Hi bud how do you attach the water drop to the wood
@d.g.l.photography89 Жыл бұрын
i used mini clamps, think they are called speed clamps, 1 to hold the dropped and another to clam the side of the dropped onto the wood, or i guess g clamps can do the same thing

Given that the action is frozen by the flash duration and that typical flash sync speeds are around 1/200 second, I'm curious as to why you use such long exposure times. I'm sure there is a reason but I'm just not cluing in to it.
@AndrewOvenden Жыл бұрын
The flash “sync” speed may be 1/200th of a second, but the flash duration is much, much shorter (as short as approximately 1/2000th second). You’re shooting in the dark so the long exposure time (shutter speed) is made mostly irrelevant by the short duration of the flash. The flash is doing all the work as there’s no ambient light. Did that help?

@@AndrewOvenden I do understand that the the effective exposure is the duration of the flash which is why I'm not understanding why one would use a shutter speed that is longer than the flash sync speed. I just rewatched the video a couple of times and don't see any reference to any shutter speeds so, unless the video has been edited between when I posted this question 3 months ago and now, I'm not sure why I even asked the question. But thanks for your reply!

having a long exposure in the dark, and not going with flash sync, simply because the hit rate of using flash sync was hit and miss, the triggers are not 100% accurate for firing purposes, but with a long exposure, that single moment of the flash sync is now irrelevant as long as the drops occure when the shutter is open
