These speakers according to Cardo are a collaborative effort between JBL and Cardo so I would consider them an upgraded OEM component. After I installed mine in my helmet I played some music from my iPhone to see how they sounded, this was without riding the motorcycle. Frankly, my helmet with these JBL speakers sounded just as good as my Bose headphones, pretty darn good in other words. Couldn't be happier with the upgrade. While riding I can now distinguish every word from someone talking to me on the intercom at 70MPH. Cardo, with its DMC intercom protocol and now this enhanced audio experience makes it the premier headset device without a doubt.

Thnx!! Finally Someone who has had the cardo packtalk with original speakers and is comparing the jbl ones to the original! Also great explanation on the install etc. I also had the problem mounting the original ones into my Shark helmet! So now i know when i'm gonna update i need to make the holes wider also! Considering updating now since you said it sounds even better!

Yes I agree I love my new JBL 45mm speakers too! I had to do the same thing with making the space bigger inside the helmet on my NOLAN helmet.

The large 45mm speakers fit into the speaker wells of my Shoei GT-Air helmet without a problem, however, I was installing them only because a fellow 2018 Goldwing rider recommended the JBL speakers to me that he says he used with his Sena 20s EVO. Really? So, I bought them and they sounded great, but with my Sena, it required a lot of spinning of the volume dial. I removed them and set them aside. But, again, they sounded great.

What’s wrong with using the jbl speakers with the sena 20s??

I bought the new version in February (Cardo Packtalk Bold - JBL) which comes with these speakers to replace my set of Sena 20s. I've never been happier with a headset. Very nice sound. I'm just waiting for the extra helmet mount kit with the new speakers in them. I have multiple style helmets and want the JBL kit on all.

The JBL version of Packtalk Bold doesn't ship with these speakers. Original JBL speakers are 40 mm. These are an upgrade to both original Bold and Bold JBL.

You've just saved me the price of two new helmets with the Dremmel tip. I installed the Freecom 4 plus duo's into mine and my wifes helmets and we were struggling to get them on and off with the 40mm speakers. I stripped them down and will cut out the excess material. Many thanks from the UK. Great Channel.....

Hi, I have to ask a question. I have installed the speakers in my helmet and also installed the "JBL" software on my phone. But I get no confirmation that the software has been transferred to the "Packtalk" device. Now to my questions. 1: How can I be sure that the software is transferred? 2: Do I have to keep my phone "on" all the time for the software to work? I know these questions may seem ridiculous, but I'm a complete idiot when it comes to "APPs" and smartphones. Please help me.

I just got a Cardo Bold system and putting in a 2nd helmet set for my open face helmet. I ordered the Cardo .40mm speakers as after much research, learned there is almost no difference betten the 40 and 45mm speakers. Good luck with yours.

@@alexandergoodenough1649 Yes I have both. So, I put the 45s in my open face helmet, so I can hear better and I use this helmet by far the most on my cruiser. 45s are little louder and I needed the extra volume they have. The 40s are in my full face and works fine. AFter almost a year I know the 45s are little better quality with base and volume over the 40s.

@@stockmatthew2010 I have the same setup as you and the audio quality is fantastic at all volume levels. No distortion and perfect bass. Maybe experiement a bit with your speaker placement. They should be touching your ears. Many helmets provide a thin flap of material covering the speaker cavities. This flap can sit between the speakers and your ears without affecting sound quality. Also, make sure your phone volume is turned all the way up then use the Cardo to control the volume level after that.
