So my first thoughts on this are it has potential, and although had a few 'driveshaft' issues it's actually not that bad! I'm not too keen on the 'Toy Grade' look of it, but over all I think it's ok.

I know I’m late to the party but I would love to see videos of people upgrading these. They’re cheap and fun but it’s hard to find parts. I’m really new to the RC world and having the same issue with the driveshaft but I feel so lost. I enjoyed your video thank you!

To anybody that's thinking about getting these models I have a suggestion. Especially this one already comes with a 280 motor which you will take out. Then replace it with a 2 in 1 Dynamite 280 brushless 6000kv built-in ESC. So this model right here would be perfect and the dynamite 2 in 1 brushless motor will save a lot of room. I suggest this motor you might have to cut the shaft I did. But that is my tip for the day just trying to help

definitely not better, but not a bad effort overall either. the springs are too stiff, lacks flex. 51 bucks RTR delivered IS a nice price, drive shafts are a definite problem too. great honest review with a run showing it and its flaws. I'll stick with my NewBright Jeep body on a WPL C-frame, with shout for Gabriel Silvaz channel, inspired a lot of WPL mods.

I think the 5 wire servo is for lousy toys, you want a jeep buy one of this and take the body off and a WPL to mount the body and then you got a jeep, The jeep JK width 1877mm divided in 14 = 133mm = 1/14 scale 1877mm divided in 13 =144 = 1/13 scale

Been very interested to see what this is like out of the box, it looked good on paper, 260 motor, axle mounted servo and opening doors and hood. The 260 motor seems to be more than enough power for these little rigs it's a shame the driveshafts couldn't hold on. I think some metal driveshafts and some cheap hobbygrade electronics would make this very capable indeed.

@@modelnutty6503 it looks a good platform to start from, a 3 wire servo combined with some hobbygrade electronics would make it a very nice little truck. Its awesome we're getting more options in the small scale budget game. Imo it look better in the pictures that in person, its normally the other way around with wpls 😂

The wpl had plastic drive shafts and diffs and crappy links and you can get all metal upgrades for the wpl now. Infact what you can't get is not worth mentioning so i dare say you will be able to get decent upgrades for this soon as well same is said for the NM model too . Grate vid thanks for posting cheers!

Even though the WPL C14 & C24 are sold as 1/16 scale they measure in at 1/14 scale. So, just because that jeep looks to be the same scale as the Toyota, doesn't mean the Jeep is 1/16 scale.

@@TomleyRC I checked: The hilux 2door pickup is 174 inch and the wrangler JK 2door is 164 inch so they seem to be extremely close to same scale. Around 1/13?

I have that same exact vehicle, in that color. It's made by Passion Hobby RC. It was $47.99. It is a toy grade, not a hobby grade, you can't upgrade the wheels and tires. It's decent for the price but overall it's a piece of crap. Thank God I haven't had any troubles with the drive shafts.

I like this a lot, the body looks fantastic and it's really nice they give you a 280 motor in it. Right there alone already outdid wpl and MN models with their 130 to 180 motor. But this model has a lot of potential something I need to get on LOL. I really think I can make the body look even better and it gives me a lot of options to work with. Simply great just another great video thank you. Oh yeah to me toy grade is something you can't get upgrade parts for. The MN and wpl you can get upgraded Parts not only from them companies but other companies that do upgrades for RCs. So people might put them down and whatever. But I would put my creation against there's any day and win LOL

@Foam Farmer yeah wpl is dominating the upgrade scene for these models. They have a great variety to approach your build in different ways. I just got into the scene and loving it like McDonald's lol

@@DArealCHAZZ a lot of NewBright bodies are very adaptable to WPL/MN chassis too. their Rubicon body on a C-frame here is about 1/8" short, so I let the front wheels be forward. it'd be about same for their Bronco body, and driving you really don't notice, not worth the effort to shorten the frame or wheelbase (then the links, then the drive shafts... etc).

This post may be old but I got my JY66 (black version) and I broke my front drive shaft. I don't see any 1/14 scale drive shaft. Are 1/10, 1/12, 1/16 drove shafts compatible with this version?

Good evening @TomleyRC, I really liked your way of showing us the wonders of this RC toy, but I had the same problem as you with the gear on the front part that every two times three comes out of its place by force of the 260 engine and that plastic is not prepared for it. Can you confirm that the metal parts will help us to solve the problem???, now they are worth €18, almost the same as the car... what madness.

My wife and I got this car. A bit dissappointed. Love the body. I plan to mod it. Do you have more info on the company be chance? Or the electronics. There are extra slots saying ro/led and lou. One is three pin and one is two pin. I can't find anything so far.

It´s nice to have more options, and the 260 size motor was generous of them. Don´t they test products before releasing them? I wonder how this dodgy drive shaft design slipped through their quality control department.

lol, if you got into the early WPL releases (MN too), yes this IS that "quality". drive shafts snapping, plastic bevel gears in the axles stripping, etc etc. they did step up, with the right upgrades they become really good for their size.

Tomley RC the dimmed yellowish ones on the white wpl you reviewed the other day didn’t look to bad. Overall I think LEDs have their place but only on the real high end super detailed stuff like some of those massive rc lorries people have with the sounds/hydraulics.....the whole shabang so to speak. For these cheapos just spend the money on proper drive shafts or something worthwhile to it

If you want to upgrade servo use a Corona micro mg servo, fits perfect 👍. I have one in white and 1/16 Bruder figures fit dead on with no modifications to fit it. I'm waiting for a scale lite bar. Check out mine in my channel 😉
