I love Kinbor, every year is part of my line up, but in 2025 I will use weeks size, A6 daily & A5 weekly timeline. 🤭

This is what I needed to see so thank you! I wanted a hobonichi weeks because I like the layout of it but didn’t want to spend so much as a first time user. Plus I tend to fall off with planners cause I’m still trying to find one that fits. If the hobonichi didn’t work I was afraid I would have wasted money. This is a great alternative!

Other things I forgot to include: - The Kinbor has a "Plan of a new year" right before it goes into the weeklies. It includes 12 boxes and some empty grid space for your year at a glance. - The Kinbor also has a small paper pocket at the very back! Sorry I forgot to mention these haha 😆

Yes, I used a Kinbor Weeks in 2023. I liked it; paper was slightly thicker than Hobo Weeks. The one thing I didn't like was that the dated week side did not have lines/grid lines. I switched to Sterling Ink's N2/Weeks this year because it has grid lines on the dated weekly side, which I liked because I need the lines to write straight.

I love Kinbor! I’ve been using it for 3 years now and coincidentally received my 2025 today lol (I got the cats bakery for next year and I love it) I love the paper above the Hobonichi which I haven’t used since 2021. The paper takes fountain pen ink, ball point, and gel pen without any smearing. I’ve even used watercolor in it and it doesn’t tear with light washes! Plus it doesn’t have the quotes at the bottom. I currently use an A5 size for my work planner but I’ve used the a6 size in the past and I love it too. Tbqh I can’t imagine not having it be part of my line up. I’ve gotten some Hobonichi this year for the first time in 3 years because I want to try the new paper. But Kinbor will be my main one. Thanks for sharing it! Hopefully others can enjoy it too.

@@lillabjornstationery yes the smudging is what put me off from the Hobonichi 😅 even my 5 year because even after a whole year of setting ink would still smear in my 5 year. I heard lots of people say they don’t like the new paper too but I’m a ‘I’ll try it myself’ kinda gal 😂 But I like using the Moterm Veg Tan covers with my weeks size and some old Hobonichi covers with my A6 and A5 sized Kinbors.

I received my Sterling Ink planner yesterday. I ordered the B5. I am happy to say it lays flat when you open it. It is large and probably a little difficult to tote around but I love the extra blank pages to use for notes or temporary notes to move to a commonplace planner. I wish she had done awesome covers like Hobonichi. I ordered a leather one on Etsy. It wasn’t dreadfully expensive. I just looked at it as an investment.

I have been so tempted to purchase from SI, but this year I think I'm leaning towards PaperTess because the weeks are nested instead of being all at the front. Also, planner covers are definitely considered an investment 😉 Is the SI B5 your only planner this year?

Small shops can’t do what large brands do because of minimums and needing to appeal to the masses. Makes it hard to complete with the cover designs. But you can easily transform your cover.

I've been using a Kinbor weeks for health tracking this year and have gotten so comfy in this size that I cut down an A5 knockoff TN cover into a t and are TN size, bought tn inserts and am now doing all planning and journaling in this size 😊

The quotes at the bottom of Hobonichi Weeks have also annoyed me. But now I am realizing that maybe they see it as wasted space bc writing on the bottom of a page is always uncomfortable. So they leave it blank (like on the monthly/yearly overviews) or fill it with quotes. Maybe I'm wrong but it could be why. I do wish they would just leave it blank though.

I've been using the Kinbor Weeks for 2 years now, and the reason why I prefer it more than the hobo weeks, is because it has whiter paper than the hobo weeks (i'm not really a cream girlie) and it is cheaper. The TMR is definitely better than bachuan but it is still nice and def a great hobonichi alternative cost and quality wise. I still use Hobonichi for my daily journaling but with the plain notebook. If the hobo weeks didn't have the cream paper, i'll probably prefer the TMR than the bachuan. But if Kinbor release like a plain graph notebook with the bachuan paper i'd probably give it a try, for cost possibilities, coz the plain notebooks they offer at the noment don't use the bachuan paper. I love both of them and will continue to have the kinbor-hobonichi in my planner/journal stack. Btw, i actually love the TMR Sanzen, i find that ink dries quicker now and for me as a leftie, this is a plus. I don't really have a problem with it. And had the eng cousin and actually enjoy reading the quotes, they kinda make me reflect on things... (some don't make sense though) haahaha Adding in again, the back of the pamphlet is actually a 2025 calendar.

Omg hello fellow lefty! 👋😄 I do agree with you, the ink does dry faster. My main issue with the TMR S, is the squeakiness of it! I can't quite place it, but it makes writing with fountain pens super scratchy for me (and that's primarily what I use) 🥲 I'm usually team cream, but have really been enjoying the look of the Kinbor. Also, you really can't go wrong with that price 🤩 I did like reading some of the quotes in my Hobonichi, but I would have much preferred if they did one per month instead or something? I just find it takes up so much room. Which Hobonichi/Kinbor are you using for 2025? 💕

@@lillabjornstationery I've been using my platinum preppy on the TMR S and its been fine, though I don't really know much about fountain pens so can't really comment further. I'll continue using my Hobonichi A5 Plain Graph notebook as my daily journal, the Keiko Shibata cover, for 2025. I just love the freedom and space it gives to me. And i did get the Denali A5 for my language learning. Then, i got the Kinbor Weeks in Cheese Cookies (that's the name on the shop i ordered it), waiting for it come, so excited. 💛💛💛

I really appreciate the paper (ghosting/bleed through, quality, & feel) comparison. These are things I definitely worry about when considering a new brand I can’t actually get my hands on. You made a lot of great (and fair) points for and against each brand. I think the biggest pro on the Kinbor is definitely price point. I can test it out, see if it fits my planner style without breaking the bank. Great share.

I got Kinbor weeks green with leaves and A6 with Zodiac red. It's my third year buying these. I love it! I had A6 Hobo this year to journal and the quotes drove me crazy! And living in Europe Sterling Ink is way too expensive for me. So Kinbor is perfect! I wish they had more A6 options of layout. Kinbor has small quotes on top I think. There is some Chinese writing but they made it unobtrusive unlike Hobonichi. I agree about the covers. Especially this year it's stiff and large, really unpleasant in touch. I will get Hobonichi one for my Kinbor.

@@lillabjornstationery Yes, the Hobo cover works perfectly for Weeks. I also used HON cover for A6 as it's more bulky so the bigger HON works perfectly. Kinbor A6 is perfect! no quotes, no interruptions just an empty page. It's perfect! I used some fountain pens in it too and most work really well. Highly recommend.

@@lillabjornstationery I like to get the red PU bound Chinese New Year one because it is fun to collect those. I get the A5 for work. I use the daily by marking my meetings on the left side where the hours are listed, draw a line where there is a faint line with a highlighter, then use the right side for notes. (I have a lot of meetings almost every day.) I get the red PU bound A6 for just writing personal notes, journaling, lists, etc. I use the Kinbor Weeks for my purse/backpack. This year I got the bird one. I use that one to write appointments, birthdays, to do lists, errands, etc. It is my personal tracker and appointment keeper.

I've been using Kinbor for the last 2 years and also ordered a few blank grided notebooks in the week size to format my own weekly format. I only shop for covers and accessories at Hobonichi. The Kinbor hard cover is slightly taller so for clear covers you need to buy from the same seller where you buy your kinbor. However the Hobonichi Tragen weeks cover does fit the Kinbor weekly planners. 😅 Also I buy the undated planners so I don't have multiple blank pages if I have nothing to write for the week, like during vacation times when I'm just bumming around home.

Another commenter mentioned that it does however fit into the Hobonichi Tragen cover! Additionally, there are other Kinbor covers available on AliExpress and Etsy 😇💓

I know it's crazy! The Kinbor I bought has a cardboard cover that's coated in a matte-paper. Some of the other designs I saw look to be felt though! And one looked like it was even a faux leather 🥰💘

Unfortunately, it does not. I have received a few other comments mentioning that the Kinbor soft-cover does fit in the Hobonichi cover though. Additionally, the Kinbor hard-cover fits in the Hobonichi tragen cover 😇

Oh no! I am so sorry to hear that was your experience. Considering this cover is a cardboard coated in matte paper, I don't think you will have that issue again! 😇

I love Kinbor I used their a6 and a5 in previous years and I’m using an undated weeks this year Things to note the Kinbor paper is different between dated and undated planners Like for my undated weeks the paper wasn’t the bachan paper it was a thicker one, and it doesn’t have much of notes paper I think 16 papers at most and the year at glance is like the hobonichi one with 12 months on 2 pages, but the undated ones got way more variety in their covers, mine has the cutest cats doing different yoga poses Generally I prefer the Kinbor due to the white paper and simpler layout, but I’m so tempted to get a hobonichi for next year because of the covers

@@lillabjornstationerythey are different, usually for their dated ones they have around 8 different options , like mix between designs and solid colors For the undated there’s lots of other designs with simple or solid colors or more busy patterns, They do collaborations and some of their own characters for their undated ones, and some of them comes in sets with washi tape, note pads and stamps, sometimes a fancy box too!

Thank you for the comparison! The price point is certainly important - stationery cuts impressive wholes into the budget :) But I have so much joy from the graphic design quality of Hobo Weeks throughout the year and this is, where copy (Kinbor) misses the target for me. BTW, you are a a leftie like me and hold a pen in a very similar way to me! Is Kinbor's paper more convenient to write on compared to Hobo Weeks? You mentioned the slightly better grip.

Oh, that is a very interesting point! What about the graphic design of the Hobonichi Weeks do you find to be better? Hello fellow leftie! 👋😊 I personally prefer the Kinbor paper. The "grip" I was referring to is that the paper is less slippery, so the ink adheres better. This makes it so that the sensation when writing with ballpoint pens is more enjoyable, in my opinion 😇

@@lillabjornstationery Yes, I like graphics of Hobinichi Weeks more than Kinbor, from what I can see! But it is also, because I don't mind the bottom part with text at the weekly pages :) About left-handedness - it is about the careful combo of pen and paper. For me, the smoother paper, the better. Because I keep my hand on the same line I am currently writing, and push the pen forward. I learned, even lefties have 3 different ways to write, so it is a huge science to figure out, what pens/papers (and inks) work for whom!

I love kinbor planners so much KDNSNSNS I started using them in 2022? I think with an A6 avec ish, but they don't make them anymore. This year I am using an undated kinbor vertical weekly for work and an A6 planner for dailies. I also bought a horizontal undated weekly (not from kinbor, just a random brand) to see if I would like it, but there is too little space for me 😅 Already bought two kinbor planners for next year (a vertical weekly and a 2025 a5) and I'm so excited to use them!! Honestly I thought that not having the weeklies inside the planner was going to be difficult, but I feel like it helps me to separate work and private better

I've ordered a Kinbor Weeks for 2025. Cost wise - over $60nzd for a Hobonichi Weeks vs $18nzd for the Kinbor (both include shipping) is a no brainer for me! Plus with all thr website issues Hobonichi had on release, I just couldn't do it
