Jonah your video is not realistic and gives a false sense of working in private practice. you give new grads and not new grads this feeling like they should be some where around 40.00 a visit but in reality. the 60/40 split should be after expenses and in the private practice sector we do not make 100.00 a visit. the average is some where around 70.00-75.00 (and it has been on a downward trend these last 5 years). you clearly are young and are not familiar with today's reimbursement. I know you are trying to discuss the differences in salary and per patient, but at the same time you are delivering false information on pay rates and number of patients that need to be seen to make around 80K. I've been in private practice for the last 15 years and have worked in the profession for the last 25yrs.

In my experience working as a physio, I have never received an employment offer where the percentage split came AFTER expenses. A 40% fee split was always based off the exact fee the patient was paying, which, in my experience, averages around $90 for a follow up, and $120 for an assessment. I don't think Jonah is giving an unrealistic sense of working in private practice. However, I do think what your comment highlights is there is a lack of consistency across the profession in different geographical locations. I'm not sure where you have been working for 25 years, but this discrepancy could also be based on geographical location.

Hey there, could you share some more specifics about your numbers? I shared numbers that are specific for where I work and my experience (Canada, Ontario, private practice), but yours may be different depending on how PT is structured in your region.
