When connecting the mic to the transmitter it is best to rotate the transmitter NOT THE MIC. This will reduce the possibility of work-hardening the copper strands in the mic cable that will inevitably lead to an internal break in the wire and a subsequent microphone failure.

@@GabrielVIP So I'm running a very simple system: my iPhone and my Rode Wireless Pro to record brewery tours. Do you have any videos on how to increase the recording volume when only using an iPhone? I appreciate everything you shared if using a camera, but some of that doesn't necessarily apply with the iPhone set up... Thanks for all you've shared though... Thanks for this video Gabriel, well done! I was a victim of the locking collar issue you mentioned. I have other lav mics with a locking collar and they cannot be removed. I had expected the same behavior from the Rode mics. I had no idea that the collar is actually threaded on to the Rode connector and can be removed. As a result the first time I used the lav mic on one of my transmitters the connector did not seat properly. Because my receiver was set to MERGE the transmitters, I quickly looked and saw audio on both left and right channels and did not pay close enough attention to the fact that one of the transmitters was not actually sending audio. As a result I had NO AUDIO at all from one of the transmitters. This collar design is unusual. This not a mistake I will make again. You have some great tips in here, thanks again for sharing your knowledge with the rest of us! By the way I also agree with you request to be able to add a prefix to the file name. I don't like that both transmitters have the same exact file names.

To make sure I know which files are from which transmitter, I’ll do the export feature to two different folders. My TX1 would go to the folder named “left” and my TX2 would go to the folder named “right.” This is probably the best workaround I can do. But for all you pros out there - what do you recommend? Rode needs to make a 32-bit field recorder similar to and better than the Tascam Portacapture X8. That would be truly AWESOME!

I don't have the wireless pro but I always enjoy your tutorials anyway! Here's a question: I have the DJI Mic system, is this worth the change to it if I sell the DJI? I don't use them a ton but they're handy when I do need a wireless mic. Also, second question: when wearing the transmitter on my collar or shirt, every time I move or turn, you can hear the rustling of the shirt etc...its very annoying as it ruins the audio and takes lots of editing time to remove all those sounds...it makes using these a pain. What do you suggest for that?
@GabrielVIP Жыл бұрын
Hey bro. Thank you for your comment. If you need 32 bit float yes! If you don’t need that, it’s too much effort to sel and buy another one. The difference in quality is there but not that big. Also, change if you use often the lav mic because this has that locking system. DJI doesn’t have that. For the second question…try to use shirts not T-shorts. Lav mics will stay better in a shirt but if you move too much, those annoying sound will still be there. Thank you :)

I’m trying to get the best sound on a stage about 150 feet away (i generally do small theater jobs) from a Sony a7s DSLR. Can’t figure out if the quality of the sound would be better just throwing one of these little wireless transmitters on the stage floor or putting the videomic + shotgun on the dlsr…or 3rd option which is using both by connecting the shotgun to wireless pro near theater speakers. Thanks by the way.
@GabrielVIP11 ай бұрын
Hey! I don't think is the right choice for what you want to do. 150 feet can be a little bit too far. And for a stage, I always prefer to record from the main mixer with a professional recorder like a zoom f3. It's hard to catch good sound from the speakers.

Most of the time, if the distance between the transmitter and receiver is not big, it should be ok, but I can't be sure. The best thing to do is to test it. 2. You can plug you 3.5mm jack directly in to the sound amplifier if your sound amplifier has a 3.5mm input. You need to check. It really depends on your sound amplifier.

@@GabrielVIP So my device really has a problem. When fully charged, my RX still lit up and said it was charging, leading to overheating.
@GabrielVIP Жыл бұрын
Try to upgrade the firmware. It can be a software problem. Or send a message to Rode.

@@GabrielVIP can I ask also what the small yellow clock means next to your recorded audio? Some of my recordings have it and some of them dont
@GabrielVIP4 ай бұрын
I am not 100% sure. I will check. It is possible to be something about timecode.

This was such a great tutorial. I got a lot from this. Also, where did you get the colour pieces for this ?
@GabrielVIP Жыл бұрын
Hey thank you! Glad you like it. Those colours that you see at the beginning are added in my editing software to catch attention. :D

Can you record independently straight from the wireless pro and not connect it in the camera?
@GabrielVIPАй бұрын
Hey! Yes! You can record internally in your transmitter without connecting it to any other device :)

Hello Gabriel, I’m planning to use these mics with my iPhone. However, even with the gain settings maxed out, the audio is super quiet. Any idea what the problem might be?
@GabrielVIP11 ай бұрын
Hey. I tested them on iPhone like this: The receiver on manual mode at 0 and the Transmitter was on Automatic Gain or Dynamic. Everything was fine. If you still have super low volume, try. to increase the gain on receiver, but I think you will be ok.
@aronsadventures11 ай бұрын
@@GabrielVIP I actually had the same settings and even talking right into the mic was quiet. I have to max the volume in CapCut to even hear myself. Were you testing with the native camera app?
@GabrielVIP11 ай бұрын
Yes! The native app. Something is strange. I can’t really think of what can drive to this problem. If I will find something I will come back to you!

Maybe you can help me =) I would like to record with an iPhone and tripod. Is the Rode Smart Grip also compatible with the Rode Wireless Pro? Unfortunately I couldn't find any information about it and you have the ultimate guide =)
@GabrielVIP Жыл бұрын
Hey. Thank you for your comment. All you need is a phone holder with a cold show on top and a mounting thread at the bottom. Rode wireless pro receiver is compatible with any classic cold shoe. And the mounting thread is to connect the phone holder to your tripod. Cheers!

Hey! Connect the receiver to your PC and in the Rode Connect app you have that setting.
