For thousands of years, people have proposed many objections to Noah’s ark. Because of these doubts, most people don’t even believe that Noah’s ark was real, but think that it was just a made-up story. In this video, Calvin Smith from Answers in Genesis-Canada gives an extremely thorough overview of Noah’s ark that will challenge skeptics and encourage Christians.

My biggest contention with many portrayals and explanations is that the ark was NOT a ship. It did not need a bow, a stern, anchors or any other ship stuff. It did not have to navigate the waters or any such thing; all it had to do was float, that's all, nothing more.

I had ~10 years in Architecture. I built a scale model of the ark according to the biblical proportions & I built it like a 3 story barge, with a keel, It floated very stably, though I stirred the water vigorously. This author did a very good job, thank you & shalom
@mrhwi
@mrhwi Жыл бұрын
Did you build this ark out of thousands of to-scale boards using wooden pegs to connect them ? Did you leave it in water for the same length as the ark supposedly was exposed. Those would be extremely relevant variables that would impact a boats buoyancy. Do you think stirring the water accurately portrayed the conditions of a world-wide flood ? I'm sort of hoping you haven't designed any buildings.

You can hit me with all the blah blah you want to about modern nutrition /medicine. When building something required muscle to cut , shape, attach every little piece , man was much more substantial. My grandfather was an old style master carpenter . Even at 80 years old, he was more man than me at 30. I was more man at 30 than 3 punks that live on social media and have everything handed to them at the push of a button . I caught my grandfather carrying a 200lb log on his shoulder across my yard at over 80 years old , with a bad hip , walking with a cane . He refused my help when I came home from work and saw him. He died at 96 and never went to Doctors . He made moonshine for years and drank his profits. He smoked filterless cigarettes. People today are jokes compared to men just 100 years ago . There are records of many of my ancestors living close to 100 years, some beyond . My great grandmother died at 103. My mother is 88 and sharp as a tack. She was under the care of "modern medicine " for several years and had high blood pressure and diabetes. She decided to get away from the Drs and get back to living off God's remedies . The idea that the human genome is degrading and that a better constellation of genes back then actually existed to make Noah and Friends way smarter - that idea is an ad hoc work-around to explain away the silliness of this video's claim. "If 2 guys working today can put up a house ...". 2 guys can b/c they go to Home Depot and haul studs and beams in their F250. They use nail guns and power saws with extension cords and battery packs. They don't cut timber and mill logs. What they buy is supplied by a manufacturing and distribution system that dwarfs what we had 50 years ago, never mind pre-Sumerian days. Our host Calvin Smith should try to put up a modern stud and beam house with Noah's techniques to see how long that would take, then extrapolate to a 500 foot-long ark. Some things I have trouble understanding are 1) The ark was built on three levels, Gen 6:16: "A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it" so that, one would imagine, all the food for the animals and people would have been stored on the lowest and part of the mid level, unless the top deck is included as a level. If that "window" did not run around the full upper level of the ark, everything would have died of asphyxiation in a very short while. We have to consider that, under the circumstances, humidity levels would have been very high indeed, so that all the feed would become damp and would have started fermenting. Verse 21: "And take thou unto thee of all food that is eaten, and thou shalt gather it to thee; and it shall be for food for thee, and for them." Noah could obviously not have taken freshly cut green feed into the ark, because that would have rotted within a very short while, so it would all have had to be desiccated. However, this would have caused it to absorb moisture from the atmosphere, adding extra weight and causing it to deteriorate rather rapidly. Notice the phrase "ALL the food". Does this mean that the grazers would have had enough food to keep them all occupied all day long, as they spend most of their time eating? What about the carnivores? With only two of every kind of animal, how would Noah and his family have been able to cater to their nutritional needs? 2) Some sort of limit must have been placed upon the reproductive capacity of the rodents and other smaller creatures which can reproduce up to six times a year. Unless they were fed to the carnivores and eaten by Noah, they would have spread and soiled everything by the end of that year. The problem here is that none of these creatures are of a reasonable size to be eaten until they are about six months old, so that they would not have provided any food for the first six months, but being so small, they would not have made a decent meal for any of the middling to larger carnivores. 3) With all that food around, Noah and his family would have been fully occupied 24/7 just trying to keep all the creatures fed. Who would have done the mucking out? 4) With the amount of methane produced by the animals' "exhaust gases", Noah did not dare to light any lanterns lest he blow the ark clean out of the water, so how did they manage to see on the lower levels and how did they remove the gas, which would have killed the animals, so going back to point 1), that window would have been pretty useless, even if it DID run around the entire top deck of the ship. Methane is heavier than air, so it would have tended to migrate to the lower levels, the bottom-most being where the food was kept. Nobody and nothing would have survived more than a few minutes down there, so the food was untouchable. All the animals on the ark would have starved to death as a result. I wonder if Calvin Smith, or anyone else for that matter, would be able to answer my questions concerning Genesis 1 and 2, because nobody else has been able to do so since I began asking them more than 60 years ago.

The biblical account of Noah's flood cannot be fully embraced as a possible event taking place on earth, without first understanding the physics involved when said water covered the whole earth and caused all life apart from the boat to perish. The physics involved are embedded in the biblical account for creation... and not truthfully claimed for the world's "scientific" view of evolutionary origins. The physics we observe to date will support only one account for creation of all noncorrupted life, earth, stars, sun and moon; with true and uncorrupted scientific testing by simple experiments. Question is: Does your particular creation view point tell you that the flood was possible by means of understanding how water will always find its level point and fill up its container to the point all life outside the boat did indeed perish as the biblical account claims? ...or does it say it wasn't possible? Remember, The evolution story is believed by most, even as they may believe the biblical account for creation... simply for believing that God created all that exists, while we also give him all credit for creating a false world view of the creation story... -when we say earth is a globe and flying thru space, we also say it evolved from a big bang origin... thus forgetting God's biblical account he provided, as we put our "trust in science", the world view of evolution deemed true and created by Satan and his liars hiding the truth about the biblical account for creation. Study into the Flat Earth and it will blow the lid off your former life, and reveal many if not most of Satan's agendas. Flat earth knowledge is the biblical account, and the key that opens the door to most other hidden truths we live to understand better about our existence by God's own will to make all he created... to be special to him, and reveals we are not created by accident as the evolution world view account puts us as...

@@CalebBerman My fellow human. I appreciate that your message was sent to me in good faith, however, and to be clear I don't want to start a 'debate thread', I should state my position. I was raised Roman Catholic, and believed whole heartedly in my church and faith, as my parents, and parents before them, and parents before them. In other words, I was raised Catholic. However if I was raised Muslim, then I would be a Muslim. If I were raised Buddhist, then I would be Buddhist. If there were one faith that all should observe, then it's my view that it would be apparent to all from birth; not just to those who were raised in that faith or those who are lucky enough to be exposed to it. Is it better to 'pick any religion' or to live without faith in "a" god? Whichever the god of whichever religion one chooses then becomes The God. And short of one's own opinion, one god cannot be proven other another. Many religions are ancient, many have ancient texts with instructions on how to live one's life. All contain a 'Saviour' figure and many have promise of eternal afterlife. All contain good and bad elements, and all (as Humans do) tend to remember the good elements while conveniently ignoring the bad, or twisting them to seem good. For that reason, I am without decision on one religion over another. And that gives me peace of mind. For you, having faith in your God and your Saviour of Jesus Christ give you peace and joy, and for that I'm happy for you. So let us live our lives in the realms that make ourselves happy, and proceed together into the future, however on different paths. If they should meet some day; on my road, on your road, or on a completely different road, let's just enjoy each other's company and be happy.

Don't see a reference to mountains in the creation account, so it's possible that there weren't many, or any, before the flood, & they were created by the "fountains of the deep" bursting (volcanic eruptions? Which have created mountains). Also, creation account references "waters above" which could be a canopy enveloping the Earth, creating a "greenhouse effect" that came down when the "windows of Heaven" were opened. The waters then would freeze at the poles, evaporate into clouds, & recede into the crevices that the "fountains of the deep" vacated.

The waters that flooded the whole earth came from above the atmosphere and Rocky ready to Earth it was a water can it be around the earth that kept it a greenhouse effect, that's why the South and North Pole used to be tropical. When the waters came coming down it did flooded the whole Earth, in Genesis it does mention mountains, as a matter of fact it said the tallest mountain in the world back then was covered by at least 22 ft of water by the flood. @@nicoperrin1060 There's a dead-obvious explanation for the presence of fossils of shells and other sea creatures all over the place, including the tops of mountains. Look it up, Nico. Google is your friend. That said, seeing as you haven't yet taken that simple and obvious step to learn the truth, I'm willing to bet you're blissfully unmotivated in your self-imposed religious ignorance and don't honestly want to know the answer. And if you're determined to maintain your belief in whatever god you happen to believe in, avoiding the truth is very sensible of you. Developing the skills of critical thinking is antithetical to maintaining belief in a god. That's why there's a significant inverse correlation between education and religiosity. In other words, the more education one has, the less likely one is to believe in a god, or any of the other fantastical evidence-free claims of this or that religion. Study after study demonstrates this. For one example that examines the results of over five dozen studies, take a look at "The Relation Between Intelligence and Religiosity: A Meta-Analysis and Some Proposed Explanations," in the peer-reviewed journal, Personality and Social Psychology Review. The authors of this meta-analysis reviewed the results of 63 studies. They found, as usual, that there is a significant negative correlation between intelligence and religiosity (journals.sagepub.com/doi/abs/10.1177/1088868313497266). The most effective strategy for hanging onto those comforting, evidence-free religious beliefs? Avoid learning the truth about how the world actually works.

For a given length, mass, etc, a certain amount of strength is required to meet the structural needs of a boat hull go past that limit you end up with catastrophic failure i.e the ship beaks up. Have a look at what Happen to the MV Arvin as an example of what happens to ship when it is used out it design constraints. I fail to se how the Ark could have survived a 40 day storm given it size.

When that guy starts discussing the precise length of a cubit, he's trying to generate the appearance of accuracy. It wouldn't matter if the cubit was 18 inches or 20, the Ark would still be too big to build and survive, and still too small to hold every animal. He has a good point, though, in saying that Noah didn't necessarily do the building with his own hands. Noah could have emptied his bank account, sold his land, and taken all kinds of loans to buy materials and tools, and promised to pay the contractors when the job was done, all knowing the Flood was coming and he'd never have to cough up. But the Bible doesn't say that Noah had any hired helpers. The vid guy's just making an assumption. He should read the Bible literally. He sets up a straw man by pretending that scoffers think Noah had to go to Australia to get animals. Nobody thinks that. Everybody knows that the animals just showed up - they may be wrong, but that's the prevailing belief. He's just scoring an imaginary point. But he explains that Australia wasn't that far away, then. He subscribes to Flood Geology, the belief that all the land was altered and the continents moved. The Bible doesn't say that happened - it's all false belief. In fact, the Bible gives the location of the Garden of Eden by referencing rivers that exist today, and it uses the present tense. The rest of the Bible hardly refers to the Flood at all. It certainly isn't the center of the Christian faith. If Christians would call the story a metaphor, they would be a lot better off. Basing their religion on a short account of something so bizarre is really bad for them.

No, the ark wasn't too big to survive, and no it wasn't too small to hold every kind of animal required. Your point about not hiring help isn't even valid. Either assumption is equally valid, and they are both assumptions. Noah might have hired help, he might not have. Either way he had plenty of time to build it. And the rivers that exist today could very well have been named after the historic ones in the garden of eden. They aren't the same rivers just because they have the same names.

It really doesn't matter what cubit was used, the Ark would be too small for its requirements. DO SOME MATH yourself. 3 decks at 300 cubits long by 30 cubits wide by 45 cubits high. And remember to reduce available space by hull shape, dimensions of hull materials and materials of the roof, floors, walkways, stairs and ramps, interior walls, living space for each individual (unless you're running on the sardine packed Ark "theory".) AND the 1 cubit opening at the top just below the roof. And then remember that everyone was in the Ark for more than a year, and they had to not only carry enough food and water for that time, BUT there would be no food (or likely any potable water either) when they left the Ark in the 2nd month of Noah's 601st year. They'd have to have seed and cuttings for planting AND enough food to feed everyone until harvest, at least one full growing season. (they also had to have enough to replant all the original habitats of all the animals, and that would need be done in time enough to allow harvest in the first year.) Even that requires that the flood didn't sterilize the soil for years to come - which it would have. All aquatic and microbial life would be gone. The soil would be contaminated with all that "turbulence" that YEC claims happened, AND the land at sea level would have been under more than 12,000 psi for the most part of a year. Use the Royal cubit if you wish, it still doesn't allow sufficient room. AND doesn't account for methane issues either. The first match Mrs. Noah lit to start her cooking fires after about a week would have set off a methane explosion. And that also brings up, there had to be room enough for fuel for any fires and room for torches (how else could Noah read his 1611 KJV after the day's chores were done?)

If he can make a burrito so hot that he can't eat it, then he's not all-powerful. And if he can eat it, then he wasn't able to make a burrito too hot for him to eat, meaning he's not all-powerful. So either of the only two possible outcomes -- either he can eat the burrito or he can't -- demonstrates that he's not all-powerful, which is to say that "all things" are NOT possible with the guy. That’s why you see sea creatures on top of mountains because millions of years ago the mountains were covered with sea water on the ocean floor. Do the math. (it also calculates out to 1.75 standard American Football fields, if that helps you visualize). Try taking that space, build a wall 15 ft around it with only 1 door and one 18-inch opening at the top, fill it full of animals, per Genesis specs, and 8 human caretakers, seal it up for 1 year and 10 or 17 days, open the door at the end of that time and see who's still alive. Concerning the tv commercial that touts the Bible as a history book. As a science advocate, I take strong issue with the nonscience the Ark Adventure peddles to families and students. Their parody of the scientific method does real harm, bleeding inexorably into education and public policy. The wholehearted embrace of "alternative facts" and the rejection of plain evidence are making our society more and more polarized. Concerning their commercial, the Bible is NOT a history book as they claim. Historians must rely on physical evidence and accounts judged probable given known natural laws. Therefore, biblical accounts involving overt miracles-while possibly true from a religious perspective-do not meet the high bar required to qualify as historically reliable. Deceptive or not? In contrast to theology, history as an academic discipline deals with people, events, and evidence that can be empirically analyzed. Historians focus on discovering facts, uncovering primary sources, and verifying claims through critical analysis. Unlike matters of faith, historical claims can be corroborated by tangible proofs like archaeological findings, written records from the time period, corroborating accounts, etc. Historians rely on evidence, not faith. Legitimate historiography requires examining all texts and sources according to uniform benchmarks of reliability and accuracy. Biblical writings cannot withstand the same scrutiny and corroboration applied to non-religious historical documents and often rely on supernatural explanations. Hence, the Bible fails to meet conventional standards for impartial, evidence-based history. Baaaaaaahhhhhh...

While I am not convinced the author or any of us mortals knows the true story of the flood, what I do know is that God can use supernatural capabilities, not unlike Jesus used when he asked God to change water to wine or raise the dead. It would seem certain that God has these abilities to move mountains at will, as he says we all do, then herding the animals would have been accomplished with or without the use of higher ground.

How did they get from Australia or small islands all over the world?
@thomasstuart6861
@thomasstuart6861 Жыл бұрын
@@ronmarvicsin7709 That is a definite question upon which the story of the flood is argued. There are answers and I am certain that as time passes more convoluted suggestions will be discussed. However the best answer today has to do with is the universe created or naturally aspired. Many scientists have come to consider that the universe is a simulation, a very good one but scientific factors such as the double slit have provoked consideration. For example, in a very good video game none of the details are rendered until the game play considers it necessary. This is because computing power is limited. In the same way, science is now considering that much of what exists only exists when it's details are required to be rendered. In this case, Australia may not have been rendered or there was no need for the flood to be inclusive. Is the universe a simulation? The definitive answer is that it would make no difference and that is the true mystery. Just as an addendum, is it important that some animals are self aware and others are not....what difference would that make in a simulation where the islands and the animals therein, were not in existence until observed. Or not.

He argues that the earth was one supercontinent at the time of Noah and separated into the continents that we know today. There are some issues with this. In order for the continents to move to their current locations in such a short period of time, a tremendous amount of heat would have been generated; enough to make earth inhospitable. The physics and math show this. Also, we should expect to see overlapping of current flora and fauna fossils from different continents where they were once connected. Meaning, we should find Australian marsupial fossils in Africa, South America, Australia and vise versa. If non-avian dinosaurs existed during Noah’s time, then we should expect to find Triassic, Jurassic and modem species buried together.

1. The most common date given for the flood is 4400 years ago, right in the middle of the Egyptians first burst of city and temple building, why did they not notice they were under water? 2. To flood the planet to over top the highest mountain you would need about 3 to 4 times the known amount of water in the world, where did all that water come from? 3. After the flood, where did the water go? 4. How did 8 people build a wooden ship bigger than any wooden ship built in modern times when THAT ship was reinforced with steel bracing and still broke up and sank. 5. How did animals with odd diets get to the ark? 6. How did 8 people deal with the needs of 10000 animals on the ark? Each animal had to be fed, watered, exercised and the poop scooped. Working 12 hours a day they would need to deal with over 100 animals per hour. 7. If there were 10000 animals on the ark representing about 4000 species, and there is now about 8.7 million species on Earth, each species surviving the flood would have to generate 217 new species in the 4400 years since the flood. 8. If there were 10000 animals on the ark representing about 4000 species, and there is now about 8.7 million species on Earth, each species surviving the flood would have to generate 217 new species in the 4400 years since the flood. 9. Well according to the Book of Jasher, the wives ARE sisters. Jasher 5: 32-35 "And thou shalt choose for thy sons three maidens, from the daughters of men, and they shall be wives to thy sons. And Noah rose up, and he made the ark, in the place where God had commanded him, and Noah did as God had ordered him. In his five hundred and ninety-fifth year Noah commenced to make the ark, and he made the ark in five years, as the Lord had commanded. Then Noah took the three daughters of Eliakim, son of Methuselah, for wives for his sons, as the Lord had commanded Noah." If a species undergoes a population bottleneck, the lack of genetic diversity can be seen in the members of that species. NO such bottle neck exists in the overwhelming majority of species. 10. 4400 years is not a long enough time to generate the diversity in the human population to give rise to the different populations of people we see on the planet especially when you consider that effectively the genetic diversity was limited to 4 people, Noah and his wife and Eliakim and his wife. 11. Ken Ham's phony Ark has a million Dollar + heating, ventilation and air conditioning system that ensures that workers and visitors do not suffocate in the building. According to the bible, the original Ark had one window, 18 in square. Sorry people but if Ham's estimate of 1600 species represented by a minimum of 4000 animals, they would have suffocated. 12. There is NO trace of any global flood in the geology of the world. Lots of local and regional floods, yes, but NO global flood. 13. Oh and by the way, for those fools at CMI who think Noah's Flood was a real event, a Tomb has been discovered in Egypt dated to 4400 years ago, about the time of the mythical flood (according to many biblical creationists). This raises several questions. a. If the Tomb was built before the flood, how did it escape being flooded? b. If the Tomb was built after the flood, the Earth's population would have been devastated so who built the tomb?

1. biblical date is 2370BCE. Archaeologists use much guesswork dating dynasties, but evidence suggests the first pyramids with no hyrogliphs etc were pre flood which explains the superior engineering as demon angels with supernatural powers walked the earth then 2. The pre flood world likely had lower mountains, the newest and tallest on earth are himalayas which are full of marine fossils. Bible explains there was a water canopy in the thermosphere which fell.
