I’ve not owned an xv-01, but from what I can tell…. It’s got characteristics that seem to not be paralleled! I may have to experience one for myself to understand! Maybe it’s the forward slung motor or the gyro forces from the belt system! You may have sold me 😂

soooooooo smooth, it completes its turning steps much quicker than the xv-01, yes the body is special to me because its one of the cars from gran turismo 2 i use to run

I want one. Just broke my first suspension mount on my XV01. It’s like a coming of age. Great work on the make shift track. I get how you drive for fun without getting footage (can be a hassle, and less pressure), then you nail a corner and wish you were filming. Gotta go wrench, looking forward to the comparisons!

you bring up a great point, my videos show only the car driving and not all of the constant inputs from my fingers to the radio controller....youre giving me ideas...cheers and hope you can feel the difference in these one day, they are in a different and far away leage compared to typical TT chassis and even the mf-01x

I raced the xv01 against some tt02 and some other shaft driven car, on the carpet is very hard to compete with those but the sound, it is almost inpercievable and the smoothness is amazing, on brushed motor drive so good at low rpm...

Hi there Rex, a great XV-02 series of videos. It certainly looks like Tamiya have made some improvements from the XV-01. Looks great out on the gravel / loose surface, seems to be very forgiving. Take care and best wishes to you and the family 😁😉😊

thank you again John, yes the xv-01 has many general design improvements over the original xv-01, a very noticeable change is the easier access to everything for maintenance . it turns so well on the loose surface, most cars understeer but this one was much more positive when rotating around corners

Great to hear your thoughts on the newer XV02 vs 01. Very informative. I do agree belt drive cars are generally smoother than shaft driven.. but it does require more maintenance. I hope I get t try the 01 someday.

thanks, it really is nice. slides very stable and your right, straighten the wheel and add throttle and it pulls out nicely. i didnt know you could fix body holes how do you fix body holes, now my focus has two sets of body holes on the hood, i'd love to cover one up, sadly I cant use any of my other rally bodies because i dont want extra holes in the hood. you dont have a rally car? PHILTHY you have so many rc's though! you need one !! cheers

don't take my word for it, you'll have to try it on your own but the TT-01's and TT-02's are in a league very far away from these XV chassis', I hope you get to feel what I mean one day

Nice footage . It runs and looks perfect , except for those crappy Deans connectors , Bahahahah, JK man , to each is own. I've changed most of my stuff to XT 60 or 30s , a few 90s , away from the Traxxas connectors i used for years , never really liked them and the were to big for the smaller scale stuff also . This chassis layout looks like it would be excellent for a drift car set up too . I still have the HPI E-10 Monster Energy Mustang . Runs perfect but , I'm going to kill it if I run it hard . I've been looking at one of the Sakura rear wheel drive chassis for a better more permanent/dedicated drifter , but I like 4WDs too . To many great choices , LOL . Anyway , great job on the vid brother 👍🏼

Ive got an older sakura countersteer drift car but Id also like to own a rwd one day, Ive driven other peoples rwd drift cars and its ridiculously fun trying to control your angles and link corners smoothly but i cant justify the cost given next to no places to run them

You explain about set up of these cars, but I understand what you’re saying a lot of others are expecting us to know what they’re talking about, you don’t you dumb it down and explain it so everyone understands. Hi Kenneth, Thank so much for the kind compliment. The shocks I used on the xv-02 pro, came with the kit, alone these "TRF" racing shocks are worth approx $100 cdn. Currently I think the car could benefit from both a center differential as well as a front sway bar. thank you again for taking the time to stop and chat and let me know some feedback. it really helps when viewers ask questions, it helps me know what to answer in future videos. I run all mine. I have an old Mini Cooper on an M01 chassis, TL01 and a B, two TT02B’s both neo scorcher’s, DT01 fighter buggy/mad bull and a SandScorcher 😍😍😍 love that thing. I’d like to get a good rally car and think that XV02pro would suite my kind of driving but I do also like how the XV01 drives tail out 😳😂😎 I’d love either an Avanti or a TopForce to see if the hype is all it’s cracked up to be and I’d love a Kyosho optima turbo rere they are stunning looking buggy’s and very tough and well engineered. I can dream I suppose 😂😂😂 but I’m happy tinkering with the ones I have. Wishing you every success with your channel Rex. Keep up the great work you do for us and happy RC’ing to you 🙏😄😍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Try. Going with thicker diff oils front and rear and you will find it gives you more Drive and stable rotation.

the xv-02, for reliability reasons, if the xv-01 didn't have several small quirks, I'd pick the xv-01 for its driving characteristic, if you're racing and want to win, I believe the xv-02 has overall better potential. my answer is dependent on reasonable motors and subject to change at any time

no, you will not because its almost impossible to explain, let me try again- it feels like the xv-02 starts the turn sooner, and finishes sooner, the xv-01 feels like it takes a second for the front to shift all that weight to start reacting, once it reacts it takes long to settle because the pivot point is at the front giving a larger pendulum effect on xv-01, whereas the xv-02 feels like a shorter pendulum, am i making sense? lol

Great video Rex. It looks great and you can see how torn you are between the two. Maybe the question is how does it compare to the MF-01X and the TT-02? I think it was always going to be hard for it to be be better than the XV-01. Do you have any other rally chassis and if so how does it compare to those. Great content man 👍🏻🙌🏻

hi guys, honestly, the TT-01's, TT-02's (entry level models) are in a totally different league compared to these two XV chassis', I hope for you guys to be able to feel the difference one day, I feel like the factors of performance were not high on the design list for the TT-02 (not talking about the TYPE SR), nor was it for the mf-01x, I'll take the mf-01x out to the dirt lot soon, also with a tt-02 and both xv's and I'll get together a comparison video somehow. thank you guys, comments motivat me to do better

Hey Rex, couldn’t agree with you more. My first ever RC was a XV01. I’ve never purchased a TT02 because I knew, by chance , that they weren’t in the same class. I’m a rally fan. Your videos are so cool and appeal to people who are interested in the hobby in its purest form. My reason for saying “good question” is because the MF01x is seriously underrated and a bit of fun. No sign of XV02 here in Aus yet. Anyway thanks for making these videos.

so what caused the dust cover to eat up so much sand and dirt?

Theres a small opening in the front of the dust cover where the steering linkage connects to the bellcrank. However in my experience, unless everything is sealed with grease or a gasket, you’ll find small dust particles always, and when you seal an rc that well, we usually run into heat problems, I honestly didnt expect the dust cover to work at all but in a few conditions it did better than expected and even worked excellent in some scenarios. However anywhere we have a dry dusty condition, it seems we cannot escape the debris
