Anders at his best ... shows us some under-the-radar, tasty cocktails we should be drinking. Everyone needs a few Martini riffs so they can assemble a short list of go-to tipples when the clock is ticking on an open bottle of 375ml vermouth.

Just wanted to say I am amazed by how much better your videos are than *any* other cocktail channel on KZbin, including those with several multiples higher subscribers. Not to knock any of them--plenty of them are very good and are worth watching--but your channel's combination of laid-back attitude, restrained (i.e. not over the top) goofiness, deep experience and skill, excellent audio and video quality, and a sense of openness and kindness really puts you head and shoulders above everyone else doing this. I wish you both all the success in the world with this endeavor. And thank you so much for all the amazing advice you've given me on making better cocktails!

Highly recommend getting a wine vacuum sealer for your vermouth. Oxidization is your enemy and being able to open a bottle, use it, and then seal it back up without any air will keep your vermouth lasting longer and tasting better, and will help you keep making higher quality drinks.
@leoschultz90462 жыл бұрын
Something I learned from a book called Just Cocktails, is that dashes of liqueurs were different from dashes of bitters, and was done with something closer to a speed pour than a dasher. A modern dash is often cited at about an 1/8th of a teaspoon, where as the ones for Luxardo of Benedictine in those old recipes were closer to 1/3rd of a teaspoon. Those kinds of measurements made a lot more sense to me when I looked at a lot of pre-prohibition cocktails.

Anders... Outstanding as usual. Not having the components at home, I took your recipe for The Ford, The Rolls Royce, and my wife's favorite, The Classic White Lady, to a restaurant bar here in Houston, and they did us the honor of happily making all three. It was our first taste of the The Ford and The Rolls Royce. Both are amazing, and although I plan to make both often, I will be having The Ford the most - it is simply superb. Thanks for these recipes.

I was surprised by your Ford recipe, since I got mine from the Dead Rabbit and its a little different. Since this recipe is one of my favorite cocktails of all time, I highly recommend you to try it (and ofc make a comparison video ;)). Here are the specs: 1,5oz. Dry Gin (Tanqueray) 1,5oz. Dolin Blanc 0,5oz. Maraschino 3 Dashes Orange Bitters 5 Dashes Absinth Mixing: Stirred Glas: Coupe Garnish: Orange peel This is what a real cocktail is about: booze and bitters. Learn it, love it, live it.

love the content, i was wondering if you could showcase some drinks using a rose flavour I think that would be very interesting
@ra102506 Жыл бұрын
Hey Anders! We made both the cocktails, first round was exactly your recipes using Bombay Sapphire. Second round, I went with #3 gin, reduced the Dolin to 1/2 oz and left everything else the same. Tina liked the Rolls Royce better w the 1:1 Bombay gin:vermouth ratio, but the Ford with the 1:1/3rd #3 gin:vermouth. I liked the opposite, enjoying the #3 Rolls Royce. So the learning here is - better gin, better drink, and less vermouth let’s the gin shine! Keep em coming!

I'm not a fan of the traditional Dry Martini. However, these 2 drinks are looking much more promising. I never had Benedictine, so couldn't try them. What I could try and liked very much is a subfamily of Martinis made with dry gin, dry vermouth, maraschino liqueur and absinthe (dash/rinse): Moonshine Martini, Turf Club, Tuxedo 1 and 2. They all have the above ingredients, only in different proportions (I've listed them from sweeter to dryer). It would be fantastic if you could do a head to head comparison between them. Cheers and keep up the good work!

This is easily my favorite KZbin channel. Great work, Anders! I'd love a martini video. Also, it would be interesting for you to talk about what it means to "bruise" gin. Is that a myth or a legit thing? I've heard you shouldn't shake cocktails that only use spirits but you have the famous line "shaken not stirred" from James Bond. It seems that if you make a dirty martini then shaking might help incorporate the olive juice. Otherwise, just stir. I really don't know. Another question is what type of gin works best in a martini? Do you prefer a dry or botanical gin? I love martinis and I'd love to hear your take on them.
