I have to wonder, wouldn’t the elongation of the tibia or femur by even a few inches significantly increase the chance of said bones breaking - due to the length of the bone(s) being greater, but with the same amount of girth? This would be my biggest worry with the procedure and I’d be concerned about doing any leg exercises or martial arts after it.
@MrSidney95 жыл бұрын
The original girth of your leg bone is conserved doing limb-lengthening Naturally and the bone heals with absolutely no scars. Note also that taller people don't necessarily have thicker leg bones; Yet you dont see them casually breaking in two. Your femur is stronger than steal and 4times stronger than concrete, which is why even grossly obese people are able to stand and walk without their leg bones collapsing.

You also need to take into account of the fact that Asian countries are less obsessed with height compared to Americans. Its mostly a western, Eurocentric preference, evidenced by the studies done on tribes far away from western media bias. As an Asian who immigrated to America, one of my greatest culture shock was in realizing how shallow and materialistic this society was. Lookism is very much a thing shown through many recent studies. Why do you think racism is a huge issue in America? Because too many people are focused on phenotypic differences even though we all are the same human race.

@@Dah42 Everything i stated so far is corroborated by evidence. Facts are facts, you should acknowledge your countries problems instead of being annoyed about it because that's the only way society can do something to change it. If people are reluctant to even acknowledge a problem exists and go whataboutism with other countries issues, there's not going to be any change. People need to self reflect on themselves when people outside their cultures highlight their issues. No country is perfect, I would happily accept the problems in my country when someone points them out but I'm pretty sure height isn't one compared to what's seen in America. I didn't claim Asian countries have no preference for tall height at all, but in comparison to American women's obsession with height, it very much pales in comparison. Also, the article you linked is talking only about East Asians. I'm from India, and its more common to see couples of the same height there, whereas in America its a rare sight. This isn't just my experience, literally any expat like me who has travelled and lived around the world would agree that its a shared experience of being shocked by American women's obsession. Even people from South America, Australia, other parts of Europe are stumped by women's obsession with height. I have friends in Netherlands ( that has the tallest men and women), and Eastern Europe and even there tall women/short men combination is more common. The ones I dated as well as shown interest in me where also from European countries regardless of my short height. You simply don't have enough evidence to gaslight the shared experiences of millions of people like me.

Had I been a millionaire and thirty years younger I’d have had this…I never realised until later life my limbs are shorter than normal. I have a torso of a tall person, but arms and legs belonging to someone maybe four to six inches shorter….its not enough to be classed as any kind of abnormality….yet simple things like finding a good clothing fit or even getting on a bike that fits my body size are a bit problematic. Extending my legs by four inches would have been fantastic. Oh well, too late to worry now huh!

This is ridiculous. I went through a similar procedure using an external device after a serious accident. They had to remove a piece of bone and they used a lengthening procedure applying the same basic principles as this to "grow" the bone back so my legs would be the same length. There are many issues not addressed in this video and the chances of serious infection and the body rejecting the hardware are high. Why anyone would subject themselves to this voluntarily is beyond me.

I bet they don't tell you that the places on the bone where they drill the holes for the device will never heal quite right. That you can suffer from bone spurs growing at those sights that can break the skin (in the case of the tibia), cause infection and in also require surgery later to resolve. I bet they also don't tell you that your tendons will be stretched resulting in weakness later on. You won't know until you slip on a wet walkway or something like that and blow out your quad resulting in more surgery and months of rehab. I have a very high respect for the doctors who do this, but 15cm is just too much. Unless you have the torso and clavicle size of someone who is 6 inches taller, which is extremely rare, you will not look good! Even with clavicle lengthening, your vertebrae column will be super small, and it will show when you sit down next to taller people.
@asparrow98766 жыл бұрын
I'll be honest with you I thought the same thing, which is why I'm 100% certain the measurements aren't set in stone. I'm sure more would be content with a 1inch (30mm) increase over only ~1 month lengthening & ~3 months recovery *_or_* 2inch (60mm) increase over only ~2 months lengthening & ~6 months recovery. That is for the thigh. If your professional orthopaedic surgeon does tibial too, you can add about 3~6 months recovery for a 1.5 inch increase. That doesn't look bad if you proportionate it correctly.

The leg is not weaker. It is like after a fracture by accident. The new bone is as strong as before. It is your own bone from the body. You can do all sports activities like before once everything is healed completely.

Can you do bilateral of the shin and femur. I have short legs and would want about +5cm on my femurs and shins
@LimbLengthening4 жыл бұрын
You can definitely get 5 cm on femurs and 5 on tibia, but with two separate surgeries, a second surgery after finishing the first lengthening procedure. Believe me it is incredibly painful and difficult to have all four bones operated in one surgery. There is a higher risk of something going wrong in the post-surgery period.

If you interested about that surgery eagerly, i can give you some information&photos&videos about the process. You can access with this number (ps: Do not hesitate about any question that you want to ask from whatsapp) 00905057764313 total 15 cm possible with 2 surgery (femur + tıbia)

Listen, fam, I ignore your motivations but if it's because you feel insecure being a short male, know that most females don't give a heck about your height. Asian girls can be very shallow, it'd be cheaper and easier for you to just move overseas and be happy instead of going through this. Now, if you want to do it not because of external influence, but just because you'd like to be a little taller, *do it fam!*

Whay about the insertion..what kind of scars one gets?
@BetzInstitute_limblengthening6 жыл бұрын
The lengthening nail will be inserted in the marrow hole of the bone. You will have one scar of about 1.5 - 2 cm for the insertion and 3 small scars of 0.5 cm for the interlocking screws to fix the nail in the bone.
