I was priviliged to see Ms. LaVette in Louisville, KY in 2006. She brought the venue to its feet. This woman cam eout and wooed that crowd of white folk like a soul siren. She is a package of energy, voice and artist. Get her music and you will drop your jaw at her sound. One BAD lady!!!!

I wonder if anyone can help me, years ago a friend played me a single owned by her Mother, at a rough guess the single was dated late 60's early 70's, a cover of Reach Out by the Four Tops, sung by a Female soul artist, it had a similar feel to this but was very slow, a haunting, raw voice; i actually don't remember who this was by and have been searching for it ever since. I have looked but to no avail.

I've bought a couple of downloads of this song, in both cases the tempo is slower-somebody please let me know the title of the album or direct me to where I can buy THIS rendering of the song, being recorded in this video, now that it's the version I'm hooked on. It's a perfect thing. That little thing she does with her shoulders halfway through plays in my head dozens of times a day, too. Viva Bettye! Thanks very much.
