Plus public schools in the 1980s and 1990s would have had to refer students suspected of having a disability for evaluation. It's unlikely Donna just got a learning disability during the SAT tests. They took tests in numerous classes prior to the SATs.

The law requires all students be identified and then testing suggested to the parents. An upscale public school like WBH and the West Beverly Hills School District would yes be doing this in the 1980s and 1990s.

Donna's dad is a doctor and doctors across various disciplines do socialize with each other and talk. So he probably had some idea of what a learning disability looked/could look like. What would have been hard is getting the support information and information re rights under law--bc this is pre-internet era They'd have to write away for brochures, fliers etc and hope the address they wrote to was current.

It's not a shopping center. That is the whole Fred Segal's store on Melrose. It still looks exactly like that today, except it closed down in 2018 after being at that location since 1965. Another piece of history gone!

Yeah, it's amazing how late, if ever, people get diagnosed. I had a friend who also got diagnosed in college and her dyslexia was severe. Kids can compensate or get overlooked by overwhelmed high school teachers but in college it becomes hard to keep up. That's @@MsDisneylandlover

I liked this storyline for Donna but very sad her dyslexia went undiagnosed until junior year. I guess this show was ahead of it’s time lol IEP’s we’re around back then but probably not as common as they are today.

they were around back then---which is why this story line makes zero sense. Any public school would have had to contact Donna's parents if they suspected her of having a learning disability. It's a bad storyline since Donna was attending public schools in the 1970s and 1980s when there was also special education (it started in 1975). Really unlikely that she has dyslexia only in high school.

True story: I had this macho playboy guy fall hard for me in 1992 when we were 17. He use to stay on the phone with me and watch 90210 and listen to my commentary. His friends had no idea that he became so feminine for me. I wound up hurting him out of insecurities. He is still hurt to this day and we're 50 now. He's miserably married for 7 years. I've never been married and miserably single...(well not that miserable). I came to watch these clips just to recapture some of the feeling I had when he and I were young and in love. (He was the one. He still is.)

It was mainly headbangers that did, which happened to be most of my friend group. Yeah, the rest of school considered us trashy. 😂 I never smoked because my parents did and I hated the smell, but a lot of my friends did. I was the one trying to talk them out of it.

It is interesting when Shannen Doherty had problems with Spelling and cast Aaron Spelling changed the plot and became the "pefect" Brenda Walsh in a smoker.
