I find it super interesting when you talked about adjusting your makeup look when filming your "booktube" videos. Honestly, intelligence and vanity should be independent of each other. What's wrong with an incredibly smart woman who happens to take the extra time to dress-up and play with makeup? It sucks how women still have to deal with this standard. Just do whatever you want Jenn, I fully support the full glam book videos!

It just struck me that I NEVER had a deep conversation with my parents.... Also, as I grow up, I'm starting to see my parents as people/ individuals rather than as "my parents". This realization has helped me accept their flaws and shortcomings. I'd have to say, my parents are in many ways an example in terms of what not to do rather than what to do lmao but ayyy, I'm grateful for that still.

I love seeing such a successful youtuber pronouncing Asian food with full confidence and discussing the flavors in such an everyday way. I grew up feeling like my Japanese lunches were so “exotic” and weird to others when to me, they were comfortable and normal. I used to think I never fit into the beauty or cultural standards until I found KZbin and saw Asian style influencers that looked like me and ate like me. I love seeing it 💕

Oh Jenn ✨ I loved the talk about how you appreciate and speak with your parents. I haven't seen my father since I was 9 and my mom recently passed away in July. Being parent-less at 23 has been so heart wrenching, I wish I had learned that lesson earlier too. But your videos have been a great source of inspiration on getting everything back together after it all fell apart this year.

Loved this video so much! First jennglebell (?) I watch! For me, specially the part where Ben talked about how you don’t really tell your parents how grateful you are for them when you’re young had me almost tearing up. My dad passed away five years ago and then my mom was sick for a bit and when you lose one parent you cherish the other one twice more - and, kinda in a way become their parent, specially if you emigrated and don’t have any other family but your parent, so for me, I actually do make an effort to tell my mom everyday how grateful I am to have her, to be able to spend time with her, to help her achieve whatever she dreams of. Can’t take for granted how long she’ll be by my side so we make the best with each day we have

What Ben is going through is something I'm going through too. I'd never think I would be telling my parents I have a boyfriend or whether I'm *cough" active *cough sexually *cough*. But we are so far apart, being transparent and true to what you say is super important. Super essential if you and your family want to get closer. I've been closer to my parents. And they treat me as an adult.... Yikes... Feels so weird. And I have Asian parents as well. I think the distance really made me appreciate my family overall. They've always been there. And when they're not physically there they try to be more understanding and engaging. Ben is so brave to be so far from his family. I can empathize with his situation.
