I have to wonder, wouldn’t the elongation of the tibia or femur by even a few inches significantly increase the chance of said bones breaking - due to the length of the bone(s) being greater, but with the same amount of girth? This would be my biggest worry with the procedure and I’d be concerned about doing any leg exercises or martial arts after it.
@MrSidney9
@MrSidney9 4 жыл бұрын
The original girth of your leg bone is conserved doing limb-lengthening Naturally and the bone heals with absolutely no scars. Note also that taller people don't necessarily have thicker leg bones; Yet you dont see them casually breaking in two. Your femur is stronger than steal and 4times stronger than concrete, which is why even grossly obese people are able to stand and walk without their leg bones collapsing.

@SANKET CHARBHE I really appreciate your thoughts and some of the important topic that you posted about are extremely on another level but just think about that In terms of science 1.If we had this procedure then why we couldn't get it done? © Another point to be noted that's if we get it done then after 1.5 years our bones will be as strong as it were before because ( bone will pass through the same remodeling phase as our toungue too pass when get cut through our teeth and becomes as stronger as they were before) over all our let's say femur which is the strongest bone in our body and it is 4 times stronger than a same dimensional steel and it need max 10^8 Pascal of Force to break it( just imagine about the force needed to break it) so over all our body will adapt and will customize it as the condition needed to become as active as we were before. That's why getting it done isn't a problem Again it's depend upon and individual mind set. Bye the way I have seen you commenting about the height issue about 80-90% of the video related to height I have watched uptil now. 🙂

With stryde you seem to get the benefit of full weight bearing however without the twisting motion needed for the betzbone to engage the mechanism inside the nail. Stryde uses magnets and an external device which can lengthen and also in emergency cases where complications are noted it can reverse the lengthening for quick intervention purposes.

nahhh, accepting your height and embrassing it as it is....makes me feel happy eventhough I'm just 5'5 and Asian....being taller doesn't make you a better man (maybe in the physical side of things)but as a whole? nahhh its not...My uncle was just 5'2, he used to be a Container Ship Captain in the early 2000's...he's short, but mannnnn the way he handles his man is so good, his leadership is so good that even those who are older than him and taller than him has so much respect for him...he's just 5'2 but he commanded a more than 300 meters long Container ship sailing around the world, he's asiaj but most of his man under his command was Europeans and they respected him (beacuse of his charisma, energy, and his leadership, not because he is on a higher rank than them) so much even though he is a small captain

You also need to take into account of the fact that Asian countries are less obsessed with height compared to Americans. Its mostly a western, Eurocentric preference, evidenced by the studies done on tribes far away from western media bias. As an Asian who immigrated to America, one of my greatest culture shock was in realizing how shallow and materialistic this society was. Lookism is very much a thing shown through many recent studies. Why do you think racism is a huge issue in America? Because too many people are focused on phenotypic differences even though we all are the same human race.

@@Ghostrider-ul7xn I don't like when people disrespect the U.S. just like you just did... People accuse the U.S. of being "racist" yet people from all over the world are dying for living in this country....Now, why do asian countries refuse to welcome non asians into their countries? it amazes me that in Japan there are very low birth rates and a high percentage of the population is elderly and yet that country refuses to welcome inmigrants... but yeah, let;s fool ourselves and claim that asians are "loving" people whereas americans are "evil". I would like you to please Google these articles "[Weekender] Korea’s obsession with tallness" "The Big Short: How Height Discrimination Hurts Chinese Men" "Why South Korea is the plastic surgery capital of the world" "Chinese Companies Are Hiring White People To Be White"

@@Dah42 Everything i stated so far is corroborated by evidence. Facts are facts, you should acknowledge your countries problems instead of being annoyed about it because that's the only way society can do something to change it. If people are reluctant to even acknowledge a problem exists and go whataboutism with other countries issues, there's not going to be any change. People need to self reflect on themselves when people outside their cultures highlight their issues. No country is perfect, I would happily accept the problems in my country when someone points them out but I'm pretty sure height isn't one compared to what's seen in America. I didn't claim Asian countries have no preference for tall height at all, but in comparison to American women's obsession with height, it very much pales in comparison. Also, the article you linked is talking only about East Asians. I'm from India, and its more common to see couples of the same height there, whereas in America its a rare sight. This isn't just my experience, literally any expat like me who has travelled and lived around the world would agree that its a shared experience of being shocked by American women's obsession. Even people from South America, Australia, other parts of Europe are stumped by women's obsession with height. I have friends in Netherlands ( that has the tallest men and women), and Eastern Europe and even there tall women/short men combination is more common. The ones I dated as well as shown interest in me where also from European countries regardless of my short height. You simply don't have enough evidence to gaslight the shared experiences of millions of people like me.

@@Dah42 Oh and BTW, I've been studying about implicit biases for a decade in America. The most racial biases where found in whites and least found in Asians ( Including East Asians) based on several studies. Extending my legs by four inches would have been fantastic. Oh well, too late to worry now huh!

This is ridiculous. I went through a similar procedure using an external device after a serious accident. They had to remove a piece of bone and they used a lengthening procedure applying the same basic principles as this to "grow" the bone back so my legs would be the same length. There are many issues not addressed in this video and the chances of serious infection and the body rejecting the hardware are high. Why anyone would subject themselves to this voluntarily is beyond me.

I bet they don't tell you that the places on the bone where they drill the holes for the device will never heal quite right. That you can suffer from bone spurs growing at those sights that can break the skin (in the case of the tibia), cause infection and in also require surgery later to resolve. I bet they also don't tell you that your tendons will be stretched resulting in weakness later on. You won't know until you slip on a wet walkway or something like that and blow out your quad resulting in more surgery and months of rehab. All I am saying is that I don't understand why anyone would voluntarily subject themselves to this procedure and then pay six figures to do it.

Listen, fam, I ignore your motivations but if it's because you feel insecure being a short male, know that most females don't give a heck about your height. Asian girls can be very shallow, it'd be cheaper and easier for you to just move overseas and be happy instead of going through this. Now, if you want to do it not because of external influence, but just because you'd like to be a little taller, *do it fam!*

I have a very high respect for the doctors who do this, but 15cm is just too much. Unless you have the torso and clavicle size of someone who is 6 inches taller, which is extremely rare, you will not look good! Even with clavicle lengthening, your vertebrae column will be super small, and it will show when you sit down next to taller people.
@asparrow9876
@asparrow9876 6 жыл бұрын
I'll be honest with you I thought the same thing, which is why I'm 100% certain the measurements aren't set in stone. I'm sure more would be content with a 1inch (30mm) increase over only ~1 month lengthening & ~3 months recovery *_or_* 2inch (60mm) increase over only ~2 months lengthening & ~6 months recovery. That is for the thigh. If your professional orthopaedic surgeon does tibial too, you can add about 3~6 months recovery for a 1.5 inch increase. That doesn't look bad if you proportionate it correctly.
@Racurz

Honestly 5’10-6’1-2 you’d probably get away with because the torso size and wingspan can be in a proportion size for that height
@francovasquez6889

Racurz the average sitting height for a 5’10 is 36.61inches (Spain) and for a 6’1 is 37.45 inches (Netherlands) . Based on my friends, I think a 5’9 is 36.45 inches. Spain and Netherlands measure the average sitting height for their populations, and they publish the results. The US only measures overall height. If you want to estimate how much you can lengthen, then I think you should measure your sitting height, don’t stretch your legs when measuring btw.

@james matthews I dunno man I wouldn't do it if I were you (then again I don't have the urge to get taller) but it seems to me like the technology just isn't there. Besides your legs will get longer giving you short arms (proportionally). I say it isn't worth it. @james matthews Well I'd never do it, I wouldn't want to compromise my ability to be athletic, fight, and run around.
