After renting for 12 years my parents finally bought a home. I remember Mom subscribing to BHG 1965. She ordered various kits for decorating projects. She got one of the cookbooks. I basically taught myself to cook from 4th grade on using that same cookbook. Congratulations on 100 years!

I have a 1942 edition of the "Better Homes & Gardens Cook Book" that belonged to my grandmother. There are penciled notes in the margins and a few spills on the pages. All of which make it even more precious to me. Because of WWII, there are many recipes that have substitutions, based on limited food types during the war.

As my love of magazines is in it's twilight, now hard to find ones still published, my heart was so happy to see BH&G enlarged and ready to meet my magazine addiction. I will treasure every issue now. Thank you for sticking around.

The BHG gives ideas to people to improve their lives. Us poor people can't afford all of it, but a ray of sunshine is better than darkness.

Sad to say, that after subscribing since my first home in 1978, they sent me a notice that I would no longer get a printed copy mailed to me. I do not want to look at digital issues, so that is that. I said to cancel and refund any left over issues. Never heard a word. :o(

This used to be a fine magazine. Generations of women in my family have enjoyed it, and looked forward to receiving each edition. I canceled my subscription, however, when the issue arrived containing the strange photos of Harry Styles. Too many of the ever-dwindling number of pages of BHG were dedicated to this layout, and we frankly didn't see the purpose. Sadly, we now feel alienated by the content of a magazine we grew up with, and loved.

My friend thought a more appropriate title would be Better Homes Than Yours.
I enjoyed the Harry Styles issue. The cover caught my attention - so different! Yet it was about home and life and I thought it was a fine feature for a summer edition magazine.

What a shame they've gotten so far away from what the magazine was built on. Today it's unreasonable homes to emulate, ridiculously contemporary recipes and no reader interaction. The old magazines offer so much more to the reader than the new one does.

The fact that you see the former First Lady being on the cover of a magazine as a political statement, without even (I am sure) reading the article says a lot. The feature was about the White House garden and healthy eating by the way. Socialism!!!
