I see Tony's raised attention and affection to Carmela after his cheating as a form of guilt and insurance. In Tony's mind cheating is justifiable as long as he buys Carmella a piece of jewelry or any physical item that makes her feel special. It is not really that he appreciates her more he just knows deep in his heart what he is doing is wrong but as long as he fulfills his role of husband the rest really doesn't matter.

interesting fact: lady gaga is in this episode. plays one of the friends during the pool scene

Don’t forget, after you wrap this series up they have the prequel movie “The Many Saints of Newark” that focuses on Christopher’s father. You also get glimpses of young Uncle june and Tony’s father and a lot of familiar characters

Most people aren't surprised you normalize cheating. Just probably surprised that you're surprised a man that murders and extorts people for a living would cheat haha. I mean we all know just celebs in general cheat hella due to the status they're held at plus the money / influence , power they have to work with. So of course a man in Tony's position would. I understand you're all not "outraged" by it or anything. But still Tony is such a bad dude that being racist is probably 3rd on the list of his bad qualities followed by murderer and extortionist lol. Plus there have been psychological links to sociopathic and or psychotic personalities enduring crippling sexual addictions among the other anti social behavior

Given the emphasis of the snakes fucking themselves during the episode, i think it's a symbol for destructive tendencies, as in, a call to fuck your own life. In that sense, the symbol applies to Tony for pursuing the affair, and to Gloria for the fact she considers a great idea to date a Mr. Waste Management businessman.

I love the way the episode begins with Carmela having doubts over Jackie and Tony being assured it was a good match. Then, it ends on the opposite, Carmela being charmed by Jackie's performance and Tony being worried after seeing who he really is.

I feel like Tony punching mikey was a different type of vibe/situation.. Tony already warned Chris that he couldn’t touch mikey bcs he’s made, & told Chris he would handel it. Tony knew that Jacky (acting boss) was on his death bed and that he probably wouldn’t get in trouble punching mikey himself

Just noticed the similarity between AJ and Jackie Jrn, both have moments in this episode where they just 'go with the flow', AJ with the vandalism and Jackie with the gambling. They both excuse their behaviour as just being something that happened without control. I think Tony hates this so much because he is obsessed with control and leadership in the Mob, and he wants his "heir" AJ to resemble that quality, but if he isnt capable, his potential son in Law fixing that would leave Tony's ego undamaged. Jackie is also a good punching bag to take out his frustrations with his son, while also doing the right thing in his culture and protecting his daughter.

Some foreshadowing is more obvious than others. The snake stuff is pretty in your face. What wasn't so in your face is when Jackie tells Meadow what class he's taking at Rutgers, the one for the paper Meadow wrote for him. Its Literature of Obsession...get ready boys!

6:30 funny thing is that that happened to me trying to see the premiere of many Saints of Newark. I went to the wrong movie theater that was across the street from the movie theater. They were like we’re not watching this movie at this time and then they looked at the ticket and they were like oh that’s across the street. We sprinted we missed like five minutes. 😂🤦🏽♂️
