Does anyone remember the series IT'S ABOUT TIME? Imogene Coca starred in this series from 1966-67. It was about astronauts who accidently go back in time to the time of the caveman, who spoke broken English. Don't ask. 😆 I think some time during the series, they bring them back to present day. Haven't seen it since it aired.

Imogene Coca was cute here. People have talked about the drinking onset back then, which isn't permitted today, but if that were real brandy, Imogene Coca would've really been plastered. I looked up Imogene Coca to see if she were still alive. She died in 2001 at 92. They say that sometimes art reflects reality. Imogene Coca died in Westport, CT. Darrin and Sam and their family live in Westport, CT in BEWITCHED. Coincidence.

Most t.v. shows from the 50's to the 80's featured considerable drinking from most if not all of the characters. Soaps were notorious for this.

@@slimdudeDJC yes they were always fixing drinks or cocktails on Bewitched. On that small cocktail bar they had to the left of the dining table. It never moved in all those years!!!! These days all that is seen negatively but we forget that back in the 50s right through to the 80s, cocktails hour and late afternoon or early evening drinks were seen as what civilised society did. It was a marker or signifier of social status and elegance. The Stephens's always fixed drinks whenever Darrin's clients or Larry Tate visited. It's interesting that you never saw the witches or warlocks in the show drinking. Like Endora. Except perhaps champagne at various functions. The drinking on the show always seemed to gel with one of the plot lines and was also a way to blur consciousness - to permit confusion over the magic being exhibited or to create mayhem of some kind. The theme of alcohol is a thread in all mythological tales. Bewitched used a great many of these ancient storytelling conceits to move the plot forward. Dionysus the god of wine and merriment in Ancient Greek tales for example.

@@stmichl9433 In one ep, Tate said he had to stop drinking cause of the things he was experiencing coming home one night. I think it was the one when Endora gave him three wishes, with one wishing he was Larry Tate for one day. That was off the cuff, though and he never knew she gave him the wishes.

Yeah the strings they used in bewitched could often be seen when they levitated anything. But somehow it didn't matter. We still loved it. These days all of that would be CGI. But somehow it was more magical when they used strings and special effects. These days, any magic represented in movies just doesn't have the same affect. It all looks the same. We forget how ahead of it's time bewitched was. I remember at the time is never seen anything like it before and it all seemed so new and well, magical.

Like 99.99% of people, I prefer the first Darrin, mostly because he was a whiny little bee-ach and was irritable. Oddly enough I say that in a nice way, I always found Sargent to be kind of a whiny be-atch too, but I never felt the chemistry between he and Samantha as I did with Dick York & Samantha. I can't really tell, do you like the 1st or 2nd Darrin better?
