20:13 "dude you are terrible with stealth! Why does he get caught so much?" Axel doesn't do stealth, he does gaslighting. He doesn't sneak into places, he walks right up to the front door and convinces the guard he owns the place.

The guy who gave him the bananas is the oldest Wayans brother, Damon, in his first role. I love this movie, it's one of the best action movies from the 80's, no cheesey one liners, no over the top explosions, and the jokes/humor are great not forced into a situation just for a joke. Great reaction, you should definitely watch part two, it's awesome as well...happy birthday as well

Good to see you again! One of the best Action Comedy movies ever made! Originally Sylvester Stallone was going to play the role of Axel Foley, but hated the script as he didn't like the humor and wanted to be a darker violent action film. When producers read his rewritten draft, they refused to work with Stallone and Stallone took his rejected draft of the script and turned it into COBRA.
@dudermcdudeface3674
@dudermcdudeface3674 5 ай бұрын
It's sad that Sly was in a humorless mood at the time. A few years later he totally killed the comedic timing in Demolition Man.
@IdliAmin_TheLastKingofSambar
@IdliAmin_TheLastKingofSambar Ай бұрын
It was a lot more amicable than that, and the producers praised Stallone for being thoroughly professional and gentlemanly about the whole thing. Stallone didn’t hate the original script; he just wanted to tailor it to his own style by cutting down on the comedy and ratcheting up the action. He also wanted Axel’s last name to be Cobretti, so he could be nicknamed the “Motor City Cobra.” The producers didn’t refuse to work with Stallone; the studio balked because all the extra action that he had added was going to blow up the film’s budget, and said it had to be cut, whereupon Stallone graciously bowed out of the project. In fact, most of the cast were hired while Stallone was still attached to the film, including Judge Reinhold, John Ashton, Ronny Cox, and Lisa Eilbacher (who was going to be Stallone’s love interest). However, Mikey was going to be Axel’s brother, played by Stallone’s own brother Frank. Eddie Murphy was brought on just a couple of weeks before production started.

The movie made such an impression on Paramount executives that they comitted to a sequel moments after the first private executive screening of the completed film. Axel's boss, Inspector Todd, was in fact a real life Detroit police detective at the time!!! The director noticed him during a trip to the police station and hired him for the part! Bronson Pinchot invented the persona of "Serge" himself after being inspired by all the shop assistants in Beverly Hills whose nationality was ambiguous. His meeting with Axel in the art gallery was almost entirely ad-libbed and had to be done many times due to members of the cast and crew breaking up with laughter. The hilarious bit where Axel rolls up to the Harrow club in his "crappy blue chevy-nova" and says something like "Put it in a good spot, all this sh*t happened the last time I parked here" was a witty ad-lib by Murphy, as was the entire "SuperCop" story he tells to Bogamil. Producer Don Simpson sadly passed away in early 1996, after years of battling drug addiction. "The Rock" was the last film he and Jerry Bruckheimer made together. Bruckheimer, on the other hand, has spent the last 15 years producing movies on his own, and doing wonderfully with it. He finished out the 90's with "ConAir", "Armageddon" and "Enemy Of The State". In the 21st Century, he turned some of his talents to television with such shows as "The Amazing Race", "Cold Case", and the three "CSI" series. But Mr. Blockbuster(as he's called) also continued his film work with "Pearl Harbor", "Gone In 60 Seconds" and "Black Hawk Down". But beginning in 2002, his partnering with Walt Disney Pictures has given Jerry some of his greatest success, especially the two franchises "Pirates Of The Caribbean" and "National Treasure". During the "supercops" scene John Ashton has his head down pinching his face in apparent frustration but he is actually laughing. Judge Reinhold had his hand in his pocket pinching his leg as hard as he could to stop himself laughing. This is one of many scenes with improvised lines. Eddie Murphy, John Ashton and Judge Reinhold all had improvised comic lines throughout the film and there were many ruined scenes because of the cast and crew breaking out in laughter. The scene where Taggart & Rosewood are sat in their car and Rosewood talks about "the average middle age American man having 5 pounds of undigested red meat in his bowels" was actually used as a casting scene. The director was testing the chemistry between the finalists and gave them scenes to improvise. Ashton & Reinhold's scene was as an average middle-age couple. The scene in the film is their improvision that got them the parts. From: www.fast-rewind.com/making_bhcop.htm

"Before I go, I just want you two to know something, alright? The supercop story... was working. Okay? It was working, and you guys just messed it up. Okay? I'm trying to figure you guys out, but I haven't yet. But it's cool. You fuck up a perfectly good lie." Fun Fact: Film debut of Damon Wayans and Alice Cadogan. Gilbert R. Hill, a real-life Detroit Police Department Homicide Detective, played Inspector Todd. Hill later served as President of the Detroit City Council. Projection Headline Fact: During his tirade at the Beverly Palms Hotel, Axel (Eddie Murphy) pretends to be writing an article called "Michael Jackson: Sitting On Top Of The World" for Rolling Stone magazine. In real life, Playboy ran an Eddie Murphy article with the same "Sitting On Top Of The World" subtitle. Double Assault Fact: The mansion used in the final shootout between Axel (Eddie Murphy) and Maitland (Steven Berkoff), the former Harold Lloyd estate in Beverly Hills, is the same mansion seen in the final shootout between Matrix and Arius in Commando (1985). Coincidentally, both heroes were trying to rescue somebody named Jenny (Lisa Eilbacher) in that mansion in their respective films. What Script Fact: Eddie Murphy, John Ashton, and Judge Reinhold improvised most of their comic lines. Literally hundreds of takes were ruined by cast members, actors, or the director laughing during shooting. During the "super-cops" monologue, Ashton is pinching his face hard and looking down in apparent frustration. He is actually laughing. Reinhold put his hand in his pocket and pinched his thigh really hard, trying to prevent himself from laughing.

In today's prices that hotel suite would be about $710 a night. However if you go to the Beverly Hills Hotel the standard room rate is $1,300 to $1,500 a night. That's the standard room rates. You can be sure the rates for the hotel Suites are a lot more than that. & Then there's the food. A short stack (3 pancakes $30) Coffee $6 no refills. Pancakes & coffee for 4 cost $150. Great reaction. I've loved this since i was a kid, when it was first on British tv, i agree this one isn't often on. Hope you watch the second one too, that's also really good (in my opinion).. This film though u s my 5th favourite movie, the only ones i love more are Pulp Fiction, Halloween (og), Die Hard, and A Fish Called Wanda.

Watching this as lads we just said "get the fk outa here!" all the time lol An action comedy that isn't just murder/beheading porn and scatalogical humour. The art of these films is lost :/

This is the best one, by far. The second one leans more into action, less so comedy. It's just not as good. COP was directed by Martin Brest, who also directed the great MIDNIGHT RUN.

The third one sucks because Eddie started wanting to make movies for kids. All his adult fans jumped ship.

@RyanCarrington yea it was a box office flop. Your basic action movie with nothing but action and some good one liners. Worth a watch though. In Beverly Hills cop 2 there's a bit of a nod to the film. Theres a movie poster of Cobra that shows up.

Bail is just money you give them as insurance that you'll show up in court. If you don't show up in court, they keep the money. If you do, you get it back. It's still evil, because obviously poor people can't do it. Even with the loan system known as "bail bonds". Our constitution actually forbids excessive bail, but good luck making courts enforce that.
