In this video I will teach you an updated way on how to Twixtor or make your video go in slow motion better and Retime or Time Remap that footage in DaVinci Resolve. I would use this method also for speed ramping in DaVinci Resolve.

You may already know, but just as a helpful tip, as I noticed you jumping the playhead back manually a lot, you can go to the menu under playback and tell it to reset the playhead. So when you hit space to start and stop, it will jump back to where you were, so playing the same bit over and over is a lot quicker

i think you can also go to retime and scalling not in fusion tab and set retime process to optical flow, motion estimation to enchanced better, and resize filter to smoother and it works somewhat like a twixtor, but mainly when you slow the clip down

that is very true, but you will not have the extensive time remapping capabilities as if you put it into fusion, being able to control the speed with the spline controls in fusion is more beneficial for focusing on specific movements in my experience

@@PeeJ_ENT it basically like dynamic camera movement. Like in an edit where have really upbeat music you’re always trying have the camera moving to create a really energetic atmosphere. In addition, also trying have the beat and camera movement sync up with whatever your character is doing.

Yes you can and with this method it won’t slow down the audio but it is possible, there is a video on PeeJ_Alt about time remapping and that method slows the audio

around 3:13 after you put the fusion clip above the other layers, you did something with the second layer, which gave it a red icon. What exactly did you do there?

I disabled the clip so it is not visible, click the clip and hit "D" and it should disable the individual clip

Yes so at the bottom left it will tell you the clip you are in and what timeline, so just double click the time line word and it will take you back

technically yes you can delete it, I just keep it there if say I mess up the cutting process and need to adjust something or I just don't want to use the Twixed clip

It helps organize your media clips, your cc bin is when you originally comp your clips, the Twix bin is for after you cut the clip gaps a comp those clips together

The reason I duplicated it and was so you have a copy of the original footage you can Twix again or just use the original footage that was there if you do not like the result of the slomotion, I lock the layer so it does not move when you use the ripple delete feature because it applies to all of the layers in the page and I disable the layer so I don't see it and get confused during the time I am cutting, you could technically do it your proposed way but I like to keep copies of things in case I mess up or want to go back

Sometimes when I finish retiming a clip, when I go back to my main timeline, the last few frames of the comp clip are black

that means your either fusion clip is not long enough or you are not using the absolute first part of the compound clip, but somewhere in between (aka, extend the left side of the clip and adjust everything over to the right if possible)

I still prioritize the focus of the scene, idk the exact scene you are working with but there are times where "Twixing" the clip wouldn't work like with many fight scenes

Yes, so I kind of did it a little bit on the second half of the tutorial but, essentially instead of your starting frame at 0 it would be the frame number that is at the end of your footage and then it would be keyframed at 0 at the end

make sure you are work with blend on the time stretcher until you are using the optical flow node, make sure you keyframe the frame amount at different keyframes
