We took the latest Revo B9 A4 & S4 development vehicles to a private proving ground and put them head to head. A stock S4 with 354PS up against the B9 Audi A4 2.0 TFSI with Revo Stage 1 Software; +54PS and +48LBFT over stock and a whole lot more fun to drive.

bahaha what crap. 4.9 second 0-60 for the S4?! LOL that is BY FAR the slowest 0-60 time I've seen ANYONE report for the S4. Manufacturer claims 4.4 is a *conservative* number on the S4 0-60. Most times I've seen reported on the forums are 4.1-4.5. This video is Revo trying to sell their product.

They are developing the software for the B9 S4 (this being their test car), however, have a look at Chris harris on Cars and see what they did with his older B8 S4 - interesting, although it was supercharged in that version as opposed to the current 'polar bear friendly' version in the B9. 4.4s to 60 is the fastest reliable time I've seen (you've probably seen others), but I've also seen 5.1s 0-60 for the stock 2.0 TFSI, which is eminently tuneable (so they say....).

@@MayaGuytutorials Yeah - the warranty/insurance is a potential headache but the Revo tunes can be removed and re-installed by them (or their authorised installers) I understand if you need to take the car into Audi - I'm not an expert so unsure if they can ever tell. When I wrote the above I had a B9 Avant 2.0 TFSI, I've now got the B9 S4 Avant. Great car.

@@MayaGuytutorials I have to laugh at myself slightly..... I chopped in my own 2.0 TFSI for an S4 avant. Night and day, good car. These ECUs are now unlocked, just had it stage 1 mapped by SA Tuning, 410 hp and 630 Nm - no idea of the 0-60 (or 0-100 km/h) but it's much, much quicker, and with a Milltek exhaust sounds very good. The guy that runs SA Tuning has his own S4 up to around 560hp with a bolt-on hybrid turbo, tempting....

Its possible because of couple of reasons, the main reason is gear box software update. With remap A4 should be able to reach ~-280-320hp. Add the lighter chassis, and it is in the range of power/weight ratio to S4. Now the main thing is the proper gearbox remap after the engine was tuned. If they adjusted the gearbox properly it is possible to beat stock S4. S4 engine might have more power, but that power is achieved at different engine speeds and that is limited by the gearbox. A4 was tuned to drop the gears at peak power/torque. You can tune a lot of weaker cars to outperform the stronger ones, simply by adjusting the gearbox. In majority of the cases the problem is the reliability and fuel economy on the normal driving conditions as well. And while you can tune the engine, a lot of the cases gearbox becomes the bottleneck especially the automatic gearbox if it is tunable, then its good, but some of those are not tunable... And as for A4, even adding a downpipe alone will give you extra 20-30 horses.

4.9s on the S4 isn't the best run I've seen, but people don't seem to understand the power of weight difference. That A4 could be like 200lbs lighter. A bigger engine doesn't automatically equate to better performance. A tuned S4 is a different story, but it's not that surprising at all to see a tuned A4 beat a stock S4 due to difference in weight and optimized timing/power delivery.

Still, something we are working on. The encryption on the MG1 ECU's was only broken around 4 months ago and we are now working on OBD flashing as currently, the only other solutions on the market is to bench read and write and the ECU. We are looking for a safe OBD software solution. We will let you know when we have something available.

I want to tune it but I'm wondering how it works because the Audi A4 2.0 T 45 TSFI quattro to my understanding has the exact same engine but its electronically more limited by Audi. Yes we still have our S4 and development software. There was around a 2 year wait for any tuner due to the new MG1 ECU and encryption. As we use our own tooling and software to flash vehicles we have been developing tooling to allow our dealers to safely flash these types of ECU's. Add in covid and delays this has caused us over the last 14 months. However, it's in the final stages and hopefully we can give you updates very soon.

​@@nicksss7957 We would only have unhappy A4 stage 1 customers if this wasn't real life. All of them are very happy with our software for the 2.0 TFSI 252PS model. The S4 doesn't have full launch control like the A4. And yes the A4 won time and time again. This wasn't just a single run. The Times at the end of the video are averaged over multiple runs and timed using Racelogic Vbox (like all our performance times to keep consistency) and corrected for slope etc. We have an American customer who ran a 12.7s 1/4mile in his Stage 1 A4, and an 11.96s at Stage 2 in the heat in California. It's impressive for 2.0 TFSI A4 on pump fuel. With 99ron and 102ron European fuels and colder ambient temps, you could see improvements on these too. More proof that software can make impressive gains even compared to an S4 :) Will be very different when we release software for the S4. It's our own development car so very excited to see its full potential as we have had it over 3 years. And it does have all the extras including massage seats, which will add to the curb weight.

Usually, cars dyno figures are around the same as what the manufactures quote. However, During testing and development, the stock performance was a lot higher than the manufacturer's quoted 252PS & 370NM. Which meant we saw peak stage 1 figures of 333BHP & 450NM. But to give more realistic figures, which will vary from dyno to dyno we used the manufacture figures and added on average gains which gives you the 290-316PS & 411-435NM we use on the website. You may see higher figures as we did, but using the gains rather than just peak numbers gives a more realistic indication as our website always uses the stock manufacture figures.

the b9 s4 is really a disappointment. If you want excitement, you want the supercharger, the instant torque, the ease of a pulley upgrade to bump up the power by triple digits. The two things that made the S4 awesome (since the departure from the v8 long ago, which we all have mixed emotions about) were the supercharger and the dual clutch. The b9 not only forgoes the supercharger for a laid back turbo but also comes with a manual or a mushy automatic, meaning any stock b9 will be less than exhilarating. Unfortunate. On the other hand, it's great to see REVO putting down some good numbers with a grocery getter a4.
