Great vlog! Santa pola is where the process the salt. When you pass it, you will see the piles of salt as high as 3/4 buses, my mum has had a villa in La Marina Alicante for 40 years it's just pass Guadamar going north towards the airport from Torrevieja xx

Loads and loads of ex-pats in Torrevieja. We had a friend who moved there 40 years ago and it was a small village. She's now gone back to the UK as it's too crowded with British people and their view is obliterated by loads of high rise buildings.

There is a big shopping centre called the Boulevard near to Torrevieja that is a great van park up, a smaller version of the one in Murcia, there is also a 100 Montedios

We love Torevieja that much were selling our motorhome to buy somewhere there. We spent nearly a month there on the site your on 18 months ago. The English are no longer the largest expat community. It's nothing like Benidorm, although we love Beni too. Torrevieja is a great place for a second home, we now have quite a few friends there. So many great areas and places close by as well. Properties have increased in price massively over the last few months. The pinkness of the lake varies all the time.

Great video! We lived in a few places near Torrevieja. If you have not left already. Loz Alcázares near San Pedro del Pintar is beautiful. A more Spanish feel on Mar Menor warm Laguna. There is also the mud baths beside it where people go and a great place for Churros on the beach! Dos Mares shopping centre also has some cool toilet😂.

I had the best paella there back in the 70’s. It was 250 pasetas, for a three course set meal of the day, which nearly all restaurants did, that’s about £1.50 ish! It was very much still Spanish back then. It’s changed a lot! Brought back some happy memories though. You outfits matched the colour of the red lake and the algae has red pigment in, that’s eaten by the shrimp which turns the flamingos pinky red. Great vlog, happy travels to you both!😊

To get more appreciation of the area it's probably worth viewing the KZbin channels such as Between the Lakes and Brits in Spain plus several others. The place needs more cycle paths but they have actually put in some that link Torrevieja with places like Montisenos that is several kms inland. Enjoying your videos.

Hi Lisa and Mark, first of all please take care over there as we have seen there are storms and floods. To be honest i think i prefer other places than torrevieja, its still nice to visit and have a mooch round. That cycle path was silly ending like that, cant understand why they would do that lol. The parking place was an ideal spot for you, and little chicco seemed to enjoy his walk on the beach area. Anyway take care x

Great vid again 😊 We have spent many a jan and feb down there and know the area really well If you want to see flamingos the nearest and easiest way is head to Santa pola on the n332 through where they dry out the sea water and harvest it Some massive fish in the tributaries as well Yes flamingos turn pink from what they eat ( mark was right 😂) But not much else as it’s a bit of a building site with no really old stuff there We had 20-25 degrees in jan - feb Could we live there ? No it’s not home for us even though her parents have lived there for many years Retire yes 😊

Didn't know the salt lakes were out of bounds, I went in it a few times and covered myself in the mud, it's supposed to be good for the skin, or so I was told 🤣 I also used to practice driving down there as it's so quiet.

You may have heard that it's because they eat shrimp, but the real answer is a little more complex. Flamingos and shrimp are actually both pink from eating algae that contains carotenoid pigments. Flamingos eat both algae and shrimp-like critters, and both contribute to their fabulous pinkness.
