@BetterHealthWhileAging Thank you for all your helpful and informative information. I could not find the tapering info for benzodiazapines on the video from a few months ago. Would you direct me? Thank you!

Your video as well as many local sources are always addressing inquiries about looking for help for others. What about single people trying to line up resources they might need in the future? There has to be some common denominators all aging people should prepare for.

My videos focus on families because supporting families is a very big part of my own online work. However, Aging Life Care Professionals are actually a great option for single older adults trying to plan for their aging future. The main resources one needs are a suitable place to live (ideally "age-proof", meaning it's still possible to live adequately there even if the older person declines in independence), people who are legally empowered (e.g. power of attorney) to assist with health issues and with living/finances if the older person becomes unwell and is unable to manage those issues on their own, and access to various forms of caregiving support (which sometimes requires paying others). I think access to meaningful social connections and to enjoyable activities is also essential. POAs need to be given adequate guidance about the older person's priorities and values, so that they can navigate crises and also eventual end of life care. Aging life care professionals can help with all of these things...that said, I believe there are also books available for solo agers that presumably cover this material. I have another video covering what elder care often entails by watching my related video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f3OuoHSFbr-gppYsi=FxOs328ixHJYIKOC

Both of my parents have passed away, but I sure wish that my siblings and I had known more about GCM’s back years ago. Thanks for this great information.

That's a good question. I've just responded to a very similar question, please see that response.
