Better Fly Tying Scissors (Premax Ring Lock System)

This video is a short review on scissors for fly tying. Regardless of what they are called these are great items for the fly tying enthusiast, wether new to the hobby or an old hand. They come at a very agreeable price compared to made for fly tying scissors.

Hi Lindsay. The whip finish tool you have there is the one I use. I’ve watched a lot of fly tying vids and to be honest quite a few different tools I’ve seen look to be making hard work of it. For one thing the last point that’s being used as you end the process is quite sharp on your one but on some I’ve seen that end part is flat and blunt. Obliviously this makes removing it as you finish that much harder. Another one I saw had far too much metalwork going on and made the job more difficult. Persevere with that one you have and, trust me, you’ll be glad you did. Once you have the hang of it you will not look back. Stay safe and stay positive dude.

I got myself 2 pairs of embroidery scissors from a wee knife/scissors shop and when one pair gets a bit blunt I take them back to the shop to get sharpened , they were about £20 a pair but they are excellent for the really fine work. Keep the vids coming Lindsay and stay safe mate. ATB Chris

Thanks for the information on the scissors. I will no doubt purchase a pair shortly. The visor you recommended has had plenty of use over the last week or two thanks to corona virus isolation. As you say they are excellent and very good value for the money.

Those scissors look great and I’m looking for a new pair. I’ve started using the nano silks recently and realised my 99p scissors are no longer fit for purpose. Are these scissors any good with curing nano silks? The 4” ones not the kopter ones

Yes they are nice and sharp, the Kopter ones do have a aerated edge though that make them ideal for nano silks.

So are these a Kopter scissors ripoff or are these the same thing and Kopter scissors is just rebranding and charging a bucket load. Kopter $85 vs these ones for $25.

I think that Kopter worked with the company to produce their version hence they look the same. These are Embroidery scissors and I find them excellent. I don't buy into the specially made for fly tying bit.

Lindsay Simpson nah it’s clear that Kopter is just a rip off along with 90% of other fly tying company’s. Charging you extra dollars of their logo is a blatant ripoff and a scam imho.

James, I think they are great value I have paid up to £30 for scissors in the past. I know others that have paid much more!
