rod through the bore that can be made stronger and/ or use larger fasteners - the diesel chaps would benefit there. The upper crank-case can be stronger as the webbing isn't going to require piston reliefs and it can be more rigid and provide a lot more "meat" for the main studs, as can the lower crankcase - with the potential to incorporate the sump assembly for further rigidity - or just being left as a simple girdle.

4800 for bare heads and 8900 for assembled (valves, springs, probably not cams)
You will have to check with your local OEM dealership for their price, but you can see what PRP are offering in AUD here: hpcdmy.co/prpej Crest CNC do a great job on anything they do, so for those with a need for heads like this in their perfomrnace application I'm sure they won't be disappointed. If you want a bit more insight into what goes into the production of aftermarket cast parts and the improvements that can be had over OEM, check out this podcast episode with Chris from Crest CNC: www.hpacademy.com/blog/107-billet-isnt-everything-the-rise-of-aftermarket-cast-engines-podcast/? And this one with Herman from PRP: www.hpacademy.com/blog/086-forget-billet-for-a-second-whats-with-aftermarket-cast-blocks-podcast/? Great to listen to during a commute, road trip or while tinkering in the garage - Taz.

Hopefully they re-route the exhaust port to have a direct flow vs a 45 degree angle, causes alot of the overheating issues with those corresponding cylinders. Wrote this before the end of the video haha way to go guys!

100% the EG is so lacking in aftermarket parts would love more options always wanted to compound turbo and destroke one.....
@mythos0000000253 ай бұрын
@Handcockjohnny it has the same 79mm stroke as the EJ. High revving is limited by the springs, cams and timing belt...all of which are easily sourced...save maybe the camshafts. Gates racing timing belt, pick a good dual or triple spring and a custom grind. You'd definitely want a dry sump setup with might actually prove a bit more difficult but maybe not. The do use the EG33 in sand dune racing buggies making 1000hp with sleeved blocks. Subie performance can close deck the block as well

No. No subaru is worth it. Ever. I say this as a modded subaru owner. There is nothing redeeming about the chassis or the motor. Slow to spool, outrageously expensive to mod, crap ECU, firewall flexing, Go faster for cheaper in an Evo. Make your subaru reliable by swapping in a K series. Subaru owners are just a bunch of suckers with deep pockets.
