If you look up the meaning of this song in Wikipedia, it will tell you that it talks about religious themes, but are only metaphors, as in many of their songs. My interpretation is that it speaks from the perspective of a scientist, probably Einstein because of his participation in the Manhattan project. It is basically a song where the scientist regrets that his advances serve to create weapons and deaths ("all weapons bear my name") and where they talk about the blurred line between creating something beneficial or used for evil ("tell me, Was it all a lie? Show me where the Angels die "). There is also talk that these advances make us move forward but it leaves us the reflection of the responsibility of the person who creates all these advances, whether we are aware of the fine line between evolution and extinction. It's my interpretation.

Right from the off this song cast it's words into the air and they hung there until my mind had registered them. The music was perfectly paced to allow every moment of emotion to flow free and settle in my heart. The really haunting echo of the guitar solo caressed my soul and left me howling out for more Just in case that's not clear enough , I really really loved it.

That was a beautiful poetic description. You don't come across as a regular A7X metal fan, but I might be wrong. The feeling when finding great music is amazing, wherever you find it. I feel blessed to be alive to listen to such beautiful masterpiece as "the Stage" album. 🙂🤟

@@TobbeBoll I've sold out to metal since 1980. I have a sneaky listen to other stuff to, but it must be well written and well played. Hate hip-hop, and most teeny-bop chart stuff. My vocab stems from reading a lot, I like intelligently written books from the likes of Tolkein and Raymond E Fiest.. Thank you for recognising the effort put into making my comments just a bit different. This channel has opened me up to A7X. Heard of them for years, but never listened to then before BED started doing reactions. The same goes with several acts that are reacted to here as well.

finally another masterpiece off The Stage... can’t wait to see more 😊 *side note:* Synyster Gates’ father, Papa Gates, improvised the ending solo entirely in one take, and that’s what we hear on the record

Wow, he was playing while recording, at the same time creating the melody and without a single wrong note?

This is my favorite song on The Stage. It's always reminded me of a dark western. There's definitely a theme of regret and a desire to repress memories. Seems like a song about J. Robert Oppenheimer, the inventor of the atomic bomb, if it has anything to do with the rest of the album. He had deep regrets for the lives lost due to his work on such weapons, and he eventually passed away from throat cancer due to being a heavy smoker, and had his body cremated. Famously, he quoted an adage "Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds", Death being represented by angelic figures in various cultures. The extra nasty solo that fades out at the end was played by Papa Gates.
