Assalamu 'alaikum Fatoumatta, believers can definitely be tested with depression. Allah told us he will test us through different things, including our health. Depression sometimes runs in the family: it is an illness. There are two types of depression: one type is when people get deeply sad, when something very bad happens. Another type is when you start feeling very sad etc. for no obvious reason. These are tests from Allah, not necessarily a sign that you are doing something 'wrong' as a Muslim

Walekum Assalam, I would love to say you something remember Allah loves you it's totally fine that you feel depressed.It's a part of life.Read Surah Duha and it will tell you even Prophet SAW (Peace and blessing be upon him).Think in a different way Allah is testing you with depression and not other because Allah knows you are strong enough to go through this.You have the capablity to carry on.Always remember you are an strong army.
