I promise that with these tips you will be able to improve your manuals in one session! My girlfriend April has been riding mountain bikes for the last two years and has been progressing really fast. It seems like ever week she is asking me to help her learn a new skill and so we thought we should share this learning process with you guys and see if we could help some of you master new skills as well!

I’ve watched a million how to manual videos, and have to say this is the best because it pauses to describe what not to do. Most other ones talk about doing an L shape and all that, but if you’re doing it wrong you won’t know what to fix. And I practically ripped the arm out of my shoulder once trying to figure it out, and after seeing this the lightbulb has gone off. I’ve been stretching my legs completely out causing my torso to lean forward.... thank you Kyle!!!

Yo man! Great idea coaching your girlfriend. I find it's useless for someone who can already manual well to demonstrate how to learn to do it. Man when you hit that sweet spot the first time it's scary! Lol but seriously great video! I've been riding for four years now and no joke after watching your video in about a half hour I'm getting 20 foot manuals already. It really is so simple! Head up, arms locked, and let it ride! Can't wait to get to 40 feet next!

I love all of your videos! Watching April get coached step-by-step has been especially helpful for a beginner like me. I can't ever learn it as fast or as well as she does, but it's better than what i was doing before. You both are so calm and nice, so it doesn't feel stressful to watch the video like other tutorial videos! Thank you for all of these wonderful tips...i wish i had a personal Kyle coach in my life 😊

I have been trying to manual for a while now, and I still can't get it. I think I have good form, and I know that I'm not pulling up with my arms. I was wondering if my frame shape has to do with it, since it is low and long, (30 LBS) and 26" wheels. I am also under 100 LBS so was wondering if that has to do with it. Thanks!

It is hard to know without seeing. Try filming yourself and comparing it to Kyle when he does a good manual in this video. I know that common problems I have are looking down, not squatting enough (in this video I usually had my legs too straight and you can see how much bend Kyle gets) and another thing is not getting my hips back enough. -April

Nice work, one of the better manual tutorials out there and I've watched them all (including the ones in different languages with no subtitles). You nail the subtleties that make a huge difference (heels down and looking straight ahead) and are easy to forget about. Love to see you put out a thorough J-hop tutorial in the future! Thanks for sharing.
