Love you videos as usual. For this topic, I have something to say, jsut a slight different opinion. I personally is a KEF fanboy, and I got 2 sets of active speaker and soundbar for both my bedroom and living room. Living room is hw-n950 soundbar + ls50 wireless, and bedroom is ht-st5000 and lsx. I got to say that LSX is much better sounding than its outlook, and it's truly powerful and amazing, it maybe right saying that it outperforms most of the soundabr, however, not all. St-5000 in my personal opinion, have the same level of sound quality, with even more powerful sounding especially in low end. With some testing song such as "The Thestral Chase by James Newton Howard", "Adagio by Lara Fabian", and "Helium Sia", the performs is both amazing, just with different advantages. Btw, I use the upmix mode in st5000 which simply disable the soundfield. While lsx provides more stereo spearation and a slight clear top, st5000 provides more dynamic sounding with huge soudstage, high, width and deep. The voice are equally crystal clear, when lsx is come from left and right, and st5000 comes from the central. Which is better is just own opinions. But lsx just simply can't handle "The Thestral Chase" 's huge dynamic in high volume, as the bass is lacking and top becomes harsh, which that kinds of feeling feels much less in st5000. I'm not saying st5000 is better than lsx, but as a soundbar, it ACTUALLY HOLD ITS OWN. It's subwoofer is class leading in soundbar categories, and I give them a tie which they're both great comes to music and movie, and I don't think lsx is better than st5000, but equally good.

You'd likely get an even better sound via optical out TV to optical in LSX as the digital to analog conversion is then handled by the DAC on the LSX rather than the likely inferior DAC of the TV.

@@geekanoids ... Can you set the TV optical out to FIXED or VARIABLE? Can you turn the LSX up? FIXED - the TV will forfeit it's volume control to the Amp(Speakers). VARIABLE - the TV volume control will still work. If you are using the TV headphone (analog) out - you'd likely have to turn the TV volume right up because output will be at HEADPHONE level rather than the greater LINE level.

I was recommended these at an audio shop, however, I still can't come round to them. I won't be connecting them to a tv. I just want a good music system. But the more I look around the more I feel £1000 could be spent on something better sounding minus all the smart features, the smart features which will be reliant on their app, which will only be as good as their support.
@geekanoids5 жыл бұрын
True, spend £700 on some regular non-smart KEF speakers and £300 on an entry level amp may get you better audio. However, these are designed for settings where you don't want to accommodate an amplifier. The app is used for setup, but then you can just control with the remote control and use the aux in and bluetooth sources.

I've owned three active KEF units which were all excellent. Sadly ALL failed under normal use after just over a years use. Let's be honest, the audience for soundbars are people who really don't care about audio at all and are happy with 'lifestyle' products (you know 'premium' brands). Dare I say that it's very easy to impress Joe public because TV speakers are crap and any front facing drivers improve that right away. Couple this with the fact that there are nearly no retailers left to offer any choice to the public mediocre 5.1 set ups and soundbars dominate the market. Those lovely KEFs are eyewateringly expensive at £1000. Maybe, just maybe you could Showcase very capable inventory from Edifier, Steljes, Ruark or Goodmans in the sub £500 quid category. It's 2020 and it seems to be a real nadir for listening equipment..... Nice video.

Well to be honest I was expecting a price range of about £129 which in reality is the price they should be. Honestly £1,000 is a ridiculous price to pay just to get a better sound from your TV and if you are spending that you might just as well buy an AV Receiver, 5 speakers and a subwoofer for the same money or spend a bit more. I for one would not even rate any Soundbar either and even £100 is a ridiculous price to pay for one of those things never mind those that are charging much more. I would hardly say that these KEF's were wireless either, especially when you consider that you have to have 2 electric power points to plug the bloody things in. Sorry to say it but as a rule I think KEF make some good speakers, and I am not saying these are not. But they are way too in practical for my liking and at this price just for a couple of speakers to get a better sound from your TV is absoloutly RIDICULOUS. If people want a better sound from their TV on a budget price and let's face it, if you have not got an AV setup all you are really going to need is a cheap alternative way of getting a better sound from it. I would seriously suggest looking at 2.1 Speakers that come with a subwoofer you can get for computers. You would be surprised how well they sound for very little money and they only come with one power point to plug in your wall which is more practical than these things are and will only cost you around £30 - £40 not something stupid like this. For Christ sake even a decent TV cost less than half the price of these KEF's :)))))))))))).

Hey no problem at all and I am honestly amazed even how people will pay more money for a mobile phone than a TV and think the world has gone mad LOL. Don't get me wrong I have an AV surround setup myself and it did not cost that much more than these speakers. It will also do a damn site more than these speakers on their own are ever gonna do just being plugged into the amp that's in any TV as well. No doubt today's TV's do not sound that great, especially with the cabinets being made out of plastic instead of wood like the old TV's from years ago. But my Mrs does not have a problem listening to the TV as it is for the last 10 years, and the only time I ever run it through my AV setup is when I wanna watch a film or play music either on Blu Ray or DVD and stream a film from Amazon or Nerflix. So I do not even see the point of having any more speakers at all. But if you have not got an AV setup, things like additional speakers will help you get a better sound from your TV including soundbars. But honestly you do not have to spend a great deal of money on them to do that at all. If I was spending a GRAND I would certainly go with an AV setup not these KEF's that's for sure. By the way I think you are a very good presenter and do a very good job here on the Tube and I cannot fault that at all. I also like seeing new products such as you are presenting here, regardless of if I like them or not. I am just not too willy nilly when it comes to parting with my bucks :))))) and am more for the budget products these days and like to see value for my money :))))))). I would even say that these days there are quite a few good quality products you can buy for very little these days that have come on a long way in comparison to how much they would of cost many moons ago too.

These are not intended to be used JUST to replace your tv speakers!! And the whole point of buying these speakers is to AVOID having a giant AV receiver and multiple speakers and wires all over your house...
