Love this traditional ethnic Slavic folk music and the fact that it's in Ukrainian. Wish there were more counties with songs in their native languages. But hey, we got already 5 songs for ESC 2021 and 3 of them are in native languages (Ukraine, France, Albania), so I am really excited! 😁 Greetings from the Czech Republic! ❤️

THE TEXT OF THE SONG has deep folk roots, 1000 years long. This is an electrofolk reworked spring song(VESNYANKA). VESNYANKA - a ritual song for invoking spring after a long winter, and at the same time an allegory of getting rid of the coronavirus. People welcomed spring and rejoiced in the warmth. The more and faster you dance - the sooner Spring will come. The very active dancer is the first of the crowd, who began to come to life and pass the spring mood to the rest. SIYU VIYU KONOPELECHKI - sow and blow CANNABIS. CLOTHES of the ancient Slavs were created from CANNABIS

The proper word is - hemp. Cannabis is one of the products made of hemp, but not the only.

Not cannabis, but HEMP (конопля) cultivated for industrial purpose. See English language dictionaries (Webster's dictionary). Саnnabis has another definition and context. А канабис, он и в Африке канабис (специальный сорт конопли) в современном контексте :) See real explaining оn video "Go_A - Шум (Shum) What is the song about? EXPLAINED!

As for me, this song is about "The spring will come and there will be no Covid!" It's because this song is like "vesnyanka" - traditional folk song to call the Spring. And Round dance is a part of calling ritual too ))) I like this song a lot. It's cool!

It is an invocation of Spring by dancing and singing to the spirit of the forest Shum (which also means "noise" - the noise of wind through the trees). The dress is the the anti-Covid protective gear used in hospitals.
Explanations. Shum = Noise is an ancient Slavic god of the forest. Text songs - an ancient Slavic-Ukrainian Vesnyanka - a ritual song that awakened spring. In Vesnyanka, it is said that the girls were walking in the forest and "tore their fur coat" - they trampled the grass of the god of the forest. And now they are sowing-blowing so that new grass will grow, so that Noise does not get angry and wakes up from sleep after winter. At the same time, the girls held hands and whirled around Vesnyanka in a round dance raising and lowering their arms, like swaying tree branches. And when they dropped their hands, they began to dance actively. This is a summary of the meaning. Moreover, there is a double meaning in the video. As the earth awakens after winter, so the world must awaken after the pandemic and Vesnianka calls for spring and the end of the pandemic.

In Polish we call it biały śpiew or biały wokal. I would translate it like white vocal but i'm not sure if it's right. White vocal is a technic of archaic way of singing which is characteristic for Slavic countries. It is traditional folk vocal technic. We sent an entry for Eurovision once where Tulia used it for their song. It is one of the example of white vocal. And no we cannot compare it with harmonies. I'm very glad that Ukraine has started using their own traditions and folklor instead Russian culture. End yes, that entry is better then last year.

It’s actually more to do with the explosion of a nuclear reactor in the Chernobyl power plant in April of 1987 which has impacted the lives of the locals even to the present day.. in the revamped video of this song you can see an areal shot of the power plant itself covered under what’s called “the sarcophagus”, a huge hangar built years later to stop the still ongoing radiation spill..
