Update: I tested these out on yesterday's ride and I'm still super-impressed.

Yesterdays ride consisted of what speeds? I've tried several speakers and once you hit around 55+ mph, the road noise pretty much drown out the speakers.

It’s that way with any helmet speaker system

Your reaction with the helmet on is spot on what everyone will say when they hear them first time, have mine 2 years and they still impress me

I appreciate your review. I've been using Sena and Cardo units for years and would recommend sticking with that 10 just for listening to music. The Packtalk Edge is the best helmet intercom system I've ever used, but the XSound 3 speakers are a better investment for solo rides. The main benefits of Packtalk units is when you connect multiple helmets for communication. The older Sena units are great for tunes on the ride.

The "leather foam piece" you describe at the 55 second mark is intended to slip into your helmet, after putting it on, and pushing your earlobes down flat. Kind of like a shoe-horn for your head. A neat idea if you're bothered by having your ears pinched over inside your helmet.

Your reaction says it all about the quality of the upgrade. Def going to have to check these out!

Tyler was over yesterday and I showed him some new headsets I have to test. He commented how weak the speakers are on his Sena. I had him put on my helmet with the new speakers. When he took it off he said "I'm buying those. Where do I get them?"
@JackF993 жыл бұрын
I upgraded to these for my Sena 20. Definitely better bass response however had to add a volume booster app to my phone (where my music is) because they are definitely less loud than the Sena speakers. Note I have no windscreen and use earplugs to block wind noise and so have to max out the speaker volume to get through the ear plugs. Sounds crazy but it works. Those of you with a windscreen should have no issues with volume

I ride alone, but I love to have music playing and the normal iPods just keep falling off my ears no matter what I do to them (plastic adapters, tape etc. ) These ones are really what I need. Thanks for the review!

I've not yet entered into the Bluetooth communication community, but would definitely enjoy them for listening to music and/or my GPS's verbal directions. Thanks for the info. Continued safe travels.

I rock a Cardo with the upgraded 40mm, not the 45mm JBL. They get loud but still have tinny and crackling sounding when cranked. the JBL speakers Are $80 ($90msrp) not $50. The only reason I’d lean towards those is the integration with Cardo that they have in the Cardo App. Thanks for the review!

My bad, I grabbed the price for the 40m instead of the JBL 45

I just bought the 10s and am greatly disappointed in the volume. At anything over 45 mph I’m straining to hear music at 55 or over I can’t hear nothing at max volume. Does this upgrade actually benefit you at highway speeds (Texas has some 80+ roads). Also have you looked at connecting a small amp to them?
@2WR4 жыл бұрын
Used to have to turn the factory speakers up nearly all the way on the interstate. Can hear these clearly at 80+. Can hear them fine with my ear plugs in. Some may come down to quality/type of helmet too. Didn’t look into any amps
@chenry4fitness4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the response. I installed mine on the icon airflite. I think I’ll position and try to get them up against my ears but I’m leaning toward this and I’ll try the iasus ear3 amp if that doesn’t worj
@MrLundefaret3 жыл бұрын
Also important that you place the speakers correctly. Some millimeters off can make a big difference. First mounted my Sena 10s and was very disappointed. Then placed them better, and now they work really good. Will still consider this upgrade as even though volume is good, sound quality is not so good.

Can I use them with my Cardo +2 with a microphone?

Hey Mario, I have a Schuberth helmet with the internal Sena set up made for the helmet. I get distortion when I turn up the volume due to the factory speakers not being able to handle the bass. I use normal foam earplugs so I need to turn up the volume to hear my music. How do they sound with the No Noise ear plugs.....
@2WR5 жыл бұрын
While I don't pretend the exact science with the No Noise, they allow you to hear sounds like music and voice while deadening the wind noise. I really like them.

Hey, do they fit in the same space as the original Sena speakers? Or are they so big that you would have to "fit" them into the helmet foam?
@2WR4 жыл бұрын
Deeper so may have to trim some foam (depends on the helmet)

Hi Mario, I watched your KZbin video on speaker upgrades for motorcycle helmets. I bought LEXIN FT4 Pro and didn’t like the sound quality. So I bought some IASUS speakers which sound better but now I can’t use the microphone. I can’t find an adapter/splitter that accommodates the original LEXIN microphone and speakers and the upgraded IASUS speakers. Any suggestions is greatly appreciated!
@2WR3 жыл бұрын
Steve, I don't have any familiarity with the Lexin units; only Sena and Cardo. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Hey Mario - good review always. Question for you. I just got an Arai xd4 and I’m looking at comm and speaker options. It’s the first helmet I’ve had without speaker cut outs. Do these fit into the Arai check pads ok without mashing your ears? No pain putting the helmet on?
@2WR4 жыл бұрын
You'll need to remove some of the foam from the cheek pads to get them to fit without rubbing

hey mario. did you listen to any TOOL?
@kouvanos2 жыл бұрын
My question is... Do they produce same sound quality on a cheap intercom headset, with a more expensive intercom headset? Or i have to buy a 150€ intercom headset, in order to take the best sound quality of them? Does the cheap/expensive intercom headset makes any difference or i will get the best sound quality no matter what?
@2WR2 жыл бұрын
Tough to say. I know on my older Sena, they definitely improved the sound quality. That said, when this comm unit came out, it was one of the best. I think the speakers can improve any unit, but the unit itself (overall quality) may or may not prove to be a better upgrade.

If you're just looking for good sound, yes. Can't comment on how well the SF2 does range wise with other comms but you'll get great quality sound with the speaker upgrade.

2 Wheeled Rider i would be enjoying it if their company wasnt so incompetent that they cant seem to get it shipped to me. Ordered it on Mar1, on Mar 9th i asked where it was, and the idiot said that their “fulfillment” company failed to ship it out. Then he asks me if i still want it.... What an idiot. Then when i request that it be overnighted, he tries to get ME to pay for the overnight.... So now i have to pay for their crappy employees.
