Diabetes really sucks and ruins a lot of things. In case you aren’t aware, alcohol converts to sugar in the body. You may want to have him check with his doctor, so he knows what he can and can’t do with diabetes.
@Petrosman3 ай бұрын
@leeanderson7339 he is allowed small amounts of sugar, since insulin breaks down a lot of the sugar. He just needs to control his sugar intake, and alcohol is not as big of a problem like say hard carbs and sugars. And plus in a cocktail it's a relatively small amount of alcohol.

My mum has diabetes too, so I’ve learnt to use erythritol (aka monkfruit) as a sugar substitute for my cocktails. Comes without the terrible detriments of aspartame and without the diarrhoea that comes with xylitol. The erythritol works in everything from daiquiris to tommy’s margarita’s to long islands. They have both white sugar and brown sugar variations. 0 calories from the sugar, whatever you consume will just be passed out. Never turned back!

On a hot summer day, a nice simple cocktail in this style can be very refreshing. It's not going to be overly sweet and it's easy to tweak to your own personal taste or mood. This would be a great one for me when doing something like spending a weekend sailing, or camping somewhere. It doesn't require a lot of tools, and it's quick and easy to make. Great video. Funny story about the lime "hat"- George Cassidy, the biggest bootlegger who sold to Congress and Senators during Prohibition wore an emerald green hat so the capitol police on his payroll would recognize him and allow him access. that's where we get the brand Green Hat Gin. It was once a local favorite, but after the pandemic, Green Hat sold to MGP and is no longer made in DC. One of the many things that's changed about the Chocolate City where I was born and raised, but that's not a story for this video. Love from the three stars and two bars, and a forever Southeast girl.

Test your bartender by asking for a gin & soda with lime, and if he says "A gin rickey" he's a keeper. Topo Chico is a good choice. Some people say "tonic" which now, shamefully. has sugar in it. Schweppes's was the last tonic water to cave in to that trend, in the 1990's, and they all have sugar now. By the way, I asked for a "gin & soda with lime" at an Applebee's in Lubbock, Texas, and the young lady brought me a glass of a brown concoction. I asked, "What's this?" She said, "You didn't say what kind of soda, so I used Coke."
