HUMAN IS HELL (ANOTHER ONE WITH LOVE) // LYRICS
*Day 14,511
I hope I’m still here when you read this
I’m not the writer, but I’ve become the movement
That tore out my needs
I beg for the performance, and I never thought I would
The dark water
The horrid swells
The heart pounding stroll that opens a box
That always hid deep beneath my scattered eyes
I beg for the performance, and I never thought I would
The dark water
The horrid swells
Human is hell
I’ve tried to overcome this
Their hands keep dragging me down this hill
Human is hell
It seems to be miles long
Years long
But we will “break on through” as he once said
Looking over the horizon
I realize that this is irrelevant
This is a small blip in the spectrum of our lives
Life
Human is hell, love is heaven
Life
God is sound and the sound still flows
Praise the uncertainty and collective brain
Life
Human is hell
Human is hell and we are accepting
Human is hell
Group initiation to help ourselves
Mentally
Telepathically
“Sometimes I wish I was dead”, is what was said
I realized the words came from my head
We are not meant to survive here
Leave your worries and your memories are not invited
Praise the uncertainty and collective brain
Collective brain
Grab my hand and we will see the future
Admiring the sanity that keeps us human
The day dissolved
With bleak reasonings and wretched smiles
Breathe in fresh air as nature keeps warning us
Never take this for granted
We have destroyed and we will pay for what we have done
Human is hell
The air has been smoke, and the sun hides
As if its somber reflection could not face what we have achieved:
Destruction
Abomination
It’s in our wiring
Giving new life to the apparatus
I hope I’m still here when you read this
I’m not the writer
I’ve done nothing with time
A viewing glass so divine
Intwined in a fountain of evaporated youth
Admiring the sanity that keeps us human
The day dissolved
Sing with me, for today is gone

That first clean vocal. The riffing. The white walls intro. Jesus fuck. The way viridian moved into white walls and the way this moves into it from the gilmour tribute before is just fucking amazing. This album takes me back to 2008 and what else should music do but that. What an outstanding and incredible achievement this is. On album 400 as well! No other band sounds this fresh and hungry this late in their career. Amazing 🤟

It took a real long time for me to enjoy this song at its true value. I'm usually an easy customer for BTBAM, I love practically everything from them but this one first felt a little deceiving in its Finisher role. Half a year later and this song now is in my top 10 ever from them. Structure is pretty classical from BTBAM, but everything is mature, everything is precise. The unchained and chaotic progression of riffs in the first half gets me up every damn time. Then from the break half into the song till the big ending, the buildup is just absolutely perfect. 3 precise moments that stick particularly for me in this song: that riff at 3:25 is the sickest and most entertaining shit they have ever written. From 9:34 to 9:57, something about this part makes me feel nostalgic about a song I first listened in the last year. Pretty amazing, the effect some haunting vocal harmonies can make. And then, the showstopper starting at 11:06 right after a monumental buildup, I always feel like floating down a highway at high speed, feeling weightless. Not even a few songs can make me feel like that. The effet this track, this album and this band has on me is immesureable.

It took me nearly a year to get to this song. I don't know why i always stopped before it and wanted to keep it until i can just sit and listen to it on speakers instead of my phone. It took me a few weeks to a month to listen past the first half the of the CD. I listened to like 80% of it on the first playthroughs when it came out but it was so much crammed into songs that it felt overwhelming so i started listening to like the first 4 songs over and over until i got to know them. Then the next few songs once i started to get tired of the first ones. I like the middle of the CD more. Been listening to this song a lot of the past couple months. I'm a bit weird, i will just listen to the same cd over and over for a very. very. very. long time.

What can i say. I may be stupid and reading too much into this, but i think in terms of lyrics, its a rollercoaster through every concept story(Paralax, Coma and Automata) and the personal story of the writer himself, "Thomas Giles". Certain melodies and parts are clearly throwbacks to these stories. Never seen: "The ants on our backs, they have dropped from the sky" "A velvet room has a familiar smell" Bad Habbits: "Stacked upon one another, yet I cannot grip I cannot grip" I tried to connect them, but then the writer itself came into the story and describes the human society today, with the thoughts of the past(Colours 1) Also, there is no hiding behind characters or stories, just his true thoughts about everything. The Future is behind us shows it clearly(at least for me): "These odd rhythms, they are killing me Yes, me and my brain Drip and melt Follow I made it through" Take note, in the same time the rhythm IS odd and it seems to killing him. This stil of lyrics continues to the end, which is odd for me, because it was always about the story, meanwhile the writer hiddes behind it. "Sometimes I wish I was dead”, is what was said I realized the words came from my head This line got me the most. Like i said, say what you will, but these are my thoughts about it. Its personal, its heavy as fuck but also catchy and "wierd, Bass shines through the whole time, Blake is a beast and the rest did something that, in my opinion, can't be topped anymore. I write down every album and rate it, but after this year its over. THIS is my limit for creativity and listening to music. It will be only a fight for the top 2 and 3, because Number 1 will be Colours forever.

One of the only other bands that pulls from past songs and does it this well is The Dear Hunter. Makes me even more happy to have that 2 song colab they did where they covered each others songs. Best to worst BTBAM albums: 1. Parrallax 1/2 2. Alaska 3. Colors. 4. Coma Ecliptic 5. Colors 2 6. Silent Circus. 7. Self-Titled 8. The Great Misdirect 9. Automata 1/2 Of course they're all solid, with the only album I'm objectively iffy on being Automata 1/2.

This album has every single other album in mind of its best interest. I didn't feel the self-titled album so much, nor The Silent Circus, but every second was so exaggeratively impressionable to colors in how the riffs and harmonies were marked with so much energy. I can't dissuade from giving this album a solid 11!!! Really happy with the whole masterpiece itself, and happy for the musicians who worked to make this album a reality. Thank you! Love, Joel.

Just as with literally every other BTBAM song in existence, nothing clicks with me at the initial listen. There are a few hooks here and there but i simply cannot compute BTBAM from the first listen. Slowly but surely though the songs grow into the masterpieces they really are. I've barely listened to this once so i can't pass judgement. White Walls took me many listens to truly appreciate.

I loved every single second of this album, and as I finish its full playthrough for my very first time, I just want to express how truly overwhelmed with joy I am from this utterly fantastic musical journey. I could have only hoped to end "Colors II" with this kind of feeling - the feeling that you guys didn't just follow up "Colors" brilliantly, but you very well may have outdone it completely. Once this track rolled around after Sfumato, I immediately realized, "Holy shit, they're really going to out-White Walls motherfucking White Walls. They're doing it." And I enjoyed it so, so much. 10 out of fucking 10, BTBAM. Colors is the greatest piece of music I think has ever been recorded in my own lifetime - I thought its legacy was untouchable. You've proven me wrong, in the best way possible.
