"Axel F" is the name of the theme and it is Foley's theme. The variation of it in the warehouse scene where Axel and Jenny got caught is called "The Discovery." The Thriller jackets were a popular thing that year. They had lots of zippers with no pockets. Even kids in elementary school wore them. This movie came at the perfect time in 1984. It is one of the definitive years of the decade and one with multiple major movies and new hit shows. "Miami Vice" had just premiered, which is somewhat of a companion to this movie with the pop music (just as MTV had become mainstream), glitzy style, machine guns and cocaine smuggling. Beverly Hills use to be synonymous with rich excess back when only the wealthy and the celebrities shopped at places like Gucci.

This movie reminds me of my childhood. The black gentleman who played Todd, Eddie Murphy's boss, was a real life cop in Detroit. He went into politics as a Detroit city councilman. He was also allegedly somehow involved in a scandal involving the infamous White Boy Rick case when he was a cop. He never faced charges on that though because no solid proof. When Axel rolls up to the hotel lobby and the girl starts typing to look up his claimed reservation, the implication is that this hotel is FANCY, 'cause even the front desk has a computer. 'Cause this was 1984 and computers were mostly limited to certain middle class households but rarely in, I would say, most hotels or businesses except fairly large ones, and mostly only for things like accounting, and there was little to no networking as is ubiquitous today, probably not until the late '90s.

Damn. I was 20 back when this came out and I was a movie usher so I’ve seen it a hundred times. I hope you guys will do “A Bronx Tale “which I feel is a low key story of a young Robert DiNero ! And even the song played at the start of the end credits was none other than Patti LaBelle . The main theme was also a pretty modest hit and was played on the radio.

I haven't seen this movie in a while, I almost forgot how fun it was,FYI the sequel isn't that bad,I liked the fact they kept the same characters. That's a plus for me.I hate when they make sequels and have different people playing the original characters. But this franchise did the right thing and kept the original characters, even the small ones. FYI great reaction another old eddie Murphy action movi to check out if you haven't yet is 48hours.

One of the best facts about this movie is that Sylvester Stallone was originally supposed to be the lead. He turned it down and Eddie Murphy got it
