I live in the Midwest. Cold winters and extremely dry air. My laundry room backs up to the two car garage. I vented the electric dryer to the garage. It warms up the garage and helps introduce some humidity into the house. Works perfect. In the spring I vent it back outside.

Is there and way to have the Better Vent revert to the outside vent when lint buildup allows the top flap to open? Can it be modified?
@stevenmeadows69174 жыл бұрын
No, not really, it's not as bad as I thought it would be. I'm in South Florida with no issues.

It appears to be well built with a dual filter trap and constructed so that it seals well. I just wish they would come out with a similar one with a diverter valve inside so I can easily switch from venting indoor to venting outdoor. I guess I'll design my own and 3D print it.

@steadyeddie74532 жыл бұрын
@@TheSkyweasel92 Will do. Same with you. I have a design that includes a plate you slide in to the top of the enclosure when you want to block off the air from continuing on to the outside, like the crumb tray in the bottom of a toaster. I just cant find a pre-made plastic enclosure large enough yet, and the 3D printer I have access to isn't large enough.
@dakotaclark721 Жыл бұрын
Have you ever looked into a "4'' White Dryer Vent Heat Saver" to manually redirect the air? the system is meant to dump air directly into the house but if you direct the air from the switch to an indoor vent, it should work. This would definitely help for those who dont have a 3d printer.

How often do the filters need to be changed ? I know its how often you use the dryer. How many times would you say i can dry close before i need to change the filer ? I would be placing the Dryer Vent System in the basement so I don’t go to the basement that often to check ?

Will this help with moisture getting into the garage I have to vent my electric dryer into the garage cuz it's in the basement
@camdencruz8 жыл бұрын
I would be interested in using this as it would help to solve my current problem... BUT, wait for it..... I live in South Lousiana and the small laundry room (7'x5') is connected to a very small office (5'x5'), so this would make the humidity and temperature in the office unbearable year round, not to mention the extreme humidity and breeding ground for mold spores...
@stevenmeadows69174 жыл бұрын
My laundry room is about the same size. I use one of those Damp Rid bags in there just in case. It isn't as bad as I thought it might be, and would consider getting one if you need to.

Just bought one and have used it for about 3 loads of drying. Previously, I was using one of the tray/water based lint removal systems - this is so much better, it removes much more lint. Can I think of some product improvements (?) - yes, but they aren't deal killers.

Can anyone answer this question for me. On top of the dryer vent is a little trap door is it supposed to be blowing open when the dryer is on? It came with a piece of tape over it but I wasn’t sure if I’m supposed to remove that or not. Thank you if you have an answer to this question.
@mikethompson35343 жыл бұрын
It is not a piece of tape but a stick on tape weight taped to the upper flap door to keep it closed during normal operation but when the unit and filter becomes clogged with lint it will lift up notifying you that the filter box and filter requires cleaning or replacement of the filter becomes necessary How much weight you stick to that flapper door depends on much air coming out of your dryer to keep it closed during normal operations without the filter being clogged in other words run your dryer and tape enough weights to that flapper door until it remains shut and should the filter becomes clogged during normal use that flapper will open notifying you of filter cleaning or replacement!
