I’ve been overcoming depression in the last few months and one thing that strongly contributed to my emotional improvement was taking some time to clean and organize my house. It’s not the only thing that contributed but surely it played its role and, of course, every individual is unique and one may not be benefited by this depending on the context. But yeah, if you create a schedule to make it simple and stick to it, it will help you a lot to feel better and get the momentum going. First thing in the morning is check the fridge and see if I have enough food for the day, it keeps me away from ordering food, which is very expensive here in Brazil. If I do not have enough food, I cook an decent amount, enough for 1 or 2 days, of chicken breast, rice and some vegetables and throughout the day I weight it (having a scale helps you a lot to keep control of the amount of food you have left and if you already need to cook more) and before I run out of ready to eat food I cook more. This is only the food aspect, I also kept it simple and efficient when the matter is cleaning, organized and etc. Long story short: you gotta have one habit/action that triggers another good habits, mine is cooking my food for the day, and yours?

I'd say I was "depressed" not medically or anything or know if I was truly depressed but for me when I was "depressed" I thought porn will make me happier, at that time I was trying to quit pornography and beating my hog, but yea I beat my hog but realized to make myself happier I should delete apps that make me sad so I deleted Twitter, Tic Tok and used my phone less and watched better videos just like this one.

3:28 One of the ways I just managed to deal with phone addiction before bed was getting a cheap second-hand Kindle Paperwhite with backlight: - It uses the force of your harmful habit to replace something mindless with something useful - It doesn't emit blue light - No more excuses for not having time to read - Reading makes you wind down and get sleepy, instead of the overstimulation you get from social media - Thanks to the backlight, when sleeping with other people (at home or hiking) I can read a book without terrorizing everyone with keeping the room light on. - All the benefits of e-readers (can store tons of book, much easier to hold than a 500-page book in bed, useful for travelling, etc.) - Simply the act of reading before bed is enjoyable and cozy

I don't know whether you'll see this, but your channel is truly life-changing. I've been in a bad place for quite a while now, but have never realized what held me down all that time. I've just recently started being motivated again to improve my life and understand what was wrong with me. I can safely say it was thanks to your "How to be miserable for the rest of your life" video I've recently stumbled across. I've recognized myself in almost 90% of what was said, which was enough to break my long-lasted mind-block. It made me truly look down upon myself, my behavior and my actions, which was followed by realizations of what the things that were bothering me actually were. Might as well mention that I've almost immediately started working my way towards fixing said things. It gave me true, proper, motivation I've needed all this time and made me realize I could fix all that, now that I know what to focus on. I know it'll be a lot of work. I'm not denying that. But the summer break won't make me feel better and college won't make my problems go away. Unless I do something about it. The format of motivation that tells you how to turn your life for the worse, for me, gives you more motivation than any motivational video ever will. Kudos for that, very clever. Kinda uses that "fear of negative consequences" in a good way. Heck, I also started binge watching your videos to seek for other impurities. And, for anyone who bothered to read my story up until this point, thank you. I appeal to all of you to be courageous of yourself and realize you ARE good enough to achieve anything. It will take effort, but it's certainly not impossible. I believe in all of you. Finally, this might sound corny as shit, but you've earned a sub man. Hope it keeps going up for ya.

I love the take-away "Solutions don't have to be neat and perfect" if it's working it's working, and you build healthier habits from those messy beginnings until it's second nature. Indo-mie is indisputably (an arguably necessary) guilty pleasure though! Just can't afford to 'sliding' into eating crap every week, discipline begins with a small steady rhythm to start :D Awesome ep as always!

I recently moved cities for university and my flat is literally one room and a tiny bathroom. So everything get’s messy quiet fast and i get stressed out. And while I am terrible at being tidy, keeping my kitchen space clean has become my top priority. Because when this area is messy and dirty, I don’t feel like cooking and just eat junk instead. Another hack I think is useful: cook stuff in advance and just heat them up when you’re hungry. It’s fast like junk food but it’s cheaper and won’t leave you feeling shitty… If you have a bit of time on your free days, cook one or two meals and store them in the fridge for the next week :)

It's a blessing and a curse to live in a small space like yours. The curse is the obvious lack of storage, mobility etc. But a huge benefit is that it doesn't take much to radically transform the place into something that gives you energy instead of steals it. As I've moved into bigger and bigger houses, I've started accumulating more and more things, and it's getting to a point where I'm constantly trying to get rid of stuff/simplify. “The things you own end up owning you. It's only after you lose everything that you're free to do anything.” - Tyler Durden

as a person who was stuck indoors in covid i made a plan to grab my laptop and study in a library. Teaching myself to code at my place was getting daunting and i had to make quick decisions, if you have public libraries near your house don't let them go to waste and use this great option. Some people like myself are not equipped for making our home a study place but keeping it clean after a long day will always recharges me.

I think there's some other videos specific on this topic. But one good place to start is to make sure that everything you own has a place where it (can) belong. This either means getting more storage space or less stuff. The next rule than becomes that nothing is outside of its designated space for very long. You take it, you use it, you put it back. For this last one you have to assign yourself a time for this task. Personally I try to stick to the rule that before I go to bed everything in the kitchen needs to be in order again for the next day. And also, it took me years of collecting negative evidence to get there, so just keep on trying, one day you'll master it.

Your example with hockey rick and how it instantly puts your mind in that mindset of just wanting to play hockey resonated with me a lot. I have the exact same experience with the gym, where the moment I enter the gym all the anxiety and doubts about that particular training day dissipates. It's as if my brain just got into a different mode of operation and I'm just ready to go. Same thing for when I have to study, I force myself to go to my uni's library whenever I have to study because the moment I'm there I just start studying with little to no pushback from my brain.

I don't even have my own room and my family sleeps together so I'm jealous of those who have their own rooms. However, I'm already accustomed to living like that so I'm fine for now. Our family is also a bit unorganized and almost everytime I wake up, stuffs are on places they should'nt be and I organize it. It's hard to keep it tidy since we don't have individual places to inhabit so it's a mess. But we're getting through it day by day. I'm 18 and I'm on my senior highschool. I'm planning to work at a job and leave our house and be independent after graduating. Hopefully, I'm living a pretty good life in the future and to do that I must focus on what I can do for now. I'm captivated by the teachings of people like Jordan Peterson and this guy here, just learning it won't cut it tho, I need to apply it to my life. Well, Imma get back to what I'm doing then.

1:56 The cinematography reminds me so much of Salvatore Ganacci. Not sure exactly what it is, but I think it's to do with the holding shots on mundane objects and your neutral expression along with fluid movements.

XD I just love the little visual shots\gaga in this one. The opening of the door to the food with the big smile 😁. And If I was listening and not watching I would have so missed it.

This video was a cinematic masterpiece. Yes, the content was amazing, but what made this video so enjoyable was the cutscenes and the various jokes thru out the video. Keep at it!

Summary: The video talks about how our environment shapes our behavior and vice versa. It suggests simple tweaks that we can make in our living spaces to create downward slopes into living the lifestyle that we want. For example, the video suggests going room to room and asking ourselves what the goal of each room is and observing all the little features that inhibit that intended purpose. In the bedroom, the goal is probably for sleeping and alternative forms of exercise, so creating a clean, warm, and comforting environment can make sleeping a more enjoyable experience. The video also suggests using blue blockers to avoid the blue light that inhibits our ability to get into deep sleep. In the kitchen, the goal is probably to make eating and cooking healthy food as easy as possible, so we need to make sure that our kitchen is not inhibiting those processes. For example, we can avoid buying junk food and make sure that we have healthy food readily available.
