"Where children shiver in the cold The sun will shine, just a touch To heal the blind" is one of my favorite parts of any of their song. Everything about it feels so powerful in my opinion.

The ending of this song is an absolute masterclass in musicianship. And btw that “weird beat” (you said) is called a ‘blast beat’, it’s prevalent in Metal music, and it’s tough because it’s a blend of speed, power, delicacy and accuracy. Slipknot’s drummer (Jay Weinberg) is really good at these beats, he involves his double bass a lot

The last verse of the song might be my favorite verse on the entire album

The Fermi Paradox is the idea that it's highly likely aliens exist even though we've had no absolute proof that aliens exist. This song is very eclectic. That drum part you mentioned and the guitar part over it use black metal techniques. Tremolo picked guitar and that specific cymbal pattern. Matt was originally going to scream over it and decided singing would be less conventional. I love it. There's definitely Pink Floyd and Soundgarden in this, as well as Muse and David Bowie. It's very spacey and very muscular sounding. Those solos are definitely the dark blues they mentioned in that first breakdown video you saw. Really aggressive. I'm glad you like this one. It's one of my favorites on The Stage. Awesome video. ❤

@Olivves In the background ambience, for sure. The layering is something that David had on the albums Space Oddity, Station to Station, and Heroes. The guitar style has some of the touches of Mick Ronson and of Carlos Alomar. Think of the guitar work in The Supermen and Time and a lot of the work on the songs Station to Station and Joe the Lion. It's very dry and thin and dark. Pink Floyd and Soundgarden didn't have such sparse production. A7X have said Space Oddity in particular was an inspiration for The Stage as an album, but this song seems to have more darkness spread through it. It's more hostile than the rest instrumentally.

@Olivves absolutely! The low part is definitely where there's some extra sound. It sounds like there's really low synthesizer going on in that part, then obviously that "freezing" effect from God of War during the Medusa part. It feels like hearing the mellotron in the back of Space Oddity with the countdown and the rocket thrust in a way, although more aggressive with the guitar work being electric and down to Drop D. This song is massively nasty from both a playing and production level.

@Olivves Guitarist, pianist, drummer, and I play some woodwind and brass instruments and harmonica more casually. Mostly a huge fan of A7X and Bowie. I've read and heard everything I can.

@Olivves Yeah, it's looking like a Summer 2021 release if nothing else happens. M. Shadows made a great playlist with some of his personal influences. It's not bad. Blackstar might have been an influence on The Stage in some way. They would have been writing it around that time. www.billboard.com/articles/columns/rock/7998922/avenged-sevenfold-m-shadows-playlist-takeover-tuesday-space-songs

This song, Angels, and Sunny Disposition (all same album) have such a different unique vibe and feel to them, even by Avenged Sevenfold standards, these songs are some of the most musically interesting songs they've ever created... those two songs should definitely be next

Back down tp earth with a bump! One of those songs that shouldn't end. I really felt a Deep Purple coming through here, but there' no denying A7X. Right from the off, I had the feeling that this was a NWOBHM in 2020. Even though the band are by no means young any more, this song may well turn out to be there anthem. It's the lead guitar that carried the drifting sensation, but beautifully supported by the rest of the band. Oh, and I love it.

I've missed a lot of reactions 🤔 (you've done a lot 😂). This song for me is very special, it's like it transports me to another dimension. It is in my top 3 on The Stage because I think the best songs on the album are undoubtedly The Stage and Exist. It's weird to explain, but I would say that this is the song where there is the most difference between the instrumental and the vocal part. I mean, the lyrics can be a bit repetitive and not so special but the guitar and drums work is one of the best I've heard, they take the song to another level. And the guitar solo ... Over time it has become one of my favorite solos ever. Good reaction!

great reaction, this album is a masterpiece, takes a few listens, but personally I find it so dynamic, different and just interesting. And Avenged Sevenfold do have pink floyd influence and you can hear it in Syn's melodic solos like the second one in this song. love this band

a bit late but no i agree, there are a some hints of black metal on this album within Fermi Paradox, Sunny Disposition, and even Simulation... i was watching a review of this album from coverkillernation (really good music review channel btw) and he even recognized and mentioned the black metal influence in here

i dont like the blast beat at this slow tempo.. i dont like any kind of blast beat.. that's my limit on heavy. im stuck on classic stuff and skank beat which is basic in thrash. said this, this is one of the best guitar works i ever hear. i hope some day i get the enough music theory to reply this kind of sounds.. sinyster jzz influence in this album is great, how he can sound beautiful and dark. that's my goal in music

im sorry i dont mean this in a bad way but a lot of avenged sevenfold songs are too advanced for you to understand and it shows so clearly it is getting annoying to watch anymore. Stop talking like you know what you are saying, so many times you have compared to metallica when although there is influence in them they don't sound anything like them and I highly doubt you know this music genre in general.
