Ginger Bakers sense of time and independence with his limbs/brain that it's hard to overstate. The man had it. Ignore all the bullshit they laid on him. Focus on the drumming. His influence and incorporation of African rhythm was amazing.

There are a lot of artists and geniuses that are not the best humans to be around. But that intensity and drive is what made Ginger a great. So many acts from the 60’s and 70’s were not fond of Zeppelin because they were the first band to truly understand the music business and turned it to their advantage.

Thanks Micheal. Great video on Sid Barrett. 5 Years later, mine are still blocked. I even got a copyright strike for Piper.... Sid content is not meant to be shared I guess.

I saw that film on TV last year in germany, and I was delighted to find it here on your Reaction and Review. I always loved him it started with cream , and then all the years through. He will always belong to the best 5 drummers I have ever heared in my long live..... and I am old.... bless you all.

Epitome of shut up and drum (dribble)...like Pete T. Loose tongue defiles one. Hes awesome in the short-lived band, Masters of Reality. Realky nice playing. Bonham, Ringo, Baker used to be my ranking...

Clapton has great disdain for zeppelin as many did from that period. Funny to GB thinking Bonham can’t swing. Bonzo had amazing feel, groove and swing that just couldn’t be matched. Ringo too. GB was cool but as Clapton said not even on the same level. Even with this tribute to jeff beck coming up, there is no Page in the line up.

I don't hear the jazz swing in Bonham--who I love--Ginger is right on that one. And EC is right that Ginger was a fully formed musician, composer, arranger, harmonics, etc., which is not Moon or Bonham. I think for his era, Ginger is certainly the best. Listen to Toad live from the 1968 farewell concert and you will hear the clear differences with what Bonham/Moon could and could not do. But Bonham was the only drummer for Zep. Also, EC did not have disdain for Zep because of their success (Eric was already successful and rich)--it was because he is much more a blues purist and did not like so much what Zep did with traditional blues songs--I do--but I am not a blues purist.

@@gregcable3250 jazz swing. Maybe a reference would help. Idk if anything I’ve heard from GB would be what I think of as a jazz swing. Gene Krupa def heard in bonzos playing and that’s the swing I’m referring to
