Hi James ,Larry at Motatec Jaguar here,after 45 years in business I've found that if you just gently warm any plastic or fibreglass bits up before you just remove them then they tend to come off and not break as they get brittle .Just a bit of friendly advise hope you don't mind.Merry Xmas buddy.

Hi big fan of your content, also a big Kia fan I run a Kia ceed SW as a taxi currently on 225,000 miles , never mist a days work supper reliable , however strangle enough I have changed rear calipers , still original alternator and battery keep up the great work

In that sort of situation with the alternator I'd usually undo the engine mount and lift or drop the engine with a trolley jack from underneath to give you that bit extra wiggle room

On the dent , you can buy a kit which uses glue to pull out the dent , i did it on my old car and it worked so was worth a tenner

Love my Kia Picanto 2. Nearly 12 years old and I've owned it for 7. No major problems. Because Kia are part owned by Hyundai there are cross over parts. Indeed the old Picanto uses the same engine as the Getz

When I started driving back in the late 1970s, very few cars were built to last and they all had serious rust issues after a only few years unless the owner paid for specialist protective treatments like Ziebart. So, it still fascinates me to see ten year old cars looking almost like brand new once you have worked your magic on them.

@@ChopsGarage gosh, that's great mate, don't bother doing anything yourself, just buy and sell, plus paint, find a cheap painter and you'll have an easy life. I've done 3 this week, so considering the time of year I'm happy with that, zafira, yaris and fiesta plus I've been doing a property so I've not had too much time for cars, only bought a 40k mgtf this week as prices were very high, mgs are a good niche, the trade don't rate them, but mg people love em and will pay a good price, this one was 750 bid, so 900,bit of paint and I'll 2995 it, bizzarly some of my best profits have been mgs, used to have Bs like you but they've got a bit expensive, used to go to France in a bgt, 90mph in o/d and 35 mpg.

Hi James, I used to work at a VW main dealer back in 2010, and their used car policy was to replace tyres if there was less than 4mm depth of tread. However they usually fitted whatever brand was cheapest so mostly chinese made. Some of these brands may be OK, but some of them are very poor. Are there any makes of chinese tyres that you have had particularly good or bad experiences of?

Those nice little earners all add up. Please do the right service on cars though or just stick to oil and filter. There’s virtually no manufacturer’s schedule that says to replace oil and air filter. Most cars are oil / filter and pollen filter, then the next time oil / filter, pollen filter, air filter, spark plugs (or fuel filter if diesel) and brake fluid change every two years. It’s a nightmare when someone has done half the job come next service

How's it a nightmare if a pollen filter was not changed? Ignoring the fact allot of I sell don't even have them. In fact I'm finding it hard to understand how any of it could be considered a nightmare, well other than me NOT doing an oil change and having them run around on low or ancient oil!

Last Kia picanto I had in stock sold within 9 hours after I listed it on autotrader, never had one for more than 6 days, most sold within 2 days, there are literally flying, not so lucky with the i10s, last one was a low mileage 11 plate, had it for 54 days in stock

I think the i10s look better. But, both are equally underrated. It's a shame that pretty much all manufactures are heading down the family-friendly crossover/SUV route, these days. In 10-years-time it will all just be a same-mould car, cut and paste design and built for every Tom, Dick & Harry. No super-minis, no true off-roaders, no roadsters or cabriolets... Never thought I'd say it, but SAVE THE i10s!

the i10 and the Picanto are both great little cars - can cope with miles just keep them well maintained. I see fewer Picanto's for sale than i10's not sure whether that reflects differing new sales volumes - suspect Picanto's are the type of cars that are kept in the family - grandad buys one and passes on to his daughter who in turn passes it on to her son - the devil they all know will be the best bet
