Indeed. In fact, Doji pretty much had Phoenix of all Bladers beaten. If it wasn’t for that broken piece of Sagitarrio (and Kenta reaching out to Phoenix, which likely resonated with that broken piece) sparking that glimmer of hope, Phoenix probably wouldn’t have escaped that dark pit or won the battle. All things considered, I think Ryuga did everyone a favour. Because if Doji wasn’t crippled by Ryuga (if Doji wasn’t already crippled from his battle with Phoenix), Doji would’ve undoubtedly gotten even stronger than before. If he could nearly crush Phoenix in their last battle, just imagine him getting even stronger.
