The first point of "winning is subjective" reminded me of a monk's story who was building a wall, as part of the monastery construction, and upon finishing it he noticed 2 crooked bricks. He got so annoyed with himself for making such mistake. He couldn't fix it anymore as the wall dried up and there's been lots of work done at this point. He left it and every time he looked at the wall he could only see those 2 crooked bricks...until another monk came and said "you built a beautiful wall". He responded "but look at those 2 crooked bricks" to which the other monk responded " what about those other 998 bricks that you placed perfectly well? ". Don't hold to your 2 crooked bricks.

Why does the idea of thoughts becoming reality keep coming up-Earl Nightingale's strangest secret, James Allen, the host of manifestation gurus spawned in the late 20th century following Goddard and the like, all based off of ancient wisdom saying: thoughts become reality? At first it seems fanciful but the more you think about it and observe the more evidence you see. The placebo and nocebo effects are very real and powerful. Huberman spoke of a Stanford study where one group shown a video on the negative effects of stress showed such negative effects, whereas a group shown a video on positive effects of stress exhibited such positive effects. This shit is real

Your uncle is right, using his videos I managed to go from being a decade + blue collar worker (cleaner to be precise) to an AI engineer with multiple degrees (top universities) in just under 7 years and now an engineer. I was an adult/mature student and was in the same class as 17 year olds who bragged about attending schools for the gifted. Guess what, all the praising their parents did for them set them back terribly. I graduated first and was the only one who was able to land multiple professional job offers. I always hype myself even for the smallest things. Showing up in class on time, "great job", turning off the lights after a long day, "you did great". Day to day, I do not compare myself because we all have different starting points and circumstances. There is only one of me. Most importantly, I learned how to set goals on different levels, track and measure my efforts and define the right metrics. You can't really compare how well one video did over another despite same effort because there are many parameters unknown to you that are beyond your functional control or tweaking. We do not live in a deterministic world. When it comes to winning you literally have to decide you are a winner, and let that be your identity despite what "results" you see. Effort by itself is one of the biggest most underrated things, most people never even start, remaining in the game by itself is a winning metric. Measure the right things, but most importantly define your bigger goals before you start tweaking your days because that will be your NorthStar. You also have to trick your brain into continuing to see yourself as a winner, sponsor the right thoughts and not disempowering thoughts like "I put the same effort in both videos and one did poorly", that is not empowering. You also can't overly rely on external feedback and validation from your viewers, at the end of the day, what you say and think of yourself despite external evidence is what matters to you. All the best and remember you're already a winner by virtue of being born on this beautiful planet and having life in you.

@@Eyezick-l5z You can do it! I joined uni in my late 30s but didn't mention my age to my 17 year old classmates and I still topped the class, I didn't even mention my age to myself either, coz our brains are always listening to us 🤣🤣🤣🤣. I also had joined uni when I was 20 years old and my then lecturer told me I should drop out and wouldn't make it in engineering. I listened to him but actually, what I didn't know was how to study effectively, how to be self-organized, focused and how to manage my focus and attention. More than a decade later when I started watching Andrew Huberman and Cal Newport who wrote the book on Deep Work, I also listened to writers like Steven Kotler who wrote Flow, and everyone knows the popular Atomic Habits by James Clear. I never actually read their books not even a single page, but I watched all their book tour promotional videos/lectures/podcasts and learned a common thread of being productive, achieving your goals etc. I of course modified my lifestyle e.g., didn't watch any TV for 2 years at least, left active social media, put my phone on silent not even vibration for years (to this day), I don't play video games either, I have healthy habits like walking everyday for an hour. When I was a student I did 30 mins of an intense morning workout before class, slept on time and ate a plant-based nutrition. I completely re-wired my brain to excel. So, if I did it in my late 30s, and built a whole new career, you can do it too!

A little resume for me to re-look the important points: 1- Acknowledge and count your wins(that makes you boost your motivation to get more wins) 2-Reward efforts, not outcomes(fall in love with the process, not only the outcomes, not its good to feel demotivated for a loss) 3- Easy wins first, then stack(If you win once in a little thing this are going to help you to win the next one) 4-Build self-trust in your word(never say things that you aint going to do) 5- Manage expectations(Not having unreal expectations, being realistic) 6- Visualization( Our mind dont notice the difference between reality and imagination). Thanks for the video

You've confirmed for me that failing to meet one's goals can erode trust in oneself. This was one of the rules I have used in sports specially running. As a runner, I always declare how far I'll run-be it 10km or 5km-and I commit to completing it, no matter how tough it gets. I've only fallen short twice due to muscle stiffness, despite pushing myself to my limits. While some days are harder, especially when muscles are sore from previous runs, I've managed to push through by understanding the importance of consistency. Missing a goal makes it easier to skip future ones, undermining my self-trust, which is crucial for running and maintaining willpower. I wish I could apply this mindset universally, but at least it's effective in sports. Distrusting yourself can destroy willpower, and for running, I need a strong will. Thanks for the valuable content; it's applicable in real life.

Wow. Didn’t know what to expect from this video and I’m happy I watched it till the end. I was running 3 different businesses and I had a winner mentality and I was so happy, proud of myself and people around, I felt like I belong to the world, I visualised a lot, thought positive, controlled my own thoughts and what people to keep around and at one point I just stopped doing all that, and what a surprise as you might guessed I don’t have those businesses anymore. I stopped doing this simple things for some reason. I stopped dreaming and most importantly I stopped trusting myself. Insted of dreaming big or just dreaming i become too humble, too small, too average, I do have this inner voice that would tell me things like “ you truly think you can do this? Let’s be real…” and I hate it. I kinda lost myself and I would like to change it

When it comes to self improvement youtubers sadly I can't help the feeling that they actually don't want us to succeed since they live from our views and cutting down information and making a separate 10+ min video instead of a full ultimate guide. I really think I have to stop being pessimistic about everything and drop the act of sad perfectionist and just do things and learn along the way. Rewarding effort is a good point because you can't always make the best outcome come true but you shouldn't punish yourself for trying mentally. Thank you for this video.

Leon, 2023 was the year that I realized that I have the potential to achieve my dreams. I decided that in 2024 I was going to pursue and achieve my ambitious goals, this video popped up in my feed when I was asking myself how I can plan my year to do just that. Whether it’s the law of attraction or my brain seeking confirmation for what I desire. I now know that I will achieve my goals. Thank you so very much for making this video, it’s made my day. 2024, taking names and kicking ass 😎

This is just what i needed to hear. Been feeling like a failure and just stuck in a downward, self beating rut. But ive been showing up for myself by taking walks 3 days in a row, and doing my best not to discredit myself when i dont cross off all the tasks from my to do list. I can totally relate to transfering the tasks to the next day and it wpuld be helpful to get some pointers on how to deal with that. But i have found that writing things down and getting them out of my head and crossing off what ever i did accomplish for the day is very helpful. It takes the chaos out of the head and gives a sense of accomplishment. Thanks again for this video! Will be checking out more of your content.

This video is seriously Gold, one of my favourite videos of yours actually. My biggest takeaway is “reward efforts, not outcomes” your delivery just make this concept click not to mention I died laughing with your misspelled quote (and name😂). I’ve been on a downward spiral lately but this video interrupted that so just want to say thank you Leon for making videos like this that has more impact than you’ll know. Looking forward to more! This is so true. I am a professional bodybuilder competitor. I have won my very first competition and got that early success and eas addicted to winning ever since. Altough I ended up competing 14 times - losing 10 times and only winning 4 shows in total. 3 out of first 5 were the wins. So early on I was winning more than losing. Then I just didn’t win… it was top 3, but not a win. The next 8 times I lost, and felt like forever and I felt so frustrated but I could look back and think “nah…you got this. You just need to change something and try again” I stuck by it all because in my mind I knew I have won before. Show nr 14 I earned my Pro Card and became a Professional. I now visualise myself winning the biggest championship in the world and what would the winning speech be. I feel that so much that I get goosebumps when I think about it. I don’t normally leave comments on videos but this is awesome. 🙌

I really like this way of thinking about gratitude. It’s the same idea wins and gratitude, appreciating what you’ve got, what you achieve ,what you want to achieve. I think it all comes from the same place. Just a different facet or vantage point.

In my experience the best way to get the 'winner effect' in your life is to transform your body...I was skinny all my life and then decided to hit the gym and transform my body. Within 8 months I made good progress and ever since then I've been so much more confident to do anything and take on any challenge...my current physique serves as a constant reminder that I can do anything I put my mind to do and it gives me that 'winner effect'

I always really look forward to your videos, Leon. Nice work as always. Edit: Have now watched this video a few times, it gets deeper each time. 1. The part about effort-based praise is powerful, my kids flourish more on that than with results-based praise for sure. I just never noticed the difference, well pointed out! 2. You mentioned at the end about how you forget to visualise, there are so many positive tools I use then forget about too. Thanks for reminding me to refocus on those. ❤

For the age bracket study, I started playing soccer at a fairly late age. When it came to playing for a travel team, being born in October meant I had to play in an age group above my own. I was born in 94 and had to try out for the 93 team. There was far harder competition in that age group at my age at the time. I was 12 playing with kids about to enter their freshman high school soccer seasons. I was always far bigger and stronger than most kids my age, so sports that I started at a younger age were no issue. My brother played up an age group and we dominated both basketball and baseball together.

Well I never made any team in high school in any selective sport because I too had to play with the kids in the grade above me, always older. And I had it had that happen to me before because school sports weren’t competitive before that.

He's been dominating the sport, specially after his 2 biggest rivals stopped playing. Now my take is he's so much more accostumed to winning compared to his opponents, and even they know that, so he just keeps on winning.

If you could only choose one of these disciplines, choose visualization. This is the foundation of all discovery, invention and unconscious insight. But you must REALLY dive in, no interruptions or noise, just a visualization that includes every sense including sight, sound, smell, feel ,touch, taste and every other sensation you conjur up to make it feel real. As far as your brain is concerned, it will think it is a reality which will steer your dream into reality. I know because I used this method in my 50’s to completely change my career, outlook and moving 3000 miles away for a better life. You can too!❤

This makes so much sense as to why I’m not competitive in general. When I was young I didn’t get the results I wanted or expected from the efforts I put into competitions, which felt fucking terrible, so I stopped caring or trying because getting nothing at the end felt worse than still getting nothing from doing nothing. I couldn’t feel worse if I didn’t care in the first place. I did learn really early in life how to manage disappointment. So much that now I can bounce back from what would be a heartbreaking disappointment for someone in far less time and I learn from the experience. This also came from developing a healthier mindset to go with it.

We create suffering by not being able to feel and express emotion (emotional repression). If someone else expresses emotion, that’s a trigger for the one who is unable to feel and express... It’s safer to point to the unconsciousness of someone else than it is to open to the emotion buried within us that we don’t want to feel and express. We create suffering by not being able to feel and express emotion. A hell of a lot of suffering goes away when we get to the root of this cycle and a hell of a lot of suffering continues when we focus on the reactions of others, instead of how we produce or contribute to suffering by not being able to feel and express our emotions authentically...

Yeah, financial advisors could make a lot of difference, particularly in a market such as this. Stocks are pretty unstable at the moment, but if you do the right math, you should be just fine. Bloomberg and other finance media have been recording cases of folks gaining over 250k just in a matter of weeks/couple months, so I think there are a lot of wealth transfer in this downtime if you know where to look. I have been using an FA since 2019, and I return at least $121k ROI, and this does not include capital gain.
