Isn’t she just brilliant? Even her speaking voice is beautiful. The first time I heard Betty Buckley was in the movie Tender Mercies (Over You,) and I was astounded by the beauty of her singing. She’s also be pretty, still at a pot seventy-years old. I wish she’d record another collection. Can you imagine Betty Buckley singing with Lady GeGa? That would be amazing. ❤️

We had Tender Mercies recorded on a betamax tape. it was a movie that I watched over and over growing up, never truly understanding what it was about. I still don't, honestly. But man, I was in love with Betty Buckley's voice right away. Her song was my favorite part. Her voice paralyzes you. It takes you away to somewhere you've never been, and when the song ends and you wake up, returning from a place that you can't even recall. Her voice is an emotional rapture.

@kn9355 RDuvall's character was a songwriter - and had been a musician / singer, And a drinker ; he quit showbiz and drinking to settle with a woman and her young son, to run a rural motel ; his ex-wife, Dixie (BettyBuckley's character ), is still 'in the game / still in the show ' ; their daughter is "coming of age" but dies ( I believe in a car crash, running with a rough character ). Mostly, the movie is about the 'Tender Mercies' one can find in Life - songs ; a chance to Sing again with a young band ; to offer a song to an ex- ; to find Love, again ; to teach a young boy to play 'Catch'... 'Tender Mercies' - in Life. ! And it can be about whatever it meant and means to you ! !!! tj

This is a really special recording of both songs. But I am particularly moved by "Memory" here. I think her playing Miss Collins the gym teacher in the 1976 horror film "Carrie" was my first introduction to her. Then, when she joined the cast of "Eight Is Enough" in season 2, that is when I fell in love with her. Whether acting of crooning, Betty Buckley is amazing.
