S-tier review. I remember stumbling across the X2s Bluetooth a month back while looking up a tutorial on GameSir's website; but, I had no idea that this controller was going to be debuting so soon. I'm not sure why they're going for a soft launch even softer than Charmin, but, I'm not their CEO. I have a GameSir X2 Pro. It's the first X2 with analog triggers (ALPS sticks though) and it has Xbox branding. It's wired and it still works great. Most of my gaming is old console emulation done on a phone, so, it's easily my most used controller. It has a couple of quirks though. The first quirk is that it requires the phone you're pairing it with to support USB Power Delivery 2.0 in order to pair. While that's no problem with a flagship, even an older one like my long serving LG V35, many manufacturers will quietly cut PD 2.0 to save a few pennies on their midrange and value models, so caveat emptor. And it's not who you'd think either; my prepaid Galaxies and Motorolas don't support it while the free Blu phone my carrier recently gave me with an unlimited card purchase does. The other quirk is that it only works in HID. I'm very happy that you mentioned in your review that this unit can spoof other controllers. While I don't do a ton of native Android gaming, I have ran into a number of Play Store games that do not fully support the HID standard. An example that matters to me is "Grid: Autosport", which doesn't recognize the analog triggers as analog. It will work perfectly when paired to my GameSir Nova Lite using Dual Shock mode. But, that's a different type of controller that's not always feasible to use. Because of these two quirks, I've been waiting for an X2 Pro Bluetooth to hit the market. And, it never has. It probably never will. But, this X2S BT is close enough. It's missing the rear buttons (which I map to L3 and R3, so not a huge loss) but otherwise seems to be right there with my old Pro in terms of feature parity. In some ways (Hall Effect sticks) it's probably better. I don't notice Bluetooth latency, even when I intentionally look for it. I thought a direct wired connection would make me a better gamer and, honestly, it really doesn't. When it comes to gaming I'm like a nurse shark at dinner time. Thank you for this review and for the giveaway. I hope I win. If I don't, then I should probably buy one. I keep thinking I'm going to buy a nice Android retro handheld and be happy; but, I never do. I'm all talk and no action. A big part of why I don't is that repurposing old Android phones makes a lot of sense. They give me a big screen, big battery, an SoC that's usually a lot better than what you'll find in most sub Pocket4 Pro handhelds, and the price is right. Plus it makes me feel good because I'm giving new life, or a greater purpose, to stuff I already own. The three Rs of environmentalism is Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. So, if I'm going to reuse these old Android phones then it makes sense to get a Bluetooth telescopic controller, like the X2s, that's pretty much guaranteed to be compatible with everything I'll ever own instead of rolling with one that's only compatible with a few things.

I remember you making a post about one of those phones you are referring to, it was a very cost efficient solution, like a 45-50$ phone. I remember vividly cause I Google'd that phone when I saw your post, don't know if it was on one of my videos or maybe Retro Handhelds but all I know is that phone could not be bought in Canada. You really are proving to be a connoisseur of Android gaming, both current and legacy, most people don't even know what HID mode is, you are here breaking it down as well as PD protocols. I salute thee! 🫡 This whole post is :chefskiss: honestly. And that 3xR is something I need to do more in my life, I appreciate the ones that do. For most platformers, it's totally fine. If you are speedrunning Super Meat Boy and Geometry Dash, plus stick to the X2s Type-C. But for leisure gaming, convenience of the X2s Bluetooth is definitely superior to the Type-C equivalent and the latency, while higher, is not terrible, it's just a very very little present.

@GameTechTalk2 ай бұрын
It's definitely bearable but I think in super modern BT controllers, this one sits at the entry level of acceptable performance, it is not G8Plus and while the latency shouldn't be noticeable in most games, I wouldn't want this controller for competitive mobile gameplay personally. But for leisure and just fun gaming in and out, I would be 100% ok with it. So WW and ZZZ, sure no problem, COD, idk.

@@megatbasyarullah4859 Well, seeing as EasySMX M05 and M10 both have a wired connection primarily, I'd say you'll have a superior experience and from where I stand, I consider the M05 to be better than the M10 and better than the X2s BT and X2s USB-C. With that said, the BT mode on the EasySMX controllers are about on part to the Bluetooth on this one, it's more of a: "Oh nice, it's there" than a "This is what I want to use by default". If it is important for you that Bluetooth is your main connection method, I think the X2s BT will serve that better overall. The M05 would be better if you like the thought of keeping your phone plugged while gaming.

Sadly, I gave this one away in a giveaway so I wouldn't be able to confirm, however, one reason why I'm inclined to guarantee that it will is because of how MFi works on Apple devices. If the controller is accepted, it goes through the MFi protocol which basically means Apple accepts the controller, then, Apple dictates where the controller can or cannot work. As far as I know, anytime a controller gets through MFi (which the X2s Bluetooth does 100% guaranteed), it works for every software that officially supports a gamepad. If you can, get it from Amazon to refund in case it don't work. But if you were sitting next to me, I'd bet you $50 that it's gonna work because I know it would be easy money made, that's how certain I am that it will work.

@GameTechTalk3 ай бұрын
As it is bluetooth, the "if" is far more dependant on the OS of your device, than the device itself. Android has supported controllers for quite some time but I can't say I remember which version of Android specifically, as for iOS, since iOS 12 if I recall? So as long as you are on recent firmwares, yes, it will work guaranteed. If you're unsure, do a quick Google search for "controller support android X" with the version you're on and you'll know in a matter of seconds.

Thank you
@GameTechTalk3 ай бұрын
I'm unsure I understand all the queries you had but here goes: -Both G8Plus and X2s BT are indeed bluetooth controllers -Both have analog triggers but the G8Plus does have better quality and feeling ones -G8Plus feels like a living room console controller, with the more "ergonomically" and comfortable design. Still, the X2s BT remains amongst the more comfortable solutions for a "pocketable and highly mobile" telescopic controller solution. -Both can work wired, however the G8Plus will more comfortable stretch for larger tablets 11" and over, also the G8Plus has more modes for a potentially better compatibility overall. X2s BT if stretched beyond 10" tablets (still capable to) will find itself never fully closing because the coils are going to be stretch a little too wide. My pleasure, cheers!

I had mentioned this on a prior vid of yours (the one where you reviewed all the telescopic controllers you owned and ranking them) but I have been awaiting something to replace my G8 as I have a Surface Duo and it bugs me having the screens not in the proper DS orientation. After seeing this one along with the other review on G8+, I’m wondering if bluetooth is the right way to go or if I should go for the X2S with the usb-c on the left… I’m conflicted for these reasons: I love the ergonomics of my G8 and I definitely prefer the all black look of the G8+.. but it’s a touch too expensive to rebuy another G8 and also, I do prefer the look of the smaller foot print of the X2S… The Bluetooth X2S shown here has an amazing color scheme but loses out on many features of the G8 The USB-C X2S has my least favorite color but it is wired.. What sucks is that none of these bluetooth options have pass-through charging like my G8 and no headphone jack…. Sigh, such few options but there’s no definitive champ yet for foldable phones.

It's not on-par with the G8+ performance, I can tell you as much. It's average bluetooth upper tier performance but nothing special. I benched 12ms latency average. But if we remove jitter out of the equation, it's an 8ms performing controller so 125hz polling rate but doesn't hit it steady like their latest controller. Also, wired on Xbox mode, it polls at 500hz 😱 that sure was a lovely unexpected surprise but I forgot to include it in the review... 😫

We need a updated tier list ! i heard the SMX controllers feel cheap and don't have software so i think you might've ranked them too high brother.
@GameTechTalk5 ай бұрын
The M05 does have software but it's not proprietary. The M10 doesn't. Still, all these controllers can rely on third-party software such as Mantis or Octopus. That said, my rankings rely primarily on ergonomics, buttons, quality and overall performance, software is a component but definitely not as important (for me at least). "Cheap" is relative. Tessen at 100$? Definitely cheap. (review coming shortly) EasySMX M05 feeling on-par at 30$ (some even find it at 20$), that's not cheap, that's great value. You know... I have been tempted to update tier lists because things have been moving quickly lately... I feel like if I commit to making them once a month, that's all I'm going to do so I will definitely hold off longer but rest assured that it won't be a year before I make another one. Clearly people love tier lists and I appreciate making them, I'm just waiting to have new models. I'm thinking one every 3 months would be feasible, what do you think?

@GameTechTalk Sounds fair obviously you know more than me because I don't own it. So I mean maybe your right it probably does belong where you placed it because I saw another review and people said it's a upgrade to the Kishi V2 with better buttons, ergonomics, hall effect joysticks just minus the software, touch mapping and premium feel. I think 3 months is good for tier list I think this year just had so many new releases in the mobile controller space that everyone is looking for reviews. Gamesir went crazy with the G8, X2s, G8+ X2s bluetooth, also Kishi Ultra, SMX M10 these all came out recently I feel, probably won't see these companies drop something for a while now. This place was dead last year or 2 years ago it was just gamesir x2, kishi v1 and the backbone.

this x2s BT battery life how long?the old models x2 BT only 20 hour

I'm sorry to say that I don't have that info. I couldn't find how many mAh it has anywhere, not even on the box or manual. The unit I used for the review has been repackaged as I will soon send it for giveaway but I did test approximately 6 hrs with it to no problems but to tell you how much was left, I completely forgot to look in all honesty. Sorry for that.

Does it have delay? (Bluetooth version)
@GameTechTalk5 ай бұрын
It does but not to an unpleasant degree. I do wish to specify that even wired does have some delay, not perceptible but it does, so to give you numbers for example, most wired controllers are 8ms (though we're starting to see 4ms and 2ms), this controller is approximately 10ms. Still better than most bluetooth controllers of the past 2-3 years but there is also better (3-4ms bluetooth delays in some controllers). Cheers! :)

the bluetooth on the G8 Plus has better latency you say?
@GameTechTalk5 ай бұрын
Most definitely. Nothing wrong with the X2s though as it’s pretty standard, it’s really the G8+ that is performing beyond the norm.

Maybe a dumb question, but would this connect to the Nintendo Switch?
@GameTechTalk5 ай бұрын
Not a dumb question at all, this is becoming more and more of a feature. Unfortunately, it will not. From GameSir at least, the sole model to do this effectively is the G8+ but I wouldn't be surprised if future models support that feature too.

Can you use Xbox cloud gaming on this device?

Not exactly, there is no x-input mode per say but with BetterXcloud, that problem is completely resolved. So yes you can, with the right software, BetterXcloud.

I want this controller for one reason only ... to play damn Hoyoverse games! Specifically Honkai Star Rail. For some reason, Hoyoverse just won't make native controller support for their mobile games. I attempted to map the USB-C version, but it is really finicky and somewhat compromises on navigating menus. Hopefully this one works so I can finally have a way to play without needing to jump through hoops.

I hope you find solution to your problem friend! Otherwise, one of the BSP controllers will do fine too as you have all the modes you could ever want!

I tried the X2s (non bluetooth) with my iPhone 15 Pro and couldn't get Genshin Impact to work with it. I never found a solution so I returned it. Does this one work with Genshin Impact?
@GameTechTalk5 ай бұрын
I tested it just now, it does work. The controller you had was probably stuck on the wrong mode. GameSir addressed that with this one, I didn't mention it during the review but they now detect that it's an iOS based phone and they force you into a compatible mode specific to iOS (something the X2s didn't do, you had to manually change it). I'd say if you liked the shape of the X2s, rest assured that every other iOS based issue you had are gone with this one.
@PegCityFrancis5 ай бұрын
@@GameTechTalk Thanks for testing that out. I thought I had tried the different modes when I used the X2s but I must have done it wrong. I also didn't like how I needed to take my phone case off to use the X2s so I'm liking the idea of the Bluetooth version. Now I'm on the fence between this X2s Bluetooth or G8+ Bluetooth.

@@PegCityFrancis Ohhh you are mentioning the G8+ to the wrong guy, assuming you saw my review (and maybe even the mod video)? You'll know I will STRONGLY recommend the G8+ hehehe! If you have questions, don't hesitate, cheers!

Kinda surprised the wired X2S has issues on iOS since iOS should already support X-Input
@GameTechTalk5 ай бұрын
iOS Supports X-Input but only wirelessly. I did a whole video addressing MFi and how it works and why certain controllers will work wireless and not wired. Quite frankly, I thought they would've patched it in by now but Apple doesn't bend to nobody's will (Except the European Council 😂). In case you're interested in that video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hZfRiql4gc6Hb9k
@terribletimes9025 ай бұрын
@@GameTechTalk Interesting. I’ve noticed similar issues with games predating 2019 that had to use the MFi standard, before Apple implemented more general controller support. A specific one is Shadowgun Legends. MFi controllers work fine, but keybinds are severely messed up on PS controllers.
@muhdzaidi30514 ай бұрын
It's a good controller except for the fact it's so hard to pair it with my phone and once I have paired it, then it's hard to auto-connect. I have to turn on/off bluetooth on my phone a few times to successfully connect it. So annoying. I never had this problem with any of my bluetooth controllers before There's also a bug where the controller keeps disconnecting on firmware 1.2. It could easily be fixed with firmware update (though it still disconnects sometimes when you launch a game in g-touch mode)
@GameTechTalk4 ай бұрын
Sorry to hear you're having these issues. I don't have it anymore but from souvenirs, it was decent, lovely color scheme, with that said, it wouldn't be my "go to" personally, but I understand why it might for some people. Unfortunate that you're having issues though! :(
